Skyrim Update #7

We are coming up on the 1 year anniversary of the Oblivion video.  That video only had 9 months of work, compared to the full year that Skyrim is receiving.  I haven't written an update since June because, to be honest, there isn't much to report.  I've kept my head down and stayed busy, so I am still on track.

My rudimentary progress tracker reports that I am 60% of the way through the editing process.  That is not 60% of the overall project.  We are 3 months through the 5 I set aside for editing, so exactly on track according to that number.  That figure is, however, held down by the Final Cut number still sitting at 0%.

Once the Rough Cut is done and I start working on the Final Cut, that progress tracker is going to accelerate because some of the current edit IS the final cut, so it hasn't really been tracked accurately.  As with all things creativity, progress is not a linear number.  Not all components are equal in contribution to the finished product.

If I released what I have right now tomorrow, it would be longer than the Oblivion video.  What is actually done now is still longer than that video, it would just be a bit of a rough presentation because there are still missing examples, footage, and no music.

This is the section I am currently working on.  Like it's predecessors, it's a bit special because it is the most tedious to edit, but the most feature complete when it is done.  Purple indicates the individual quest sections.  Green indicates inserts, Red indicates corrections.  I'm confident things are going to speed up once I finally get over this particular hill.

IMPORTANT: There will not be any side projects coming out until this is done.  I just don't have the time.  My plan is to make the video available to patrons a week in advance of the release date (11/11/22 for those who don't know).   However, while my goal is to have the video ready by Nov. 1st, if processing or rendering issues arise I am going to use that 11 days as flex.  When the trailer releases that is when the video is available for patrons.
