Menu Options
Added 2025-05-31 04:13:32 +0000 UTCI’m hesitant to add menu options for every minor configurable feature, as this tends to bloat the menu system and makes it harder for users to find and navigate general settings efficiently.
To address this, I propose splitting the menu into General and Advanced sections. By default, only the General menu items would be visible. Users would need to perform a specific key combination during startup to unlock the Advanced menu options. Additionally, there could be a mode for power users that keeps the Advanced section permanently accessible.
That said, deciding which options belong in General versus Advanced will inevitably be subjective and open to discussion.

That was something I was toying with actually. But it gets messy, you need logic to skip over unticked ones and renumber everything. Maybe I could work out a better subsystem for that kind of thing in the 880 rewrite, but for the current menu system, it would not be something I'd look forward to doing.

2025-06-01 11:30:47 +0000 UTCI’m unsure if this is feasible or how difficult it would be to implement, but I was thinking about treating settings like channels. Specifically, each setting option would have a checkbox, and only selected options would appear in the radio menu, while unselected ones would remain hidden but still be written to the radio via SPI. This way, users who enjoy tinkering can enable all settings, while others have only what they need. But i am still in the favor of having two separate settings options on the radio itself. That was just an idea.

2025-06-01 11:26:15 +0000 UTCYou can change the long presses already, short press, well... [1] really needs to be '1', [Up] really needs to be [Up] etc..

2025-06-01 06:11:01 +0000 UTCI would love to be able to program/change all the short and long keys similar to the RT-880

2025-05-31 21:38:13 +0000 UTCI like this, I had also thought about menus and sub menus --Squelch --squelch -noise level -noise ceiling --Rx -ctcss -dcs --Tx -ctcss -dcs --DTMF -Speed -Volume -Delay --LCD -Brightness -Sleep -Invert Etc etc Maybe 10 ish menus 0-9 to navigate and Maybe have up to 10 items per sub menu so we could press 0-9 to quickly navigate and select them. Just an idea
