Whenever I feel stuck in a never ending loop of negative thoughts, my three best helpers have been moving the body (esp. in novel ways), just getting out in nature and helping others in any small or grand way.
Being someone who teaches and specialized in self care, I also know the trappings of it. When does self care become excessive self absorption? At some point we have to pause on our endless focus on self development and just sit in our awareness of how much we do have and how much we know already and offer some of our care to another - by another, I mean animals, trees, land, water, humans known and unknown to us. Expanding our sources of giving, expands our hearts.
Stewardship can be an exchange of LOVE when we make an offering outside of ourself just for the sake of offering from an open heart.
You can try it now, close your eyes, relax your body and receive your breath as it comes in and soften your heart and mind as the breath leaves. Repeat until you feel a little more still and centered. Now, send your love or appreciation to someone, again it can be a person, a special place, your favorite beach or tree or place that you really care about but have not connected to in a while. Say to them, "Hi, I love you and if you need a boost of energy, I am here for you (could
be just energetically), please receive my care if you need it" This next step is important...You have to visualize them acknowledging your offering. Did they
dance or ripple with joy? What does that feel like in your body to visualize your favorite place, person, tree being thought of with your love? Does it bring a smile to your face? Pretty simple yes?
Last month, as I was saying good-bye to New Orleans where I stayed and worked for 5 weeks, I made an offering of gratitude with rose petals to the lake, a beautiful Blue Heron landed near me and showed a display of beauty that was staggering. We just walked along the shore at a distance for a while. And because the Great Blue Heron is the color of the lake, I was just amazed witnessing something that I have been practicing for many years through Qi Gong. I saw through this magnificent creature the beauty of Animal and Elemental wisdom merging as one in one body and moving with Grace and Effortless Power! I truly received this great bird's blessing as the lake waters received mine.
PS - The project I was working on in New Orleans has the Great Blue Heron as a very important figure in it so the magic was really big for me.
Thank you for receiving this offering from me - loving this exchange of care.
Love,
Rie
