Let's have a different sort of post this time! I was going through some old work and stumbled across old fan art I did of Dota 2 characters. For a strange reason, I wanted to draw them again and I ended up drawing 3 different characters today during my breaks.
While I was doing these, I took this opportunity to reflect about how I convert and simplify the designs of existing characters into my style.

Of course, I looked up references of the characters and their styles and proportions aren't as exaggerated as mine. For this sketch i wanted to emphasize certain features so I shrunk some parts to make other features stand out.

For this guy, I especially wanted to emphasize the facial features so I pushed them a bit and changing his posture. I also changed his back armor to flare out a bit to push his silhouette a bit. His chest plate was a bit too detailed for me so I toned down the details a bit. I think I could've done better though!

This was a more of a bonus thing but I barely changed any of her proportions as I wanted to focus on the pose and silhouette. Her skirt was actually supposed to be much larger but it ruined the silhouette. I also tried simplifying the designs on her torso but, again, I feel like that's something I could work on.

Anyway, thanks for reading this if you got to this part. It was a neat thought exercise and writing this down and doing some post-assessment helps me process this.
