RT-900 Flash Backup
Added 2025-04-15 15:58:23 +0000 UTCIn preparation for the eventual release of the RT-900 firmware, I would really advise everyone backs up their SPI flash memory.
Unlike the 890 where tools for doing this were already available, no such tools for the 900 exist, So I knocked something together.
This is a Windows application and an RT-900 firmware image. The firmware is just an SPI flash and UART wrapper, it does nothing else, it is meant to be flashed simply to allow the SPI Flash memory to be read from the radio and saved. The application is also able to flash firmware bin files as well.
To use:
Open "RT-900-BinFlasher.exe"
Click "Browse"
Select "flashdumpFW.BTU"
Connect Radio to PC via a GOOD (FTDI or CH340) programming cable. The app/radio communication is at 345,600 Baud so it needs a good quality chipset.
Select correct COM Port in the application.
Turn on radio while holding the bottom two side buttons, screen should say "Update".
Click "Flash"
Once the firmware is written, the radio will reboot with a blank screen, the green LED will be flashing
Click "Read SPI" in the Application
Select the backup file name to save
Wait for the read to complete
You now have a full backup of the SPI Flash memory, you can go ahead and flash the stock firmware back to the radio.
Note that the application cannot yet write the SPI Image back to the radio, the "Write SPI" button does nothing currently.
Comments
The full FW version and programmer is supposed be able to do that, but as you noted there's a problem with the file size check.

2025-07-02 22:09:15 +0000 UTC@nicsure - Marcus, did you ever progress to the point of allowing the SPI backup to be written back to the radio in the event of SPI corruption etc?

2025-04-15 19:52:20 +0000 UTCTry the 1.04 version with the slower speed firmware. You should really get a couple of CH340 cables, they really are the best.
