so having seen this movie WAY too many times haha from what i can gather, the power is transferred through blood making the biomechanism that causes the reset happen automatically, think how you pull your hand back when you burn yourself without thinking and you cant really stop yourself from doing it. so after Cage got Alpha blood in him when he then died the immune response reset the day, it must keep some kind of consistency between resets, likely brain as he remembers, so probably the part of the blood thats important to it gets into the brain, then after he has a blood transfusion it flushes the mimic blood out of him, taking the power away. (little convenient but it makes for a cool raise in stakes imo)
so at the end, the Omega's blood got in him and as he was dying the biomechanism reset automatically, but the Omega was already dead/dying by that stage, so once it reset (further than before likely because it was in the process of dying and had less control)
I doubt Cage still has the power since the creature resetting the time did die (they talked about the energy surge from paris that killed the mimics)
Is it a bit convenient? yes, but i think it makes for a good ending
Great reaction! glad you loved this movie as much as i did even if it got over complicated at points haha

So, as you requested, the original story is based off of a Manga called: "All You Need Is Kill." The story is loosely similar. As there is a Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt character who are loosely based. Also, I would recommend it, but it is a lot darker/depressing than the movie. One Spoiler: They have full mech suits in the manga and they are pretty cool looking. Also, Emily Blunt's character in the manga paints her mech suit red (Red Baron reference) to attract the enemy Mimics. She's a BAMF.

Cruise is PR guy, not a soldier. His resistance to being sent to certain death is understandable. Of course, he then turns total coward and attempted blackmailer so gets what he has coming but he's not unsympathetic for a minute there.

Sure. So remember when Cage kills the Alpha at the beginning? Well that Alpha stays dead although the day repeats. The repeat starts exactly 24 hours earlier when he gets asked if he wants a boot up his ass. Same thing with the Omega. Once he kills the Omega and gets the Omega blood in him *he flashes back 24 hours, which is when he first arrives in London*

I like to believe he took the Omega's power to reset the day when he wants because then he could become the wisest human to ever live as being basically immortal. Imagine how great of a partner you could be to someone if you could just reset the day every time you screw up. =)

If you feel a tiny bit lost Arianna know you aren’t alone. Hell it was his third death before I realized I was watching a video game.
At the end was he given back the power? Can he rewind again? Anybody have the answer because inquiring minds want to know.
