Happy Holidays Everyone!

Introducing a little something for all you viper lovers out there, a Rattlesnake!  This model has a few new design features that I'm really excited about.  In addition to the extension Links you all know from the Ball Python, the Rattlesnake also features a hinged jaw, and a working rattle!  Small print-in-place beads fall free inside the rattle, and provide a very satisfying sensory fidget.

It's pretty simple, but here's a little assembly video: https://youtu.be/5F43Vr5wi4A

I hope you enjoy!!
Matt

Pictured Model was printed in these filaments...
Body is Ziro Matcha***
Eyes, Teeth and Rattle is Ziro Wood Grain***

If I was to use glass eyes what size would I need for the full size 100% and what size for the 70% please?

Connie Clinton

Just finished him in the Zito Macha as well. 3 additional segments. Bambu painted teeth red. Long print but man he's awesome...

David Long

just until you run out of filament haha

Jeremy P

Nope! Some people have made them 6-7 feet long!

MatMire_Makes

is there a limit on how many extension links I could add?

Eli malk

With no added extensions, it's about 25". Each extension adds about 1".

MatMire_Makes

What is the full length of the assembled rattlesnake printed at 100%?

Rochelle A

don't forget a minigun on the tail plz

kyle d bowers

I bet she wants the part settings like I do for our Bambu's lol. Their slicer isn't the easiest to do a good paint job lol

Jeff Herrmann

What Timothy said. I'm pretty new to the X1 too. I basically am still using default settings, except switching to 3 Walls and 10% Gyroid infill.

MatMire_Makes

Just the reg profile will print it about the same as long as you use the Bambu Slicer

Timothy

This print is awesome. Any chance we could get one with a cowboy hat on 🤠

Nikola Vonfulton

Would you be willing to share your Bambu settings? I have an X1C on the way and I am so excited to print this on it!

Jocelyn Kessinger

printed two now and they are perfect

troy hebert

Just finished the v1 with painted eyes and tail - the head supports snapped away perfectly. This model is top notch, thanks!!

Jessica Gadling

The straight just helps if you have a belt printer or gives people with large printers more layout options. Most people should use the curved.

MatMire_Makes

is there any advantage/disadvantage to printing the straight vs curved versions?

Mike Sprague

You rock! Thanks Mat!

Kyle

And maybe, just maybe (as a fellow Bambu user looking at their waste), have a snap in tongue?

I just finished printing my first copy of this guy today and I absolutely love him! This rattle would make an excellent keychain fidget...just saying lol

Jocelyn Kessinger

K. That’s what I thought.

John Jerde

Nope! The front and rear connect directly. The extensions just allow you to make them longer if you want.

MatMire_Makes

Do I need to use the body extend link to connect the front to rear?

John Jerde

Prints beautifully - Love it!

SubSector3d

love it!!

KingTaylor91

Just wow. Is there a way to separate the rattler (for printing) and attach it later?

Jerry VdV

That's a great idea. I'll add that now.

MatMire_Makes

Yup! It finally came!

MatMire_Makes

Even With the Bambus, it takes a ton of extra print time and wasted filament to do multicolor. Extra thought to model design and print orientation can go a long way to mitigate that.

Wayne Michael Rogers

Looks awesome man!

3DNestCZ

I see you got a Bambu now too! 🤓

Wayne Michael Rogers

Any chance you could post a link to the filament you used when you print these?

Nikola Vonfulton

I agree with Don, we really need a snap on rattle for us poors without Bambus lol

Kyle

I second the blue-tongued skink! Especially if you could find a way to make the mouth open and the tongue stick out. :D

Bryodiversity

I was half right😄 i thought the green was matcha i was just trying to figure out the brown lol.

Timothy Heidecker

I would print so much faster in color if the rattle was a separate piece that could be snapped on... (hint?)

Don Fief (aka SwagDad)

A chameleon! YES!

krista romero

Broooooooo!

Jason

It’s not. It’s just the STLs. I had to do some updates to the file after I printed this one, which breaks the multicolor painting. The good news is, it was very easy to paint with (mostly) the fill tool!

MatMire_Makes

Is this a multi color file? I have the x1 carbon as well.

Chris

many more cute reptiles you could do too - pink or blue tongued skink and jacksons chameleon to add to the list please :)

Leigh Johnson

Woah! That's cool. My only run-in with a rattler was at a golf course here in SoCal. I nearly stepped on an adolescent. That could have been bad!

MatMire_Makes

Love it, I actually used to be a zookeeper and looked after western diamond back rattlesnakes :O Thankyou for the 2 part head, it will make painting teeth and tongue soo much easier :)

Leigh Johnson

Lol. We all could use more Carbon X1s, haha! (This was my first multicolor print with it. So Fun!)

MatMire_Makes

and now I need more Carbon X1's because they are all busy, lol. The color is amazing.

Shayla Anthony

The Ziro Matcha is a gorgeous gradient!

MatMire_Makes

Ah. Okay. Looks awesome.

John Jerde

The it's two filaments. The green is Ziro Matcha and the brown is Ziro Woodgrain. I used my multi-color printer.

MatMire_Makes

This is great!! Thanks!! Can’t wait to print it!

Thomas Moody

What kind/color of filament is that?

John Jerde

I have a multi color-printer

MatMire_Makes

YESS!!! But how did you get the tail, eyes and fangs in a different color?

Lynsie Burgtorf

This is perfect for my new filament I got for Christmas

Nikola Vonfulton

Just in time! I'm trying to get snakes printed for when I sell at my local Repticon in a few weeks, excited for this!

Makers Ace

Omg i was just trying to decide what to print next! LOVE IT!!!!
