tbh this is absolutely valid too. I'm not gonna argue in defense of Patreon or anything, I just wanted people to know where this particular fee is coming from ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

2024-08-13 06:15:27 +0000 UTCHere's the thing, Medli: I will direct my grievances towards Patreon, because the only reason Apple is pulling this crap is because Patreon doubles down on having an app when it's frankly not needed.. I haven't seen any popular use-case for it (e.g. do you know ANY creator whose Patreon chat is actually active over something like Discord?). And it DOES affect non-iOS users because Patreon is using this (insisting it's Apple's requirement) to kill off billing schemes other than monthly-from-time-of-join. No more per-creation, no more first-of-month. Which, as we know, Patreon WANTED before but had to back down.
