Harry Potter: The Mage's Path Chapter 15

Hi all,

There is some wild weather where I live, and the area is prone to power cuts. Luckily, the chapter is already finished, so I'm posting it early, just in case.

Some more grinding and a visit from the headmaster. I have listed Harry’s and his familiar's parameters at the end, so the chapter is bigger than usual.

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or any of the intellectual property associated with Harry Potter.

July 6th

The next day, Harry had the house to himself. The Dursleys decided to embark on a day trip to the beach. This gave him unrestricted access to the kitchen. As a result, he experimented with new recipes, and after creating the fourth one, he discovered a very useful dish that would come in handy in the Dungeon.

Celeste flew around him, trying to get her hands on the food that was giving off a heavenly aroma. He resorted to grabbing a fly swatter to keep her away.

"Let me have a taste," Celeste insisted as she perched on his head.

"You have already tried the other recipes, you greedy little pig," Harry said. "Wait a moment."

Harry examined the dish before him and was quite pleased with the results.

Cottage Pie | Recipe | Common | Grade: 3

Description: Cottage pie is a popular recipe in every home. It is a meat pie filled with beef and topped with cheesy mashed potatoes. This recipe's sauce is created by sauteing veggies, beef, thyme, and stock and then adding to a simmering sauce with red wine and stock. Eating it will boost Vitality and Magic.

[Cooking skill bonus +25%]: Vitality + 5; Magic + 5 for 225 minutes

=====

If he wanted to increase the grade even further, he would have to find a cottage pie recipe that Gaia considered superior. Or, he would have to get lucky and gain inspiration while cooking the meal.

It was his most effective option for buffing his attributes for the Dungeon at the moment. He just hoped that he didn't become sick of the recipe. He wondered if overeating the meal would have a negative effect on his health, but nothing was explicitly stated.

He served cottage pie to his familiars. Hedwig flew through the kitchen window and perched on the back of a chair.

'No mashed potatoes for me, hatchling.'

"Way ahead of you," Harry smiled, placing a plate down in front of her.

"Oh, this tastes delicious," Celeste moaned. She was holding a teaspoon that was still too big for her. In a comical manner, she stood on the table, holding a teaspoon, reaching into the bowl to scoop food like it was a shovel.

As Harry began eating, he spent some time looking at the progress he had made yesterday after saying goodbye to Hermione at the gym. He spent his time in the Empty Dungeon, working on his attributes and making some further gains with his skills.

Harry managed to get two more attributes to twenty, and now he could spend AP to increase them to twenty-five at any time.

After reading through the Latin book and practising with Celeste, he showed visible improvements in the language. However, he needed a more advanced book to advance it further. He discovered that reading the same book more than once did not net him any experience in his Bookworm skill. However, he levelled it up a bit more when he cracked open the Magical Theory book.

The book was a fascinating read. As well as several topics relating to magic that was grounded in fact, there were also some speculative ideas about more abstract topics. For example, there was a section on Mages, which proposed that the reason for their decline was the introduction of foci. Mages had an inherent ability to cast wandless magic because it was their intent and belief that allowed them to be able to perform magic. They imposed their will on it, giving them access to more elemental and unrefined magic.

The foci were designed, however, to make magic more accessible to everyone, as not everyone had the same strength of mind. A semi-sentence was given to the foci, and they shared responsibility for commanding magic with the wizard. It led to a more structured and balanced magical system, but it also decreased the wizard's ability to bend magic to their will over time. It was further speculated that there was a correlation between this and the wizard and witch's decline in magic overall.

After he finished the book, it gave him some extra points in Control, which was a nice bonus.

The potion skill was coming along nicely. Harry had started making first-year potions to prepare for Hogwarts. In addition to that, he spent the rest of his time meditating. This was not the most exciting thing in the world, but the benefits were far too significant to ignore. Harry still had a long list of things he wanted to read and learn. In terms of first-year school subjects, there was still Astronomy, History of Magic, Defence Against the Dark Arts, and Transfiguration. The first two were purely theoretical subjects and had no practical use for him at the moment. Defence against the Dark Arts combined both Charms and Transfiguration and wasn't technically necessary. However, it had plenty of combat lessons not taught in the other two subjects. It also had plenty of knowledge on dark creatures, so it was still worth pursuing at some point.

He needed to go back to Diagon Alley to find some books on third-year subjects like Arithmancy and Ancient Runes. There was no way he would wait until the beginning of his third year to learn them. Who would do that if they had an ability like Gaia?

The other area that needed work was his affinities. He still needed to learn how to level them up, as they would bring substantial benefits in the future. He suspected that he would be required to increase his fire affinity to learn the higher-level spells from the Grimoire of Flames. He was still waiting to find a grimoire for his shadow affinity, but it wasn't that urgent since he had Celeste.

"Celeste, how do I level up my affinities?" Harry asked.

"Get your meditation to level twenty, then talk to me," Celeste replied.

Although it was getting increasingly difficult to level, he had plenty of time to do it. "How many more Shadow Essences do you have to consume before you level up again?"

"I need to consume another one today," Celeste replied. "It should push me to level four."

"We need to solve it somehow," Harry frowned with an expression of anxiety. "You will fall behind even further, and I won't be able to take you to the higher-level dungeons."

"I know," Celeste sighed.

Harry tapped his fingers on the table. "There's something wrong with your ability to absorb elements. Is there someone who can diagnose you?"

"I don't think that is the problem," Celeste said. "I think it is merely how Gaia set up the conditions for me to restore my power. My shadow affinity is still one hundred per cent, after all."

"Oh, I will continue to think about the matter."

"Hedwig, how far are you in the Latin book?" Harry asked curiously.

'I have read the book a couple of times now. Repetition is the key to retaining the contents of the book.'

"Well, I have finished it, so let me know when you want to read it."

He was about to return to his own status screen when he heard a shout from Celeste.

"I got a quest," Celeste cheered.

Harry was caught off guard. "What? You can get quests as well?"

Celeste didn't answer as she perused the screen. From the hangdog expression on her face, it appeared that it wasn't good news."Oh my gosh, this is such bullshit!"

He opened the quest menu and saw that a new tab had been added, named familiars. In the list, Celeste and Hedwig's names were listed, with the former having a number next to it, so he clicked on it.

=====

Celeste's Current Quests: 1

One Fairy Army

Description: Celeste cannot level up conventionally, relying on the use of Shadow Essences that she can only absorb once per day. In order to help remedy this situation, Gaia offers a skill that will be able to help her, but she first has to prove herself.

Objective: Solo the Wandering Aspen Dungeon.

Special Condition: Cannot be higher than level ten.

Time Limit: None.

=====

Harry turned to Celeste. "You're screwed."

'I concur.'

As Celeste slumped down on the table, she began to sob. "You're right, I am."

"I'm only joking," Harry said hastily. "There are a few things that are working against you, but some positive things may work in your favour as well."

"Like what?"

"Well, it doesn't say anything about equipment," Harry thought carefully as he spoke. "We need to get you a weapon that takes advantage of your stealth and can deal damage."

"Yes! Also, I may get some new spells as I level up," Celeste perked up.

'They will probably be more shadow spells, which won't be effective against the monsters in the Dungeon.' Hedwig pointed out reasonably.

"We don't need to rush it," Harry said. "Concentrate on levelling up first."

"Give me the Shadow Essence, please," Celeste said as she flew over and stood on the table in front of him.

Harry took out a superior shadow essence and gave it to her, and she promptly sat down and began absorbing it. He returned to his own menu and checked his status. Time to get a couple more perks.

Harry spent 5 AP on Magic and Intelligence each. His Control took a hit, but he would focus exclusively on meditation today. After he saw the small icon informing him that there had been an update, he immediately opened it up.

=====

Magic: Golem Magic.

Description: Through the use of a Mana Core, materials and this unique magic, the player can create Golems capable of performing various functions. The role can vary from defending, attacking, supporting, or utility. Blueprints can be found in dungeons or as rewards for certain quests. Only one Golem can be created for every twenty points in Magic.

Earth Golem blueprint obtained.

=====

Intelligence: Skill Points

Description: A skill point can be used to increase any skill by one level. The player will receive a skill point for every point in Intelligence.

Current skill points: 25

=====

Golem magic had the potential to be really powerful. He could create a golem tank in the future that would be a damage sponge while he stays at range and casts spells. The Skill Points perk was also handy, although limited in its use. It would be most beneficial at higher skill levels where levelling becomes prohibitive.

He opened his inventory, retrieved the Earth Golem blueprint, and looked at the required ingredients. He grimaced when he noticed the required materials. Most of them he had never heard of, including the Mana Core.

"Celeste, do you know where I can find these materials?"

Celeste opened her eyes and peered at the blueprint. "This is so cool. Unfortunately, I am unsure where we might be able to find them. My first guess would be the dwarfs."

He was about to reply when there was a knock on the door. "Hedwig, hide outside. Celeste, turn invisible."

Harry quickly cleaned up the table, and Celeste flew onto his shoulder and turned invisible. When he opened the front door, he saw an old man and a woman standing on the doorstep. The woman held a stern expression, and the old man with a long white beard was dressed in a garish purple suit. His relatives would take one look at them and call him a freak.

"Mr Potter, I presume?" The old man spoke pleasantly.

Harry had a funny feeling that they were both magical. He discreetly activated his Sense Mana skill and was nearly blinded by the power emanating from the two of them, especially the old man. Thankfully, they didn't seem to intend any harm towards him, as they were able to cross the ward without any issues at all.

"Who wants to know?" Harry asked.

"My name is Albus Dumbledore, the Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This is Professor McGonagall, the Deputy Headmistress and the Transfiguration teacher."

When Harry heard the old man's first name, he looked at him suspiciously, which caught the two adults by surprise. This was the bloody wanker who sent him here to live with the Dursleys. "What do you want?"

"I believe that you already know about Hogwarts," Albus said. "May we come in to discuss a few things?"

'What should I do?' Harry asked Celeste silently.

'Let's hear what they have to say. At least they don't mean you any harm.'

Harry opened the door wider and led them into the living room.

"I must say it is glad to see you, Mr Potter," McGonagall said after sitting on the sofa, adjusting the tartan to cover her legs. "You look so much like your father, but you have your mother's eyes."

Harry could tell that the tall, stern-looking woman was not to be trifled with and reminded himself to watch his words around her. With words alone, she was capable of inflicting major wounds. However, she seemed to soften when she looked at him.

"So, I heard." Harry shrugged.

"Harry, my boy. Do you mind if I conjure some tea?" Albus leaned forward on the sofa.

"I'm not your boy," Harry retorted. "And, no, I don't mind."

Alnus summoned a tea set, and the two teachers served themselves some tea.

"Mr Potter," McGonagall said sternly, placing her tea down on the table. "You should be more respectful of your elders."

"Sorry," Harry said insincerely. "I guess how I was raised has given me a rather curious belief that adults should earn my respect rather than just hand it out like candy."

'Harry,' Dumbledore peered at him from behind his spectacles. "May I ask how you found out about the magical world?"

"I found out by accident," Harry shrugged.

"Could it have something to do with the fairy on your shoulder?" Dumbledore asked.

"A fairy?" Mcgonagall gasped, looking closer. "I don't see anything."

"It is true," Dumbledore said. "But she is concealing herself in some fashion."

'What the hell is my invisibility worth if everyone can see through it?' Celeste huffed.

Harry picked Celeste off his shoulder. "You may as well reveal yourself."

Celeste turned visible, and McGonagall gasped in shock. However, she wasn't the only one, as Dumbledore almost fell over when he spotted her. "An Umbra Fairy!"

Harry stiffened, looking at the man warily. How did he know?

"Oh my god," Celeste pointed at Dumbledore in feigned shock. "It's the old whiskered wanker himself."

McGonagall glared at the impudent fairy. Dumbledore took it in stride, ignoring the insult.

"Curious," Dumbledore stroked his beard, though he did look a bit concerned. "Is she your familiar, Harry?"

Harry nodded and stroked Celeste's wings affectionately. A loud noise came from the hallway. Sighing, Harry stood up and opened the door, and Hedwig came flying through before landing on the back of the chair.

"Is she a familiar too?" Dumbledore's eyes widened in surprise.

"It is indeed rare to have two familiars," McGonagall smiled at Harry, proud of his accomplishment.

"Harry," Dumbledore reached into his suit and retrieved a large envelope. "We have come here to give you your Hogwarts letter."

Harry took the letter from the man and opened it up. He skimmed the two pages but found nothing new. Hermione's school letter was almost identical.

"What makes you think that I want to attend the same school with you in charge?" Harry pointed at Dumbledore. "There are a number of grievances that I have with you."

"I know some of it," McGonagall admitted, looking at Dumbledore, who bowed his head in shame. "But could you share with us your reasons?"

"He sent me here to the Dursleys without any oversight," Harry said. "I can understand why he did it, but his methods left much to be desired. He knew full well how I was being treated here. How is he my magical guardian again?"

"Mr Potter," Dumbledore began.

"Secondly," Harry interrupted. "He helped throw Sirius Black into Azkaban without receiving a fair trial to defend himself. Third, he refused to unseal my parents' will, which I assume he had a hand in sealing in the first place."

Professor McGonagall turned to Dumbledore with an angry expression. "It seems that you have been hiding a few things, Dumbledore. You knew how he was treated?"

"Yes," Dumbledore said with shame before turning to Harry. "I have no doubt I deserve all the vitriol you throw at me, but I wasn't fully aware of my actions."

He listened incredulously as Dumbledore recounted the story of Trelawney. "Wait a minute, how is it that you were able to be ambushed so easily?"

"Ah, well. I had an argument with my brother beforehand. I wasn't in the right state of mind. Even someone with my capabilities can be brought to his knees if he doesn't remain vigilant."

They sat in silence for a few minutes. Harry silently communicated with his familiars, discussing the situation while the adults drank their tea and waited.

"Now, having said that," Dumbledore stood, followed by McGonagall. "I understand that it will take time for you to trust me, so we will leave it here for now. I wanted to introduce myself today. There are further discussions that we need to have, but that can wait for another day. Is there anything I can do for you before I leave?"

"I have already stated my grievances," Harry said. "Go about fixing them, and we will talk."

"Ah, yes," Dumbledore grimaced. "Well, I think the first point of call is to unseal the will, as that may help with the other issues. But it may take some time."

'Harry, don't forget about the Wardstone.' Hedwig reminded him.

"Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that," Harry muttered. "You need to fix the wardstone, so it's not draining my magic."

McGonagall let out a string of carefully edited curses. Even when angry, she remained proper. "Dumbledore, you fool, you tied the wee bairns' magic to a Wardstone. Do you know you could have permanently damaged his magic?"

"Yes," Dumbledore nodded sadly. "This is yet another glaring error that should be corrected. Harry, if I remove the connection between you and the Wardstone, the wards won't last longer than a week."

"Like I care?" Harry snorted. Maybe that wasn't completely true, as it was unnerving when there were people like Angelica out there who were after him. However, Gaia has already given him some anonymity with the Face-Changing Mask.

"There are still forces out there that mean you harm," Dumbledore said cryptically. For a moment, he closed his eyes and pondered. "What if I taught you to recharge the stone by pouring your magic into the Wardstone instead? If you add some every day, you can keep it fully charged."

"That is too advanced for a wizard who hasn't started his first year," McGonagall protested.

"Is it similar to the Potio Roborate Charm?" Harry asked, interested.

"Yes, but a lot harder," Dumbledore nodded. "Have you been practising it?"

"What about the trace?" McGonagall raised an eyebrow at Harry. "I hope you haven't been doing anything that would get you into trouble?"

"I won't lie to you," Harry said. A moment passed before McGonagall realised the boy wasn't about to speak further.

"Just like James," McGonagall shook her head in exasperation.

"I will remove the link between you and the Wardstone," Dumbledore said. "I take it you have a wand without the Trace on it?"

Harry nodded and summoned his practice wand from his wand holster. He always kept it there when he wasn't in the Dungeon in case he needed it for something.

"Curious," Dumbledore studied the wand before summoning his own. "This may feel strange, but it shouldn't hurt."

A short while after Dumbledore pointed his wand at him, he felt a tugging sensation in his sternum, followed by a sense that something within his body was breaking. He felt a sudden rush of Mana flooding his body as it returned with a vengeance, which caused him to become giddy and euphoric for a moment.

"You have a lot of power for one so young," Dumbledore commented, putting his wand away. "I will now teach you the spell to share your magic with the Wardstone."

Half an hour later, Albus Dumbledore and Minerva McGonnagal stepped out of the house, making their way down the street to their apparition point.

"He is hiding a lot of secrets," McGonagall observed.

"Yes," Dumbledore nodded. "He has a wand growing in his arm, a rather exotic wand crafting method. Isabelle Guillory in France is the only one I know who uses that method."

"So he is already exploring the world. He is very mature for his age."

"Yes," Dumbledore said. "I'm afraid that responsibility lies clearly at my feet."

"There's plenty that you are still not telling him."

"I don't want to overwhelm him. From what John said, there are forces out there that are interested in Harry."

"What about Voldemort?" McGonagall asked. "You always told me that he wasn't dead, and it was a matter of time before he returned."

"I was mistaken," Dumbledore said with a frown. "Unfortunately, there are even more terrible things to come. There is so much to prepare for."

<====({owo})====>

The next twenty-four hours were the slowest in the history of mankind. He spent fifteen real-world hours in the Dungeon, which equated to forty-five hours, grinding his meditation skill to twenty. It was getting so time-consuming that he considered using some skill points to further level it. Yet he had achieved his goal of reaching Celeste's target.

After reaching that milestone, he noticed a quantitative change in his meditation skill. Upon entering his mind, he found himself in a dark space surrounded by three spheres orbiting him. It took him a while to realise that two of them represented his two affinities, fire and shadow. As for the former, it had a dark purple-black colour, while the latter had a colour similar to that of a miniature sun.

However, the third was a mystery. It was tightly wrapped up in black chains, and he couldn't see the actual element, and he was certain that it didn't show up on his perks list. The moment he tried to examine it, he was thrown out of his mind and left with a severe headache. He didn't intend to try it again anytime soon. For now, it will remain a mystery. Whatever the case, he found that he could now access the location where his affinities took on a metaphysical form by meditating.

"Listen up," Celeste said. "To assimilate elements into yourself, you must first understand how each element feels. It is best for you to meditate and gain a feel for the fire element since that is what you will be focusing on now. The next step is to use Sense Mana to locate the fire element in the vicinity. It is not difficult to find, as the four elements of fire, earth, air and water can be found easily. This is because they are the fundamental components that make up the world, the four original elements."

Harry spent time studying the orbiting sphere of fire in his mind. In time, he began to understand some simple concepts about the element. In addition to creating life, it also plays a significant role in destroying it as well. As part of this cycle, there is both destruction and renewal. In addition to bringing warmth, light, and food, it also takes away in equal measure. In people, it breeds passion, impetuousness, recklessness, anger, and resentfulness.

Once he grasped the concept, Harry returned to the clearing in the woods and activated Sense Mana. He felt that the aptest way to describe the phenomena he encountered was as if there was a billowing of colour streamers in the air. However, they were much less substantial.

With the power of his will, he attempted to draw the distinctive red fire element into himself. It didn't like being controlled, so coaxing a strand into him took some time. When he drew it into his body, he felt a brief sensation of heat and a burning hunger before the feeling vanished.

The higher the skill level, the faster he can absorb them into his body.

=====

Over the next few days, Harry spent his time grinding the Instant Dungeon and the Empty Dungeon. Since the experience points were abysmal, and level eleven required a huge step up in the experience needed, he had not levelled up further. However, Hedwig had reached level ten and learned a new spell: a defensive windshield that blocked a certain amount of damage. Celeste levelled up twice and learned a supplementary spell, which was a status effect that caused silence. It would be very useful against specific monsters and humans.

Harry's spells had taken a huge step forward. After maxing out Immolate, he received a new fire spell called Firespear. It was a cool spell that manifested a spear wreathed in flames and dealt fire and piercing damage. Other than that, he added some spells to his repertoire. He learned some brand-new Charm spells, which incidentally raised his Charm Mastery skill by one. The most notable of these were the Blasting Curse and the Shield Charm. They were very practical, adding a lot of utility in battle.

He also worked on his Occlumency, as he had no wish for someone to read his thoughts in the future. There was no telling if his knowledge of Gaia was even protected, so it was an essential skill to level.

Harry tried learning the first aspect of Transfiguration, which was Transformation, but he realised that he didn't have enough Control. He had to wait and see what his brand-new wand would be like.

Now that he had access to all his magic, he felt a bit more relaxed about using his Mana more freely. The Dungeon has almost become too easy after running it so many times. One thing he managed to acquire was the last Shadow Aspen set piece, the Aspen Buckler, which granted him the skill Shadow Fade. It was a very cool skill that allowed him to hide in areas of shadow at the cost of mana. This was useful for ambushing enemies or hiding from them. The coolest part was that the skill was permanent even after removing the armour. So even when it became redundant in the future, it was still worth the time it took to grind for the complete set.

A week after the professors visited, he completed the second month of removing his malnutrition and gained two more vitality points. In addition, he grew two inches and gained weight that was more acceptable for someone his age. His body was now lean and not thin, with his ribs showing like before.

The other thing that happened was that his new wand was now ready. Harry travelled to the Tonks' residence on the Knight Bus with his Face-Changing Mask on. He always wore it if he was venturing outside the Whinging area.

"Harry, it's good to see you," Andromeda hugged him before ushering him inside. She guided him to the living room, and they sat down. "I take it the wand is ready?"

"Yeah," Harry nodded. "It will be a relief to get this bloody thing out of my arm."

"Language," Andromeda scolded. "Now, let me take a look."

Andromeda sat next to him and rolled up his sleeves. The fully formed wand was blatantly visible, and Andromeda cast some diagnostic charms on his arm. "Well, your arm doesn't seem to suffer any ill effects. It should be safe to remove. Are you ready?"

Harry nodded, and Andromeda pointed her wand at his arm and cast a spell. Harry felt the moment that the wand was removed and appeared floating in front of him. He plucked it out of the air and examined it closely.

The wand was dark grey with red twisting vines running along its entire length, like veins. It was a straight piece of wood without any fancy adornments or embellishments. Upon first seeing it, he fell in love with its look and swooshed it around a few times in order for him to get a proper feel for it.

"I take it you like it," Andromeda said with amusement. "It's nearly lunchtime. Why don't you stay and have something to eat?"

"That would be great," Harry followed her into the kitchen and watched her as she prepared a meal.

"So, has anything interesting happened to you?" Andromeda asked.

"Well, I got a visit from Dumbledore," Harry said dryly.

Andromeda spun around and looked at him with a worried expression. "Did he do anything to you?"

"No," Harry shrugged. "It turns out that he had a valid reason for his actions. It doesn't absolve him of responsibility, but he said he would work to solve my grievances."

Andromeda placed a plate of food on the table. "Does that mean...?

"Yep. He's trying to get Sirius a trial, but he has to do it covertly because there are some harmful elements," Harry air quoted, "In the Ministry."

"Well, he's not wrong," Andromeda said.

Suddenly they heard a call from the front entrance before Tonks came walking into the kitchen. She came over and engulfed him in a hug.

“Hello, handsome,” Tonks sat down next to him. There was an unusually serious expression on her face. “So, I may have screwed up.”

“What is it?” Harry asked warily. Andromeda turned and listened in on the conversation.

“I might have accidentally let slip to a friend about your ability to escape Dungeons.”

“What?! Harry yelled. “Who is this friend?”

“Well, he doesn’t work for the Ministry if that’s what you are worried about.”

Both Harry and Andromeda sighed with relief. A potential disaster had been avoided. Even though Kingsley knew about his ability initially, Tonks had told him it wasn’t an ability that could be replicated.

“But he is a muggleborn. He works for the Crown.”

So, what do you think? Is he going to get involved with the non-magical government in the future?

Thanks for reading.

Comments

I'm enjoying your take on Dumbledore in this. Very refreshing.

Laharl365

Fair enough.

DualEquinox

In regards to the time-turner idea, you could make some reason to limit its usage to only one or two Harry's being active at any one point in time. Maybe some sort of Temporal Strain debuff that cuts Harry's stats? That would mean he can only have a limited number of instances grinding at any one point in time which should let you balance it better... In regards to the latter, if you have any plans of Harry gaining a Gamer's Body like Perk in the future (Perhaps a high-level Vit Perk?) that could explain it away. After all, a Gamer's Avatar doesn't age like a normal person. Combine it with gaining a Metamorphamagus Perk somewhere along the way and Harry could stop aging at his prime (like a Game Avatar) and just morph away the extra years he gains until his IRL age catches up to his appearance. If anyone ever saw him in his older form they'd end up assuming he morphed into an older-looking form rather than ever suspecting it was the other way around.

DualEquinox

Ah fair enough, I just saw it under the attribute column, over 25 and didn't have a perk and went "that's strange".

DualEquinox

As for multi-training with a suped-up Mp Pool/Mp Regen, I haven't thought that far ahead yet. So, maybe?

GamerFiction

Physical Defence is a derivative stat and not an attribute. Harry increases it mainly by equipment, so it won't have any perks.

GamerFiction

I have thought of adding some characters further down the line but haven't completely decided yet. My version of the abyss is different but adding some characters in sounds fun. The time-turner is a neat idea, but I don't know if I want to go that far, as he would become really overpowered fast. The last few ideas are really neat. I have already thought about building a home in the Empty Dungeon at some point and have the ability to change the Dungeon into a little mini world of his own. Maybe after he gets his ID Create skill so high that it eliminates the penalty of ageing three times while in the Dungeon, but still retains the benefits.

GamerFiction

Just curious but if Physical Defense is an attribute, then shouldn't harry gain a 25 pt perk like the others? Also out of curiosity are you going to feature any of the canon Abyss Guilds and Characters from The Gamer or is the plan to have some common terminology and a common ability be the extent of the crossover here? I only ask because, from memory, Lolikiano Mistrim was European-based before she ran into The Gamer on a mission in Korea and took him on as a student, so having her get involved with Harry in Europe instead could be fun to see. Also in the long term, a trip abroad to Korea could be fun as a school holiday arc or something similar. Speaking of long-term, I hope you realise that if Harry ever got his hands on a time-turner and focused on grinding up I.D. Create it would cause his growth rate would explode. I.D. Create means he can have multiple instances of himself clearing separate Dungeon Instances and doesn't have to worry about interacting with himself and causing a paradox like most time-turner users. Combined that with grinding his I.D. Create up to get Time-Warped Instances and Harry can potentially grind a shit ton of levels in a very short amount of real-world time if it ever becomes necessary. Also as a Harry-unique twist on the I.D Create skill, it might be fun for him to gain some non-combat Instances in his I.D. Spawn List. Like a Dimensional Farm/Ranch, he can grind out skills like Farming, Herbology, Animal Husbandry, Harvesting and Magizoology in. Maybe it could also double as a Skilling I.D. and he could build/gain Workshops attached to his Ranch or something? Idk, but it'd be nice if not all I.D's were strictly "Combat Dungeons", which is a gripe I have with The Gamer - Skilling Dungeons are a thing in most MMO's after all! Another thing I'm wondering about, can Harry multi-train in a similar manner as what happened in the Gamer once he gets his Mp Pool/ Mana Regen up high enough? Passive Magics on Dual Cast, Meditation, Sensing Mana, Element Assimilation, repeated I.D Creation and Escaping while repeatedly using Observe on various things repeatedly to grind out levels in all those simultaneously seems pretty doable tbh. Also sorry for the long rambling comment, I just recently binged this entire fic so I have 15 Chapters worth of commentary and observations backed up, I promise I'll keep it shorter in the future!

DualEquinox

The Ministry will get up to plenty of shenanigans in the future, so he may not have a choice. 🤔

GamerFiction

Good chapter, thanks! And yes, given a choice between Fudge central and any other organization, the mundane government starts to look really good...
