GIMBAL BLENDER 4.2 PORT + research report

After i finished Flamedramon i mentioned was about to work on some research On blender Ports, This task was delayed thanks to several factors, including personal and familiar ones,

However a more productive distraction was the production of a Comic Involving Lunaris, as much as i wanted to show it here due the nature of involving an alien and a human and directly explicit content would break some TOS of patreon, so was posted daily on my FurAffinity https://www.furaffinity.net/view/57618446/


Oh yeah! i mentioned what some models would ported, the first victim was the crash test bunny feaured from the Bunny pack

while the model its not "new" Its recieved Updates about its overall Aspect for improve her look in blender (and it will keep recieving updates during the next weeks COf COf MALE UNIT COF* )

Her Armor and outer surface was cleaned, however weathering efects will came back later improved for lore propouses, but for most of people outhere, its very likely want to bang a fresh new GIMBAL unit


Another feature learned its the implementation of Mask SSS, since Gimbal its a unit with latex body frame, still need to research how to make her logical "skeleton" outcast a shadow, but for now i think its decent to sell her rubbery skin

While its not a new since was implemented from Jenny Wakeman Port, was absent on Lunaris port

 FaceIt Its back for this port and future models, Face it work with shape keys making the whole setup for making shapekeys for models more straight foward, a benefit for future models who will be not depending on Single Mono SHape keys, and covering most of the basic face expressions as needed for each character since they are ShapeKey drivers controls, very quick to manipulate

  

BUUUT lets say you want more "Control" Faceit create most of the expressions using bones rig, what give you the options to keep that Bone rig separate from the rigify one and from the FaceIt Flexes one, giving most of the best of both worlds


now for the real findings of this investment of time

For this proyect the whole idea its Discart any useful Data made for the SFM production and treat the model as much as an Downloaded OBJ file

that means even the weight paint was done from 0 giving me a whole better idea how much will took me to do a whole functional blender rig from 0  This experiment was done the past year after JENNY proyect and again with Rogue the bat

however both models was with the old idea of make Models ports AFTER the SFM models where done, something no longer applicable for the next year, so Gimbal was done like with no consideration of the old work made for both Shape Key data for face and Weight paint

Im VERY happy to inform the experience was even better than the past year and Blender rigs could be realistically done in even less time than SFM even on the first port, (what its only the body)

Since the past year 2 of the mayor drawbacks for make rigs, was Rigify addon had a VERY clunky way to assing rows to rig layers, that was utterly a guess work based on how the old layer system worked , i had a whole page or two of my notebook and a magnetic whiteboard filled with exact steps to do the rigs layers consistent among Jenny and rouge model port and was tedious to say at least

now with Layer bones with Blender 4.0 cannot be more simpler than create a bone layer, assing a color tag an put it in a row number the rig UI

the secound mayor drawback was an issue with FaceIt Rigs need a VERY thedious cleanup to make the drivers work w/o the addon, that seem to be fixed with current versions of the addons

Im very happy despite my delays... this port was a soft butter experience

the comrades Kaitou 3D and ANNO AD  where working for the long run facial expressions improvements with presets for rigify or in the overall workflow... i hope the best whishes for their effort

the future its bright comrades! Im VERY exited to work on the Sybil Port in the next days, i will listen carefully your feedback on gimbal also, i need to see how easy its make variants from the same model and how will affect the rigs , gotta start with a Male version of the SISM robot what Gimbal its based on, give credit to BDANIMARE for asking for such think
