Introducing a little something for all you viper lovers out there, a Rattlesnake! This model has a few new design features that I'm really excited about. In addition to the extension Links you all know from the Ball Python, the Rattlesnake also features a hinged jaw, and a working rattle! Small print-in-place beads fall free inside the rattle, and provide a very satisfying sensory fidget.

3D PRINTING SETTINGS
Body (Front and Rear): Print-In-Place. (I have not yet created a Built-in Brim version of the body, so you may need to generate one if you're having adhesion problems. Use a brim gap of around 0.25mm to aid in brim removal.)
Head Top: Snap-Fit to Head Bottom. Pre-Supported!
Head Bottom: Snap-Fit to the Body Front. Pre-Supported!
Rattle: Separate so it can be printed in a different color. Snap-Fit to Body Rear. If the rattle beads do not print free from the surrounding material, you can use a pointed object, like a pen, to push them into the rattle. Print-in-place.
Body Extend Link: Print-in-place.
Body (Front and Rear) Aligned: Body links are all in a straight line. Gives more options for people with belt or large build volume printers.
Body Rear wRattle & Body Rear wRattle Aligned: Rattle is pre-attached to the body, if you aren't interested in printing it separately.
10% Infill.
3 Walls.
This has been test printed as low as 70% with full articulation and working rattle!

2022-12-27 19:55:52 +0000 UTCEven With the Bambus, it takes a ton of extra print time and wasted filament to do multicolor. Extra thought to model design and print orientation can go a long way to mitigate that.

2022-12-27 00:52:12 +0000 UTCIt’s not. It’s just the STLs. I had to do some updates to the file after I printed this one, which breaks the multicolor painting. The good news is, it was very easy to paint with (mostly) the fill tool!
