I was just waiting to see how long before you realized Mr. Poe was Mr. Trick from Buffy. Realized here means recognized, or recalling the actor who plays both roles :)

Ignorance because of lack of knowledge is a big one as the show highlights how smart the kids are because of how will read and resourceful they are and how dumb the adults blindly following authority can be. It also tackles religion and how the pursuit of knowledge causes division and makes people question authority.
