2023-10-24 14:31:22 +0000 UTCBook 2 is the weakest of the 4 books, and it's still pretty good. It suffers from some bad writing, the cringy love triangle, and a poor villain. It retcons some lore, which upset a lot of people. You kind of have to just let a lot of Book 2 roll off you like water. Push through it, because Book 3 is STRAIGHT FIRE, and Book 4 is really good. Many fans are of the opinion that Korra Book 3 is the best book of the entire Avatar universe. It starts at 100 and just keeps getting better.

I think these eps do a good job of showing how 1 person, even the avatar, can't fix generational issues - and how the 100 Year War of the OG series sort of delayed a lot of stuff because it was everyone united against the Fire Nation. With that threat ended you have 70+ years of rebuilding and growth, including things like old rivalries coming back. Easy to imagine how the North / South water tribe divide gets worse over ~3 generations.
