2025-01-29 07:17:50 +0000 UTCMy Grandfather was an original Toccoa man. Item company! a brother company of Easy. It fills me with great pride but leave huge boots to fill.... I am so happy y'all picked up this series. I don't watch it often but every time I am missing my grandfather I do even though the show is not centered around his company I know that he was somewhere right around Easy fighting alongside them. Also PTSD is a helluva thing. I have it and I don't wish it on my worst enemy. Bless my wife for dealing with me when I have an episode. Starting to watch Buck Compton crack always breaks my heart. I can tell you first hand. Losing your friends and loved ones right in front of you will really turn your mental upside down. Hearing a certain sound, smelling a certain smell, something as small as those will bring back memories locked behind heavy doors burryed in a locked chest flooding back. Loved the reaction can't wait to see y'all watch the next one. I will be watching alongside with yous. Cheers.

2021-12-27 07:06:18 +0000 UTCNow we head into the Battle of the Bulge, the last German offensive on the Western Front, and the largest, most decisive, and bloodiest single U.S. battle in WW II. After this battle, the Germans were in constant retreat, and by draining their resources from the Russian front in the East, they hastened the end on both the Eastern and Western fronts. It is the third deadliest U.S. battle in history, after the Normandy invasion (D-Day and after) and the Meuse-Argonne offensive in WW I. I had an uncle who fought in all three of them, as an infantryman in WW I and in the air during WW II. This battle is legend, especially amongst the airborne. When I was in the army in the early 1980's, there were still posters in offices and in the barracks about this battle. Bastogne is on the southern end of the overall battle.

Masters of the air has been in the works for years, glad they finally got moving on it. Bomber crews are rarely touched on other than a handful of movies. My grandfather volunteered to for them and became a b17 gunner so I always soak everything I can. HBOs documentary the cold blue is amazing.

Btw if you like BoB, check out "The Pacific" after which is about the pacific theater of WWII, also made by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg. They are also working on "Masters of the Air" about the US 8th Air Force in Europe in WWII which will be on Apple TV. Another show on HBO which is good but not good for the light hearted is "Chernobyl". Merry Christmas
