Again, this is yet another example of how the followed "hero" (specifically Bell) is able to look past the centuries of evil deeds committed by her loved one to give him another chance and claim that she can see good in him while declaring that Hook has a black heart and is basically calling him irredeemable for seeking vengeance on the man who cut off his hand and ripped the love of his life's heart out and crushed it right in front of him. Not saying Hook is in the right or has been a paragon of good his entire life, but she is only seeing his bad actions as it directly effects her loved one with no consideration for any potential good attributes he might have.

I absolutely agree with you about loving that we can understand Hook and Rumple and why they act as they do, and that they're not both completely evil for the sake of being evil. I love their complexities. This is something we never get for villains in their Disney movies or other movies, so I really appreciate getting all of their backstories. And not just for our villains, but for the heroes too. Also... I agree with you about Hook definitely having a death wish. It's very, very sad really. It's one of the many reasons why I can definitely feel the most sympathy for Hook as a villain, even more so over Rumple. Hook's overall past is tragic, and quite possibly the most tragic out of any of our characters. At least in my opinion.

I think the great thing about Hook is, is that they built up a bit of his background. They didn’t pop him into Storybrook, hating Rumple for the heck of it. With no rhyme or reason. They gave him a personality, a love. The nice thing about the writers is that they gave us an understanding that not everything and everyone is black and white. You can look at both Rumple and Hook and have sympathy and understanding for both of them. You feel for both of them. One is not any eviler than the other. Both are complicated people. It makes watching much more captivating and realistic. Oh and Hook does have a death wish. He wants to be reunited with Mila. He knows what he’s doing. Everything he does is either to avenge or be reunited with her. He pushes Rumple intentionally so he’ll kill him.
