I've been enjoying playing in 34neji or 34edo lately. I play a tetracot mapping. This makes it so the "home row" key of my keyboard is a 6L1s scale type. It sounds nothing like the modes of Western pop and classical music. The first mode has a flat major second, a neutral third, a superfourth, perfect fifth, submajor 6, and neutral 7. This scale and its modes really challenge my ears and have exposed me to a lot of new structures. I decided to record a short improvisation in each mode of this scale.
