okay so i've never posted a "behind the scenes" kind of thing before but I'm trying to post more and stay connected to everything better. I'm just gonna blurb my thoughts below about this video and topic:
This video is intended for absolute beginners. I'm about 85% done with it. It appears about 66% of my YouTube audience are beginners. I've tried to make a beginner video for awhile but honestly I find it much more difficult than making more advanced videos. The "beginner" video has very much been a beast I've needed to slay. There are just so many challenges and things to consider when someone is beginning. It appears there is an equal distribution between people who get stuck on the actions, the mentality, or the knowledge. I think it's very challenging to design a static resource that unsticks all of those main "lines" of getting stuck.
I've gone through quite a few restructurings of this since I started editing it. The current format I've landed on is like:
this format seems to strike a great balance where a student won't get overloaded with technical information. Instead you'll quickly hear the target sounds, try rudimentary exploration with them, then shift into exercises to help develop that.
Question for anyone who reads this... Do you think 3 exercises is too much? Should I just give 2? I'm feeling 3 might be a bit overloading or superfluous. Please let me know your thoughts! I really want to make this video awesome! My intuition is telling me 2, but I don't want to give too little action.
I hope y'all enjoy this! Also I'll be announcing a workshop/group event soon!
