5 Times Undertale Majorly Foreshadows Deltarune

Howdy! So youtube is taking their sweet time with monetization. I (hope) that means we're approved and they're programmed to stall until the last possible second but we'll see.

Because it's uncertain, I've made 2 version of this video. one with a CatCam and one without.

CatCam Version is here: https://youtu.be/e25jTWtmg7U

Cat-Free Version is here (For Reals This Time): https://youtu.be/r-M5_me4f1c

You SHOULD all be able to view it directly on youtube (because I copied your emails into the White List for each video one at a time because Youtube did not offer an alternative) but there's also a download below, and the videos are set to go public in 2 days.

Before they do, I need to decide if I should release the Cat version to the public or the Cat Free one. Cats are cute, by they're also distracting and take up space. So give em a watch and we'll take a poll.

Edit: Apparently the cat-free one did infact, contain cat. This one should not contain cat. So now you can actually compare them.

Best of luck with the finished product.✌️

XD I totally would, but all the voices and images are interconnected in a way that makes adding new content challenging the later in the process I am. What I did here was re-recorded the first voice line ("I've been getting a lot of comments...") but I deleted a few sentences and added some new ones. Then I found the spot in the first draft of the video where it was saved and veeery carefully cut out just the voice line, and stuffed in the new one. But the new voice line was too short so there was this big awkward pause. If I drag the other voice lines closer to fix that, it throws off the timing later when I go "top 5 blah blah" and the voice needs to sync with the sound effects and images. So then I added one or two more words and did that whole process again until it synced "somewhat" better. And then overlaid a new image that says "Thank you to patreons for..." And then I exported. And if this were one file I'd be done, but longer videos lag the program, so I was actually correcting the draft before "The River Person" dialogue, and then I have to run over to the later drafts and re-export them all to compensate. So basically if I want to add more words I either need to also be subtracting some words, or I need to resync eeeeeverything one at a time by hand. And since there's like 5 exports to be re-synced each time, that's kind of a pain. This is why when I realized the "wake up and smell the pain" thing was VERY incorrect, I had to decide if I wanted to delay the video for several more days, or if I wanted to just do what I did (cut out the words that are wrong, change the spacing within that one line to sync with the images, etc). Which sucks because if only I'd caught it earlier I could have added an entire extra minute of dissection to that piece. Ah well. Edit: The Gaster Blaster addition is actually a notable exception since it could be subbed in during a natural break in both the music, voices, and visuals. (very rare to get that lucky). TLDR: is that changing the video is harder the later in the process it is, especially if it's an audio error or addition. But this makes pointing out a mistake before it goes live VERY valuable because once it's live changing it is even harder and actually takes a cost on the channel.

Yeah, you can segue into a Patreon plug from there. "For early access and discussion, join my Patreon for exclusive etc. etc."

Nigel Robinson

Woah. Ty! I'll say "thank you to my patreons" then.

Nigel Robinson

Ah how should I credit you? (Should I say use the name "Nigel Robinson?")

Half Bred Chaos

Ah! Thanks! That helps a lot! Hm now how to fix this... I could try to edit the video before it goes live in... 1 day lol. Or I could put a disclaimer... Glad to have this pointed out early so I can fix it though. :D You're a life saver*

Half Bred Chaos

This video has the disclaimer https://youtu.be/yXL62tZ81p8 On the Deltarune website, here's what Toby said in the faq tab: "DELTARUNE's world is a different one. With different characters, that have lived different lives. A whole new story will happen... I don't know what you call this kind of game. It's just a game you can play after you complete UNDERTALE, if you want to."

Nigel Robinson

O_O Woah wait, really? I had no idea. Which one? (Switch/Xbox/PS4?) I don't have a console right now so I don't have an easy way to check.

Half Bred Chaos

On the console version of Deltarune there's actually a disclaimer after downloading that says it's intended for people who've finished Undertale, and there's a link that will take you to the game's download page. Also, the last Toby talked about Deltarune's relevance to Undertale, he specifically said that it's "something you can play after you finished Undertale". He's clearly trying to be as direct as he can without spoiling anything, so I'd wager completing Undertale is going to be pretty crucial to understanding Deltarune in the future.

Nigel Robinson

Fair point. On screen it says "It's just a game you can play after you complete UNDERTALE, if you want to." 'Can,' and 'should,' aren't quite the same although I understand the confusion. Toby is pretty insistent this "isn't a sequel" and is it's own unique experience in it's own world, so although I can't find a definitive "you must" or "you mustn't!" sort of quote from him, it seems like he supports either decision. I'd argue Deltarune is better if you play Undertale, but, it seems like Toby doesn't want people to worry about that too hard. It can be tricky to talk about how a Content Creator feels about something without putting words in their mouth. The other quote on screen "Please don't worry too much about that. Actually, I'm worried if people worry too much about "what it is," they might not be able to properly enjoy it.." is, I think, probably the closest I can get to divining his true feelings, unless I'm ever fortunate enough to ask him directly.

Half Bred Chaos

@ 0:20 Why did you say that "you don't need to play Undertale before playing Deltarune" when the web page on-screen says the exact opposite? Toby did say that they're different worlds, but he also made sure to call Deltarune a world that exists parallel to Undertale's
