They actually didn't strap their helmet chinstraps on purpose. There was a belief by the soldiers that if an explosion happened nearby the weight of the helmet (made of steel) would snap their necks and were in some cases ordered to not use the chinstrap.

2023-01-21 22:13:46 +0000 UTCI enjoyed Band of Brother but The Pacific is my favorite. The intensity between the marines and the “enemy” is highlighted more in this show than it is in Band of Brother, at least to me. It made things feel more personal when watching each character deal with their individual trauma. There’s just no way to watch this series without becoming emotional so ignore anyone asking “why you crying”. Great reaction!
