Forgotten Worlds: CPS Release Candidate

FILES ATTACHED.

We're finally here. The last beta file brings suppot to what was the first CPS game: Forgotten Worlds. This title uses a rotary control which needs a specific interface that took some work to implement. Although I have not connected the dial inputs to MiSTer pins yet, all the real hardware is there. At the moment you will use two buttons to rotate the characters. When I can get my hands on a dial solution for MiSTer I will try to support it.

This week is special too because the core has achieved the Release Candidate stage. I think the core is now mature enough to go to the next phase. There is still a little bit of work pending but I am going to need some test material I'm waiting for at the moment.

The Release Candidate MiSTer version is also based on the latest official MiSTer framework. So all features should work as on any updated MiSTer cores.

If you are a high tier member, please check that the way your name and avatar image are displayed in the credits screen is the right one. Please contact me if anything needs fixing.

This version is still not public but it is the candidate to become public. Remember to delete old MRA files.

CPS has been an awesome platform to bring back to life. I am very grateful for all your support and inputs during development.

Comments

As of today it doesn't, but if there is a specific device that people can adopt within MiSTer, we can add support for it.

Jose, does Forgotten Worlds support the real Capcom spinners for the game? I'm trying to see if I can set them up with the Mister to test.

That’s interesting. Dai Makaimura is set in the MRA file to run at 10MHz. I think your PCB might be a converted set as the 12MHz games appeared later in the machine life cycle.

I recently picked up a Daimakaimura A+B+C combo from ebay. It is original CPS hardware with reproduction ROMs. The aboard is the 12mhz - Dash board, which is 2 mhz faster than the original CPS hardware. The reproduction rom used is the Japan Resale rom. I can say that with the turbo option turned on, the CPS mister core is almost exactly the same as the real hardware. Awesome job! It you are interested to know the differences, I'd be happy to share. They are very minor.
