I agree with you that Dean should have tried to reason with Cas instead of belittling him. And I can't see how Cas was supposed to confide in them when every time he tried to tell them how bad it was, they just blew him off, because their problems are always so much more important than an impending Heavenly civil war ( the angel Rachel was right about that). Sorry but that was bs.

I heard "I'm not gonna logic you," and my brain said "Of course you won't! -- I agree! Naturally, with whatever you say, I agree. As would anyone! All would agree...Wait. What was I saying? Where am I? Whose *hat* is this?... Oh yes, I agree."
I know Season 6 (and 7) aren't as well loved as some other seasons, but I have to say, watching at a clip on Netflix as I did, I loved Season 6 (not above other seasons, as I generally emotionally withhold from ranking); however, I needed the recalibration that 6 provided after the constant death-knell, soul-wrenching, tension-ratcheting 3(ish) to 5. Six remained intellectually intriguing, emotionally involving, humor incorporating, and character developing. Plus, in every GD season, there are one to seven ever-lovin', GD beautiful episodes that earwig their ways into your innermost. This ep is one of 'em.
p.s. Tagging onto your comments because, with all the above, I obviously agree. 😌

One of the most achingly beautiful episodes of the series. it so hard to watch Dean being utterly betrayed by Castiel, but just like with Sam, Dean eventually forgives him. And it is more heartbreaking watching it knowing how badly it turned out. But that experience and trying to pay his penance has just grown Castiel so much and I feel like he was elevated to Winchester status too. There's so much to say about this one because it's just so freaking good!

I truly believe this is objectively the best episode of SPN, it's just so well done, well written, directed, acted 🥰.
I don't agree with cas saying that he was a fool to believe that he can beat Crowley in his own games, i feel like cas is doubting himself too much, lots of negative self talk, i believe his confidence is justified since he was 10 steps ahead of Crowley at all times, Crowley never tricked him, cas was always gonna screw Crowley over, he was never gonna give him a single soul, cas was using Crowley, he's not dumb, and even when Crowley ran to Rafael in the finale of that season, and aligned with him against cas, cas was still 10 steps ahead & gave them fake blood & used the real blood to open purgatory, take the souls & explodes Rafael 👏, he had a plan B, C & D, so proud, Crowley is cunning but cas is also very smart, i know it's probably an unpopular opinion but i think season 6 cas is very hot lol, season 9 cas too, everytime cas takes charge i feel something lol, it's just we don't get to see it often but when we do it's just too 🥵, anyway, i wish dean tried to logic cas instead of calling him a child & asking him to stop just coz, but i get that he was too hurt & took it more personal than everyone else, i can't believe cas gave up his chance at redemption for dean when he was saying that if he saw what he did to heaven he would kill himself in season 8, it's huge!!! Not that anyone had a doubt that he will chose dean but damn, can the angels trust him ever again? Loved this rewatch so much 🥺😍, dean is Louis Lane for sure

Absolutely flawless episode. Cas was a major character to me from the start.

Such an amazing rewatch. This episode is everything! All the stuff with Dean and Cas' relationship is tragic and heartbreaking on an epic scale.
Your love for Jensen's delivery of the line "I'm not gonna logic you." made me laugh so hard cause I so feel you. Sometimes his voice just kills me - so friggin' sexy and deep and just 🤤 And it is a fantastic delivery of the line cause Dean sounds both fed up and desperate.
Ugh! I can't remember if I've mentioned it before, but I really love Dean Winchester. And Jensen. In case you were wondering. 😁
When Crowley was talking about "loaning" Cas souls for an immediate fight against Raphael, he wasn't talking about giving Cas the souls from the Titanic. He says he'll give him, "50,000 souls from the pit."
So, he couldn't have meant the Titanic, because for one thing, only about 1500 people died on the Titanic and, I'm guessing they didn't all end up in hell. 😞 So, he just gave over 50,000 souls from hell for Cas to use against Raphael.
The Titanic thing came later, and was 100% Cas' idea. Unfortunately. And you're right that timeline did end up fixed back to the original timeline.
One of my all time favourite acting moments for Jensen (and there are A LOT!) is when Cas first slips up and says "It is a little absurd though, Superman going to the dark side." You commented on it, the way Dean's face changes in that moment. It's so unbelievably subtle.
His look at the very end of the scene, when you see that complete betrayal in his eyes is also incredible and heartbreaking. But that first little shift in his eyes and on his face kills me absolutely every time. The talent is unbelievable!
Thank you as always for doing these rewatches - they're fabulous. Love how perfectly this rewatch lined up with 9x22. Can't wait for Lucifer Rising! 💓
