Ramble: Ranking Pop Culture Witches

theres a town in new york called lillydale where all psychics live. might be worth exploring

Sara L Pilson

I grew up adjacent to Anoka, MN, which calls itself the “Halloween Capital of the World” (on all the lampposts in town!). Would not call it very Halloween-y in vibe the rest of the year, though, and I have no idea where that claim comes from lol

Jessica Lysne

I just read the note at 1:22:47 and I'm so sad that the "fan" negativity has made Jenny want to quit, i love Jenny's videos but I also want what's best for her, i know she's talked about blocking people before, I wonder if she blocks people for harassing her, maybe it's hard to tell who is hate watching and who is joking, but I wish she would block them if its affecting her mental health. If she did pause videos making for a while I would understand and keep my patronage to her nastiness 🖤

Emily Durkee

Baba Yaga was robbed

Emily Durkee

I am so late with this but you should visit Derry Ireland for Halloween. Ireland is where Halloween actually originates and there's a great festival there.

Muireann McGlynn

i’ve heard great things about Witch Hat Atelier though I haven’t read or watched it yet. I feel like it would rank high for witch lore and witch aesthetic though. fantastic video your nastiness

Lucie

As a w.i.t.c.h. fan, I find the story and writing to be a lot better than winx, tho both the comic and show definitly have their flaws.

Sewing Savage

Take care of yourself Jenny- I joined your patreon because I want to thank and support you for providing so much entertainment. If you need to step back, do it and protect your own well being <3 but your work is terrific and people who don't appreciate that shouldn't get to decide how you feel about it

Interloper of Puny

I needed this. Really hope Willow shows up from BtVS

Mark Gurke

Real life Halloween town is Sleepy Hollow in New York! Home of the legend of the Headless Horseman. I grew up near there and it was just a regular town and I think the high school mascot was the horseman, but that's it. When I spoke to people in college they were always shocked to find out it was a real place. The past few years the town has really embraced Halloween and now its a really big festival for a couple of months leading up to 10/31. I kinda want to go next year before it becomes completely overrun, crowded, and expensive.

Lissy Gold

whenever I think about the candy house witch I can't help but think whatever extra maintenance spells she had to learn to keep ants and raccoons away from eating her home. She must really like the candy aesthetic because being magical pest control must get old

Mimi

I’m so sorry to hear people are making you feel bad in the comments. Please do whatever you need to protect yourself - turning off comments, taking a break, etc. Your mental health is always the priority 💜

Anne-Sophie Perrault-Carre

What even is this weird-ass comment lmao

MK

I live in Salem and second the recommendation of Flying Saucer Pizza!

Asa Paints

extraHero

Baba Yaga C tier??? But she’s an icon!!! Love the vid though <3

Maggie

honestly, Your Odiousness, please take a break now that you can *choose* to, and not later when you *have to* because you literally can't keep working. If it's worth anything -maybe it isn't, idk how Patreon works on the creator's end, or how you'd want to go about it-, I'd keep my susbscription for however many months you take bc access to your back catalogue is well worth the price

papa-divertida

The Bad Movie video is Unicorn City! I just know it is.

Cat K

3 more pop culture witches that deserve a spot on this list: Kiki from Kiki's Delivery Service, the love witch, and the sisters from practical magic. Excellent video, Your Nastiness. Sorry about all the people that suck

Suzanne

My favorite witch growing up was Angelica Houston in the 1990 movie: The Witches. It was so scary, but I kept renting it from Family Video along with Don Bluth's Thumbelina every.single.time. I was obsessed, haha.

Railey Henry

Fuck the haters. Everyone is jealous of you, and they should be. You're the real S tier witch, Jenny.

Real Princess Peach

I just knew you would be familiar with Casper Meets Wendy. I am so thrilled.

Kristen

Casper's uncle made me feel like that as well, it was awful 😖🤣

Kate

My uncle wrote a Casper movie but I couldn’t remember which one. I looked it up when Jenny said she didn’t want to meet the writer of Casper Meets Wendy. Luckily, he wrote Casper’s Haunted Christmas! And he also wrote Scary Godmother: The Revenge of Jimmy (which is a sequel apparently)!!!! What are the chances that he wrote two movies that are tangentially related to movies discussed here?!

Mary Dedrick

Nyehhh revolting ramble, Your Nastiness

Sebastian Payne

There's something really wholesome about the way Jenny makes herself laugh within the first minute when she says "I will now list some" ... She deserves more of that joy and none of the haters 👎🏼👎🏼

Jaz Mei Luo

Just got my $44 Patreon class action settlement payment lol. Thanks Jenny for giving me an excuse to be on here!

Eric MacMillan

if you need to disable the comments that's 100% valid, the only thing you *actually* promised is the ability to *view* the preview, not discourse about it. also that fazbear hat is so cute! i'm inspried to make a kermit hat for next halloween 💚

Neosaneo

im really sorry to hear that people have been crappy on here recently! i love your videos and have really been enjoying watching your patreon videos but i completely understand if you decide to step back for a bit <3 also now i need to go watch that blair witch mockumentary that sounds so cool!!!!!

Cameron Spiderwick

Funnily enough, I actually stopped paying for the ability to vote on the subjects of your rambles as all of the other people in there annoyed me so much haha. You're a saint for dealing with all that. I have a hard time biting my tongue so for the sake of avoiding arguments I just noped out. Honestly you should just do whatever you want, it's always better when someone doesn't feel forced into something. All the best from a usually silent fan.

nathan

Coming back a short skip later, because I was lamenting to a friend that a few of my favorite content creators ALL seem to be having similar "community" problems at the same general time, and he pointed me to a Youtube video called "Community" by Matthew Colville. It's somewhat business minded, but it's basically if someone's being negative, or wants you metaphorically to sell pie when you're selling pizza (be who/what you aren't), you refund them, block them, bye. He draws a really hard line between real community, and people who are in that space who are NOT community. Refunds are powerful. Granted, this won't work everywhere. I can't imagine bullying stress on platforms where blocking is less manageable. But here? On Patreon? If any of us here aren't the community Jenny wants, refund, block, bye. Lol. This should feel 100% safe for her to express her views, and disagreement should be fun and conversational, not hostile. Anyway, again, lots of my favorite, smart, considerate content creators are struggling with similar stuff right now, and his video helped give me some of the words I think I was seeking when talking to my friend, so maybe others will like it, too.

Amy Cooper

Thank you for the excellent video, your Nastiness! You've got good taste in witches!

Andrew Biederman

I am devastated for you that you feel so harassed you don't want to post anymore 💔 I'm so sorry people are so cruel Jenny :(

Poppy Wade

Does Adelaide: The Good Woman of the Wood not count as a witch?

Reina Woods

Wasn't there a 3 hr barbie video or something like that coming for the regular YouTube channel?

Brian Lattie

Also want to remind myself and others that we are paying for random/off the cuff rambles, not always fully fledged thoughts that we're guaranteed to agree with. And that when commenting, tone and familiarity and joking doesn't always come across well online. Even paying up to $25 a month is just a really nice drive through car wash but it doesn't mean you can get out and harass the spinning brushes, even if they did miss a spot

Anna F

Jenny - This is embarrassing but I recently woke up, thought I had a great idea, and in my fugue state I made a post on reddit, went back to sleep, and promptly forgot about it until a few hour later when I was getting notifications about it. It hit the front page with a solid 4.1 million views and ~1.5K comments. It was a small, dumb situation and I was anonymous and what I said didn't actually matter at all. I was struck by something I posted essentially in my sleep being seen by what amounted to a city's worth of people. And so many comments were by people who obviously either weren't interacting in good faith or were bots or hadn't actually read what I wrote and understood it. I kinda spent the weekend crashing out about it tbh. It really, really got me thinking about internet, parasocialism, tribalisim, etc. It got me thinking about how you and other creators get millions of views with your name, face, opinons, etc. in full display. I'd say in general there's about 1/100 people who I just really don't like because they're mean and rude. And dealing with one or two people is really easy. But 1/100 of a million is 10,000 rude people. That's insane and just not something I think human brains are well equipped to handle all the time. All that to say: it doesn't matter if I would be okay with your taking a break or not (I would be, obviously, for what its worth). But, to my fellow patrons: whatever we're doing: STOP IT.

Anna F

With respect & fear I truly hope you do whatever you need to do for your own mental health. We’ll all be here, and the majority of us (who actually like you) will patiently wait if you need a break. I sincerely hope you feel the freedom to do what’s best for you, your revoltingness🖤

Aragog's 7th leg

Jenny, your nastiness, I just want to join in the chorus of people sending you love. I’m so sorry people are being rude and awful in the comments. I feel like sometimes online we forget how to talk to each other in kind and constructive ways and I can’t imagine how exhausting it is being on the receiving end. You should absolutely look after yourself and set whatever boundaries you need. I’ve recently had a period of enforced rest due to illness, so take it from me stress has a way of catching up, please take a break if you need to.

Sanja Ramic

To anyone who has been harassing or relentlessly bothering Jenny: Having the audacity to think paying for a creator's Patreon entitles you to be a jerk to the creator is wild. Shame on you. She doesn't owe you anything. Please get a life and lay off.

Kathryn Rose Hunter

Am I wrong/missing something?

Clark

Did anyone else mention "Agatha All Along"? Did I miss it or is it too Wanda centric? To me, that show has the most Modern Witch Tropes And Interest Per Hour of anything I'VE seen recently. (Sorry if this has already been Asked And Answered Your Honor)

Clark

omg i never knew scary godmother was a film, but i looked it up and it is based on the comic book by jill thompson which was how I knew scary godmother, and I remember the books being so colorful and full of whimsy, so there's that. the film version does look uncanny!

brenda

My vote for a popculture Salem witch would be Sarah from Scooby Doo and the Witch's Ghost. I always thought that was the best scooby movie because it was actually scary for a kid, but maybe I'm biased since it also introduced the Hex Girls.

Jen B

Your nastiness, I know there are already hundreds of comments saying essentially the same thing but: I'm so sorry about all the hate you've been getting, and please do not feel bad about prioritizing your mental health!! Loved the video (like always), and take care <3

Jiska wow

If you're feeling like things are too much, take as much time as you need! We'll still be here when you come back. Your mental health is the most important thing!

Sam H

jenny / your nastiness, im so sorry about the harassment :( we love you and your content, so excited for the mystery movie video!!

Sophie

This is my first time commenting on one of your videos and many other commenters have already said this more eloquently, but I want to add to the chorus of people who love your work so much and am so sorry that you’re experiencing stress from the haters. I’ll support you in whatever you choose to do. Above all, please take care of yourself. ❤️

Kiana

"like it or not, pump is a witch now" so true 🧙🏽‍♀️

Neosaneo

Brand new Patreon person here, and I can't agree more with the sentiments echoed throughout about 1-so sorry internet people suck and 2-do what you need to do. You have such obvious deep love, understanding and passion for the subjects you talk about. From really deep and astute insights into things I'm familiar with (Star Wars) to being swept up with your passions I know/knew nothing about (My Little Pony), all with amazing delivery, editing and humor...Jenny, I couldn't be happier for your successes and angered by the trolls. All things others have said better than I and often, but... If you need a break, we'll be here if/when you come back. You seem like a genuinely awesome person...please take care.

Clark

going right from cartoon evil witch into gritty horror movie witch is so good 😆 only the best from Your Nastiness

c

Can't believe The Witch from Beastly got the snub smh.

Sûs

omg what an eccentric hat

Andrew van Baarsen

Damn I really hoped for willow from buffy

Andrew van Baarsen

if you feel like you need to take a break then you should take a break!! we'll all still be here when you come back <3

Eleanor Magnuson

been a huge fan of your since the suicide squad pitch video. take the time you need! frankly, i think taking some time away from commentary and compiling curated media lists (playlists, commercials, movies, tv) could be a great way to hibernate without fully hibernating. kind of like this halloween collection!! thanks for all your hard work, jenny!! 💜💜💜

Kat

Only just got to the end of this video but in case you read this just want to add to what others are saying - I'm so sad (and shocked) you've been getting all this criticism from those who are meant to be your supporters. Do whatever you need to do! And this was a great, fun video, I'm off to watch The Covenant...

Cate Allison

Wait oh my god. Wen Weaver, the hair trigger fire witch, was not in the list. Also, please take care, your horribleness. People on the internet suck, and I'm really sorry to hear they've been wearing you down. You're my favorite creator and you seem like a lovely person, so if you need time to feel better then please do. I wouldn't mind keeping support for you during this time, and I think a lot of others wouldn't either.

Alvaro Becker

Oh yes: Baba would rank low because she's not really a witch -- just dresses the part. Hazel is MEANT to be a stereotypical witch, so of course she ranks. Morgana is shown using incantations and learning to make potions, which combined with her cultural impact and that she's played by Helen Mirren make her S tier 😆

Darren Pierce

This was fun. Other witches I would add are Witch Hazel from Looney Tunes, Baba from Dragon Ball, and Morgana specifically from the movie Excalibur. Remember that those who love being here far outweight nuts, and if you give in to nuts, you only embolden them to make more people miserable. And I was serious about my other comment: We want to see hats you got in Japan!!!

Darren Pierce

I'm not super online so I was surprised to see that there's been such a ramp up of negativity against you, which I guess I should just anticipate anytime a woman has an opinion online. But man that really sucks, I follow so many YouTubers and yet your content is always so impressive in its depth of analysis and clarity in its explanation. I don't even care much for theme parks, but I took my friends to Phantasialand because of your videos and took more time to appreciate the small details that went into creating a theme park atmosphere. I hope you're doing ok and offer as much support as an anonymous random patreon member can. Anything for her nastiness!

Ichabod Throgmorton

Delightful video (your repulsiveness)

Delfina

I'm almost charmed by the ridiculousness

Delfina

Re. Salem, I have a suggestion for less baggage-y Halloween destination: Edinburgh. I happened to be there on Halloween and the vibes were impeccable

Deepti Kannapan

Paimon isn't the devil; he's a friend and a guide.

Steve Ray

I am so happy you mentioned that Blair Witch tv documentary, I remember being terrified of the illustrations as a kid. We lived at the edge of a big forest and my brother used to tell me the Blair Witch moved there so I had to be careful....I was young and gullible.

Whittershins

I hope it's Balto

Alex

Disappointed her nastiness excluded the witch from hit film Beastly, but I still support her. (Also I’m terribly sorry about the harassment you continue to endure, I really wish people were more normal about women online (and irl).)

Evan L Rodríguez

Granny weatherwax was purposefully left out of the ranking because there's no tier above S

Kit Miller

Don't worry about the haters, they're just bitches. I'm obsessed with the rat beanie baby 💕

Tina Mora

We love you Jenny please keep trying to ignore the negativity

Maura McCarney

Kiki from Kiki’s delivery service??

Maura McCarney

Fairies are cooler than witches?? You still have a long way to go... so disapoint.

Danny

Thank you for the video your evil nastiness

Nerdy Bird

I'm so sorry that people act so negatively for no reason, Jenny! Your stuff is always cozy comfort content for me!

Hagen Macy

I didnt watch this when it came out because halloween is a busy time, which is a shame cus i adore the set design of this one so much, its so festive! love the orange black and green everywhere and the gruntilda plush is awesome

PurpleIsDebeste

I think it's unavoidable in a video about pop culture witches, as HP is still a juggernaut. I have no desire to reread the books, but it is interesting for me to revisit the series through the eyes of others and discover how what seemed like such revolutionary storytelling and world-building to my teen self now feel so rote, standard, stereotypical, and unimaginative. It really was Baby's First Fantasy Series.

Eric Houge

Willow probably goes in the same tier as the witches from Charmed, right? I guess she's a bit more boho. Even though Buffy is one of my favorite shows, I feel like they had no consistent plan for how to write witches, so the rules, rituals, and powers change as need be. Plus the dumb trope of "Willow coincidentally just happens to be the most powerful witch ever". And I don't find the quasi-Wicca approach to be all that interesting visually. My favorite portrayal is in the season one episode, "Witch", with the classic bubbling cauldron and fetishes/dolls; it would have been a lot more interesting to evoke the same imagery with Willow et al later on, so they still feel like the fun Halloween version of witches but just on the side of good this time.

Eric Houge

When I first joined the Patreon, I saw zero negativity and was impressed how effective a paywall could be at keeping out the hateful riffraff, even if it was as low as $2/month. I'm not saying there WAS zero negativity, but not so much that a casual comment browser like me would notice it. That changed after the Galaxy Cruiser video came out, and I started to notice a lot more people picking fights over innocuous differences of opinion etc. It's unfortunate that this is how so many people experience fandom--as a weapon to divide and a source of hollow superiority. I would understand you pausing the Patreon, but raising the price a bit might also get those people to give up and wander off? Anyway, my brain loves Tier List Rankings and this is my favorite type of ramble, a lighthearted, scatterbrained (by design) commentary on a supremely trivial yet compelling aspect of pop culture. Loved it.

Eric Houge

Hey Jenny, I’m sorry there’s been a lot of negative chatter recently. I’m kind of a silent viewer, and I think there are a lot of us who just watch and enjoy your content, but don’t often comment on it. The negative comments are the loud minority. There’s a lot of quiet support out there for you!

Chloe Cassandra Koons

Jenny I have the patreon app just for your videos they make my whole week when you post. I especially LOVED your video on internet horror it’s one of my favorites

Patricia Schlabendorff

I live about 5 miles north of Sleepy Hollow in Ossining , and boy does SH get busy as all hell all October. Cemetery tours, spoken word recitals of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, magic shows, and bar hopping! We try not to drive anywhere near there that whole month.

The Great Quux

The town you're looking for that's spooky year round is Sleepy Hollow NY! It's really cute.

starpit

It's such a bummer to hear about people being negative towards your stuff. I agree with the person who commented below that your content is not only entertaining, but your insights and sense of humor feel so in tune with my own sensibilities. Your videos are engaging, hilarious, and relaxing all at once. Truly one of a kind. At the end of the day, taking care of oneself should always come first, so if that means not posting, then that's obviously the correct choice. But hopefully, people can find better uses of their time and energy, and you can keep being your cool, creative self.

Teddy Dean

I contacted Patreon to complain about the format change of putting suggested accounts on the homepage feed where there’s no way to avoid them. I suspected that they were paid promotions like on Instagram. They responded with what seemed to be confirmation that they were but using vague language. I responded to them that they shouldn’t be putting what are essentially advertisements under Jenny’s posts without her permission and told them I’d tell Jenny about it. They immediately responded with a clarification that they weren’t paid promotions. I don’t know if I misunderstood their first message or if they lied to me in their second message out of fear of Jenny. Jenny jokes about wanting to be called Your Fearsomeness but people really are terrified of her.

Louis Z

"yes, your nastiness" we all say in unison

FishWitches

I think if comments stress you out you should totally turn them off. Also a kind of witch that might go into the general theory of pop culture witches is normal creepy people who are in a coven and are in a deal with the devil. EG Rosemary's Baby, Hereditary

Eric Kaplan

so sorry you've been getting harassment. you are one of my favourite content creators

Jasmine Jordan

Completely agree with you. The entire reason I was never able to get into Winx Club was because I thought the art style was hideous.

Nina Røste

how about RUTH GORDON from Rosemarys' Baby? That is a scary witch!!

Eric Kaplan

VERY controversial take on Baba Yaga. She is so obviously a god tier witch.

Eric Kaplan

just want to send a message of positivity and normalness re: the end section of the video! i light up every time you post on patreon - i watch each upload over and over in the between-points of my day. you're one of those creators where i feel totally in-tune with the rhythm of your thinking. so i am shocked (but not surprised, unfortunately) that the harassment is so thorough that it might affect your ability to continue posting. truly disgusting behavior, and especially on a paid-for platform. freaks freaks freaks. finally, thank you for making me aware that i should hate casper's uncles. i hate them now

maggie yarbrough

But have you had the pizza

Jenny Nicholson

First controversial opinion of Jenny I've encountered, I'm sorry WINX CLUB has a better art style and clothes than W.I.T.C.H??? HARD disagree

Kalina

did the Fritz Lieber witches from Conjure, Wife movie Burn Witch Burn get a mention? How about "Summer of Fear"? that was a scary witch.

Eric Kaplan

As someone from Salem MA... I am here for this... and my take... you are right. Salem had no "actual" witches....

Nathaniel Snow

What a weird thing to pay to harass someone! Freaks! My current favorite witch is Sophie in the Howl’s Moving Castle book but they don’t let her do a lot of witch stuff in the movie which is a let down.

Maddie

I hate how right you are omg

Lindsey

Jenny you make great content and I am so sorry that people make you feel uncomfortable on here. You gotta do what's best for you. Haters are the worst.

David O'Connell

Do whatever is best for your health Jenny, we'll still be here even if you put Patreon on pause! Don't let the haters get you down! Also another great video your disgustingness!

Cristina Anderson

So, the plot of Scary Godmother is the benevolent version of the Rocky Horror Picture Show plot?

Eli Heina Dadabhoy

this was soooo fun and perfect for the end 2 halloween szn ty for another great vid:)

Sophie Maloney

Shocked you had Baba Yaga but no mention of Strega Nona, the supreme literary witch! Also kept listening and waiting to hear where you rank Willow and the other witches from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and was very surprised no mention of Kiki's Delivery Service!

JohnLauren LanzottiJohnson

Here is the scene that broke Jenny, and it is truly worthy of scorn: https://youtu.be/rdfe4dBOM94?si=xI1Ui6CFqAMAsQ6D&t=2876

Heather

Me: *Enjoying a delicious patreon ramble video* Jenny: Don't you just love WORM patreon ramble video?

Nick Powell

Bit disappointed Harry Potter is still discussed. If you want to reference a British literary witch of renown, I'd much rather Jenny had included Granny Weatherwax (Discworld).

Dave Ruff

I remember reading it's *a* baba yaga, not a single character, as some stories have groups of baba yagas working together.

Genevieve Leblanc

My favorite thing about the Winx witches is that (at least in the 4kids dub) they're constantly using the word as a sort of minced swear for bitch. I wish they had kept that bit of lore for the live-action show, if they had been calling each other witches as a serious insult it might've been tolerable

Cate C

When you mentioned fairy tale witches I was like !!! I can mention my favorite witch fairy tale! I highly recommend "The Necklace of Princess Fiorimonde" as having an S tier witch, actually two S tier witches. Fiorimonde is a princess who is actually- surprise- the student of an old and evil witch who lives in the mountains (spooky) who is teaching her how to use magic to make herself beautiful. The princess sneaks out of her room at night by feeding magic peas to a sparrow who becomes giant and flying it to the witches hut and she dances with a bunch of evil demon-creatures. Eventually the king tells her she needs to get married but she doesn't want to so she asks the witch for help and the witch gives her a magic necklace that turns people into beads and she starts turning princes and kings who try to marry her into beads. A maid and manservant of a prince who goes missing have to stop her. Its like my favorite fairytale and I wish it was a fairytale movie because it goes so hard, best evil princess of all time.

OtterofLore

omg I have a 7 hour halloween playlist on spotify!! gonna steal some of your songs

ashlen

oh Jenny we love your content and appreciate your work and humour and you so so much! please don't leave you're the only creator I joined Patreon for 😭

rhizzo

Agree with you on how unfunny and irritating those "bonk each other on the head" characters can be. Side note on Casper though: In the comics he was never supposed to be the soul of a dead child-- he was just a juvenile noncorporeal being.

Ham

hey now, i was a boy who enjoyed the covenant…of course it's because i was a baby queer and hadn't quite figured out why i liked this movie so much but my friends didn't lol

TalysAlankil

I am curious about how Vanessa Ives from Penny Dreadful would fit into your rubric. There are more traditional witches in the show but she is very complicated.

KWoz

This was a fun topic, but as a witch/wizard/magic-user lover myself, I felt you were too harsh on those who didn't fit the classic witch mold. I like classic and modern witches, or anyone you'd consider a magic user. I like them all!

Gracereza

Has Jenny not seen The Owl House? Surprised by its exclusion. Disappointed but not surprised by the exclusions of Bayonetta and The Secret Circle (Jenny needs to watch this one; it's from the TVD creators).

Gracereza

I always find that when I start to think I need a break it means I needed a break a month ago. Would miss your content but would be happy to know you are doing what's right for you.

Grant Wekesser

York in England is a good Halloween town! There's thematic mesh ghost statues in various gardens, and people hunt for small ghost statues - and there's a dark ride museum of Viking era York. Not quite Halloween but has some good dark ride/animatronic content

Zoë Richardson

excellent content your nastiness but where is the ranking of the witch from beastly !!! i need to know

Gabrielle Fullam

I'm so sorry to hear that you've been struggling with a bunch of nasty people. You're honestly my favorite creator, I love listening to your videos in the background, It's just something about your way of looking at everything with a positive outlook and your love of some crazy niche subjects that is very relaxing to me. And while I would miss the monthly rambles, if you feel like you need a break, please don't be afraid to take one. I think some great witches for the list would be the two from Spirited Away. Yubaba has the mystery and evilness, while Zeniba lives in a typical witch house and has more of a mentor role.

Njipep

Your Supreme Nastiness, I just love your witch hat so much! That is a quality hat that also looks comfortable. I didn't know a lot of the witches in the list but enjoyed hearing about them. I think the only omission I would point out is "Witch Hazel", the recurring witch character in various Looney Tunes shorts. Classic green skin, hat, round body and super-skinny legs (with clunky high heeled shoes) AND she rides a broom! And my favorite thing is, when she runs or flies off screen she often leaves behind several bobby pins spinning in the air.

Paulie Paul

Excellent tier list your putridness, without saying too much you check out the movie Weapons if you haven’t yet.

Chandler Ford

Great video, your nastiness. I love when they're about random media. I'm so Sorry for the harassment you've been getting :((( people can be awful. Is it not possible to ban someone from your Patreon?

Shamhatty

Great video my nastiness! If you’re looking for some more fun old Halloween music, may I suggest two songs from the 1910s: “That Syncopated Boogie-Boo” and “Skeleton Rag”! Both are fun and silly!

L G

It makes me so sad to hear Jenny talk about how volatile people can get about her takes!! Like, obviously her takes hold value, but at the same time, she's just some random person on the internet. Why hold her to such a grossly high bar that if she dares to say something you disagree with/dislike, you start harassing her about it? Genuinely blows my mind. Jenny's videos are one of the few pieces of content I watch that have roughly zero semblance of a fandom, and I think that's awesome. It feels nice to take a break from fan infighting and bad faith interpretations, and just sit back and watch a silly video and know I will find it fun even if I've never heard of the topic before. Feels wayyyy too lighthearted to me to see such horrible responses that make her feel the urge to take a break. Obviously she should do whatever is best for her as a person, but like, why does it have to be so deep (to her haters) that her presence warrants all this nastiness? I really really don't get it.

Lanceeee

Your Royal Malice: Since horrible people always make themselves known, the rest of us might as well speak up too. I enjoy every one of these videos, as well as the main channel ones, and never once have I found myself thinking "Man, I wish this had been rushed". So thanks for your work!

Martin G

ty for the video as always, your nastiness <3 the utmost respect for your dedication to your niches. also: casper the friendly ghost actually holds up imo, and i personally loved that movie because i was in love with bumbling dad bill pullman

Milo

Seriously thank you as well 💯✌️❤️

Amelia B

I just watched that movie for the first time and it was such a trip lol

AshFerraz

Your nastiness, If it makes any difference to hear it from just one person, please know you have a genuine community behind you who adores your work and sincerely appreciates your originality. Your work is second to none in its quality and it’s been a staple in my house for almost a decade now. The idea that people would pay to become patrons just to harass and bully you is completely pathetic, and honestly laughable. Surely there is a better use of their time AND money, but I suppose when you’re a creep like that you have nothing better to do. If they have a problem with me saying that, to quote your evermore video - they can meet me in the parking lot. Thank you for your years of hard work and dedication to the craft - it never ever goes unnoticed. We will support you no matter what that looks like because your well being comes first.

carolinestreet

Excellent video your nastiness. Love the appreciation for Madam Mim. My personal favourite popculture witch is The Witch from the 90s Moomin series. She is initially scary but not evil. She just thinks the Moomins are too nice and wimpy, so they are a bad influence on her grand daughter Alicia, who she wants to concentrate on her witch studies. She flies on a broomstick and I love how the bristles move when she accelerates. She lives in a hut in the middle of the woods. She casts spells. I believe she also has a cauldron and brews potions from time to time. Her wardrobe is a bit unconventional for a witch but I think that is because of the Japanese origin of the animation. The character herself is not an original Moomin (book) character. My absolute favourite thing about her is her voice. It is iconic. Very creaky and personal. But I mean the Finnish voice actor, I don't know if the American one lives up to it. All in all a commanding presence and although she's firmly S-tier on my own list, I would argue she has earned A-tier placement even on Jenny's standards.

sssilppuri

Where did you read this? I don't think this is true, the Baba Yaga isn't a type of witch but one character who is called that. She's not consistently characterized because she's a folkloric character that appears in many stories and can fulfill different roles and themes, there's no definitive Baba Yaga canon to nail down because that's just not how folklore develops. But she's always THE Baba Yaga, not one of many.

Silky

Kiki (delivery witch) may or may not fit the criteria here, but I think Kiki's mum definitely does (science-based) potions, even if they live cottagecore life. Also shout out to Jan Pieńkowski's Meg & Mog books/TV for super iconic witches; Grotbags (on aesthetics alone); Evil Edna who is a witch but in the shape of a TV; and the witches of Discworld.

noii

I’m so sorry to hear about the harassment you’ve been experiencing :( Of course please do whatever you need for your mental health but your patreon would be very missed! I really hope the bad apples can be weeded out.

zozo's bizarre adventure

I know realistically theres no time to review EVERY pop culture witch because theres quite a lot but I was curious about your thoughts on where Witchiepoo from H.R. Pufnstuf, shes got all the hallmarks of a classic witch but orange skin instead like oooh and also she is heavily inspired by the wicked witch of the west!

Alex

Even if you did, nothing wrong with that.

Fiona V

Ew. She’s like a toothpick. Or were you attracted to the ugly beady eye child..?

Rywookie

Ummm the Witches? Staring Angelica Houston, and later remade with Anne Hathaway??? Edit: also YZMA??? Oh and also, please watch Weapons because we got our newest most iconic actual witch in modern movie history: Aunt Gladys

Rywookie

WHERE IS THE BEASTLY WITCH??? S TIER!! Also Minecraft Witches are a B

David Navas

I've been making eccentric hats too!!!

Occa Americana

I genuinely love that you describe Steven Strait as the guy from Sky High, the failed teen superhero movie where he wasn’t even the main guy, as opposed to the main character in The Expanse, the high-budget sci-fi show that ran for six seasons. I make all my friends watch Sky High and I never finished The Expanse, so, thank you!

Benny N

I would hate to see you go away because you are easily my favorite content on youtube and I am so looking forward to all the videos you've talked about coming up. But of course, none of those are as important as your health and well being.

Rachel Chabot

I had no idea people were being so awful, I’m so sorry, Jenny! You’ve been my favorite creator for years and years, I look forward to your monthly rambles all month, your videos have been such a huge comfort during so many terrible times in my life. Please take good care of yourself! I would be so sad to lose you as a content creator, but your mental health always comes first!

psycheDahlia

I think Jenny has to have her Patreon videos marked as “For Kids” because the only way to guarantee YouTube won’t put ads on your videos is to mark them as being “For Kids” - even if a video isn’t monetized by the video creator, YouTube can still insert ads and then just collect the ad revenue themselves

psycheDahlia

Just upgraded my membership because I didn’t realise the small spiders doesn’t see the preview videos, I hope it doesn’t look like I only upgraded to get credit privileges 😫

Kyle Perry

Scary godmother was lowkey my gay awakening I can’t lie

Vanessa S.

I don't usually comment on any video ever, but I want you to know how much I enjoy your patron videos Jenny! Thank you for persevering through the meanies. Just remember they don't matter! And the rest of us love you 😊💜

Kristie Anderson

Yes your nastiness!

Gillian Paxton

kids who's role model were the witty child characters from the 90s grew up to enjoy Marvel movie inspired dialogue... jokes aside, it's maddening to hear people are being mean to you about your video output. so many people don't realize how much time and effort goes into creating anything, let alone the hours worth of video you make consistently. you're in your every right to take some time off or at least turn off comments for a while if it would help with the stress. it's really stupid that people are treating you like this, but it's good to remember there's a whole lot more people who love your videos and supports you in making them

itsarockfact

So sorry to hear about the harassment. The ramble videos are a fun little thing to look forward to each month, but I really hope Jenny does whatever she needs to for her own health and sanity.

Jay

I grew up with musical girls anime and I recommend Little Witch academia for great witch content! they have magic, brooms, pointy heads and old witch families, and it's a musical school! sorry to hear that people have been weird, take care and happy Halloween!

Jessica Hung

Yzma S tier!

Deepseabunnies

it’s really disheartening to hear about the harassment you’re experiencing :( they truly do not deserve you

Ella Taran

You joke, but I can't think of any other notable youtubers who've gone on the record denouncing the Salem Witch Trials; as such I'm forced to conclude that they're all pro-Trials, so thank you for taking this stance

Evan

heem heeeeem, hehehee, yes ur nastiness, yes of course your revoltingness heeem heem

Ella Taran

Very upsetting to hear that people have been unkind to Jenny on here :( I have been part of the Patreon for years now and have no plans on stopping, I love ramble videos and have rewatched a lot of them many times!!! Jenny you have been my favorite YouTuber for a very long time now! I’ll watch and be delighted with any content you decide to put out!!!!! Thanks for another great months and I look forward to your next video :)

lulu forsum

For the Hp show turning out to be derivative from the originals I'm almost relieved. I haven't been following updates bc as a trans person I just don't engage with it anymore. But if the show turned out to be well written and original, rather than a retread, you'd get a thousand fans moodling about saying "but hp is my confort series! It's so good and awesome I have to watch it!" Or get young kids interested in the series rather than millenials clinging to their childhoods. Idk. Maybe a mediocre series no one cares about is for the best.

Luthien Tinuviel

I always saw Baba Yaga's all-over-the-place nature as being because, like, she's mercurial. She's like the old fairy tale Devil. She's the dragon, the fae. Sometimes she's there to teach you a lesson, sometimes she's just in a bad mood and plans to take it out on you.

Lorelei

I haven't yet finished the video but I'm honestly disgusted that people would be harrassing Jenny! She is probably the most unproblematic creator I follow and the only one i subscribe to on Patreon because the extra content is just so great. Why would anyone hate on her? Sure she makes videos a little slower but there's so much effort and passion put in. Like I'm trying to think of a reason to dislike her and I can't find one. I guess i like Mean Girls the musical much more than she does but my taste isn't very good....

Luthien Tinuviel

I love these monthly videos, I have no expectations. It’s just nice to hear Jenny’s thoughts on something while I work or do chores. People need to chill out.

Janine

Anyone else have an issue where they can’t watch the YouTube mirror video in the MiniPlayer because it’s “for kids”. Super annoying.

Janine

I enjoy watching your ramble videos every month and always find them funny and insightful. It sucks to hear other people are being weird or overly-negative about shit, though, and if you need to pause this in the future it's totally fine with me. That said, I am surprised Teen Witch (1989) didn't get a callout in this. That was constantly playing on Disney Channel when I was growing up, and while not "good" there's a lot of elements and inexplicable music numbers that stick with me. Definitely worth a fall group watch for anyone looking for a silly and extremely 80s time.

Spiky Ditto

I would like to see a showdown between Anoka, MN, the self-declared Halloween capital of the world, and Independence, KS which has the Neewollah festival Jenny referred to.

Gabriel

I love that the hocus pocus description of the town is truly just real life salem. It’s a joy to visit

Weston Grey

If you are able to financially, you should definitely take a step back for your mental health!

Kieu

just another voice in support of you doing whatever is best for your mental health & general well-being!! your videos are great (low key prefer the rambles to main channel content) & appreciate all the work that goes into every thing you put out. but i would never want you to push yourself past a point of sacrifice just to continue making content. definitely do whats best for you!! i wont speak for anyone else but i surely wont ever hold it against you. and will stay subscribed at my measly $1 a month even if you never put out a video again! at least until a point where i rely on that $1 to survice in some way lol

reina

Lmao I haven't been on the voting Patreon tier in a while, but it makes me happy to know Tier ranking fish is still going strong as a suggested topic 🤣

Jaz Mei Luo

As bad as the West may have been, the way witches are identified and treated in modern-day Africa is a thousand times worse. Google about it if you'd like to feel sad.

Steve Ray

Oh, *whatever*, Holden, you phony! Her Malevolence would *never* be so trite and obvious as to make a FNAFF video... so *obviously* Our Lady of Loathesomeness has been working on a video about the live-action, thunder-stealing (because it came out slightly earlier), FNAFF-usurping, niche indie-horror Cult Classic... The Banana Splits movie! And for my final, irrefutably conclusive proof that *I* am the original, authentic, #1 fan of Her Nastiness, this version of The Banana Splits was 110%-furry-adjacent, because it has animatronic performing robots inside the whole-body costumes for Beagle, Fleagle, Drooper, and Snork. #FaaLaaLaaFaLaLaLaaaaFaLaLaaaFaaLaLaLaaaaaaaa!

Steve Ray

Your mental health comes first, I would miss you but you know what's best for you!

Sophie!

omg how have i never heard of The Covenant, def adding that to my watch list. hope you had a happy Halloween Jenny! it makes me so mad that people are harassing you to the point of making you not want to post as often, i wish people could chill the f out and stop being weird but alas... i saw someone else suggest maybe getting a moderator for your comments if that's a possibility? anyways do whatever you feel would be best, if that's disabling comments all together go for it!

Selina

I did not get a good Bonnie placement, but that fault lies entirely with the writers and not Jenny or Bonnie. We do NOT stan Julie Plec.

Sideshow Bob Stepping On Rakes

I will miss you if you pause or quit, and I am sure many others will also, but take care of yourself - your happiness is priceless.

Patter

The Witch from Basil Hears a Noise merits the S tier because she is a classic witch and she is also a Muppet and that rules. Also I watched the nostalgic Halloween ads playlist last week while doing some work and it was so fun! My favorites were when local pumpkin patches would be highlighted for some wild reason (two parents got into fisticuffs over a custody arrangement at the pumpkin patch and also a semitruck fully flattened a roadside haunted house).

Becca Yaga

i’m really shocked the witch from brave and practical magic didn’t make this list!! they feel like good representations of the two witch archetypes you laid out; the brave witch is a classic crone and practical magic is extremely “trendy” lol. very good list though and i’m hype for the main channel video

Arielle Lyons

The GLEE I felt when you ended with the Covenant. Absolutely one of my favorite movies from when I was a teen.

Rebekah Fisher

I just want to know where The Witch from Beastly ranks.

Katie Bertola

I'm a huge fantasy nerd about to dive into Discworld after devouring several other series. So excited!!

I wish you could experience Halloween in my small Canadian town. Streets are running wild with children, every house is spooky, and the firehouse is set up as a free haunted house. Might even wake up to TP'ed houses/kids getting in trouble for egging!

as a baba yaga enjoyer i would say peak baba yaga to me is in the old russian movie morozko/father frost. has the chicken feet house. played in a very campy way to me. MULTIPLE familiars including a hog that turns into a sleigh?? tries to cook someone in an oven but gets outsmarted because 'kids these days dont even know how to get into an oven to get cooked'. icon. and the english dub is actually really good and on youtube!

catboybananabread

I love to hear I'm not the only child that overanalysed and hated characters especially gross ones lol. My list would have included the Witch from Moomin

Gemma

I'm glad the scary godmother movie always being on during Halloween season was a core memory for everyone else. The only part of the movie I remember is them making some smore snack thing

Frostfalls

Upset to read about the ongoing harassment! If you feel you need to take a break to recharge and get some space from the negativity, I'll still be a patron whenever you return, Your Rotteness.

Joshua Marchant

The nicest thing to call anyone is a magnificent bastard. It’s like they’re not just magnificent but the magnitude of their magnificence is so huge as to be shockingly offensive to those who can only dream of achieving such magnificence. Jenny, you magnificent bastard, it’s great that you put a hat on Pump! Pump, you magnificent bastard, you look great in that hat!

Louis Z

Hey I just wanted to say that if responses to your videos are becoming so unpleasant as to not be worth the video (which is awful and I'm sorry), I'd recommend disabled comments wherever you can for a bit. Mental health is important, I'd rather you be preemptive aboutbit than struggle after the fact.

Ophelia Brock

Frau Holle is less a witch and more like a nature spirit / goddess. There's a lot of lore about her beyond the fairytale she's famous for nowadays. Some of these go wayyy back and are really hardcore, like that she's living in ponds where she's keeping the souls of unborn children. Some of her elements are so archaic that she's theorized to be a remnant of a neolithic 'mother nature' type goddess. <3 Gruntilda btw. The witch of my youth. Love everything about her. I used to play all the witch themes on the piano.

Ululagadata

When u showed that ghost uncle i lost it ahahahah

Keenan Toussaint

Just wanna add a comment cause we often forget to add comments when we like something, but I think your work is awesome, hilarious, and your fascination with the 'weird' truly make you one of my favorite creators to watch! I totally understand if you need to take a break, but just wanted to let you know many of us love your content and just don't comment/ read others' comments.

gostovah

that's such a shame about the mean comments :( I'm really looking forward to your next video. also I love the freddy hat!!

wlliewithane

nastiest video so far! loved it!

Connor Bradshaw

delete this comment on the off chance i’m right, but what if the furry adjacent video is just the fnaf movie and she’s lying about it being niche to throw us off the scent…. i MAY be on to you, Your Nastiness…

Holden S

Hi Jenny, don't know if you read the comments or not, but I'm a semester away from a Masters degree in history with colonial (specifically the Salem Witch Trials) history as my concentration. I am also an avid visitor to Salem -- just returned from a trip earlier this week. In 2020, I starting writing a visitors guide (similar to like all those visitors guides for Disneyworld) to help tourists navigate Salem even in its busiest times. If you ever decide to go back, I'd be happy to send a book your way to help with your trip. Flying Saucer is an amazing place. Love their life size Capt Picard figure.

Ron Martin

Wonderful Hag Grid. Happy to see Revolta getting the credit she deserves.

Cloak of Bisexual Invisibility

I read about this recently actually; the reason that Baba Yaga isn't constantly characterized in stories, is because it isn't THE Baba Yaga, but A Baba Yaga. There are a bunch of different Baba Yagas running around doing different stuff and they're maybe all sisters? That part was unclear to me lol

Goodnight Burrito

Bless you for the ramble, your nastiness. I love all of your videos and have thoroughly enjoyed learning about wacky topics through you. You’re the best out there, sorry there are so many goobers out there tryna get you down.

Lydia Chambers

I also loved the blasé scientist trope and calling out cringe in the Internet Horror ramble, which is one of the segments people got upset about. Which I don't think is a coincidence - the best bits are when Jenny is riffing on a hot take, and those are also the bits people are most likely to leave negative reactions about.

Ontario Traffic Man

I took a college course on Russian folklore once and I was absolutely sure that Baba Yaga was going to go in S tier. She has such a powerful, unique brand.

Keiko

Was really hoping to see Ashley from WarioWare, I think she's a great balance between classic and modern and just a fun character (in the extremely shallow way that all WarioWare characters are)

Alvaro Becker

Jenny, come to sleepy hollow NY next Halloween! It really comes to life all October

Leah Ableson

Jenny: “I’d sell my soul to the devil for a delicious slice of pizza.” Salem pizza parlor: “That’s our Tuesday special. It comes with a free Coke.”

Louis Z

I was surprised there was no mommy fortuna (the last unicorn) -- kinda niche but jenny being a horse girl I would assume she'd at least be familiar with such a unicorn-centric film. easily an S tier witch imo. she just owns it 100%.

Aiden

I remember Wendy the good little witch and did read the comics, but I am also fifty. ^^; Thank you so much for these rambles, I look forward to them every month.

Amanda Hall

I wanna shout out Meg Mucklebones from 1985's Legend. She's sort of half witch/half swamp monster but she's very scary and she has a lot of the witch trademarks and she calls the protagonist "juicy boy" Scared the hell out of me as a kid and the makeup/character design/performance are all so good. The clip is on YouTube and it's only a few minutes long. Definitely worth watching

Sam Shaw

Love the video, thank you for making it and sharing your creativity with us. And may all the stupid haters be shocked awake in bed, feeling very embarrassed about their weird comments for years to come! >:)

EndoGladry

Love you and your videos Jenny! Always excited for the end of the month!!

Meggy

With an apartment in the city

Kwasi Dennis

What on Earth could that next video be about that you're so worried about people's reactions?

jamezilla

the outro about how mean people are being to you really broke my heart. it's such a shame that the loudest ones are the people you have to see on the regular. my sister and i sit down to watch these patreon videos every single month together, and it's our favorite thing. we always talk about them afterwards and gush to our friends about how your patreon is the best investment we've ever made. thank you for putting out videos. if you ever have to step back, we completely understand. you are a household name in our little apartment. much love <3 happy halloween <3

Madigan Hunt

Isn't that a hat on a hat?

Larry Hastings

I've only ever heard one other opinion on Halloweentown(backed with clips and descriptions) and it's that it is TERRIBLE. The whole series AND the original movie.

jamezilla

I’d love to know where the Witch from Beastly would rank. She’s definitely very over the top for a witch presumably pretending to be a normal teenager.

Maerose Pepe

the next step down for halloweeny places i really think would be Burbank Ca and the SFV area in general - it’s not really walkable and the architecture is all socal suburbia (which i actually personally vibe with :)) but the year round halloweeny stores and coffee shops are fun and it’s hard to beat the burbank halloween decoration competition. (i’m just always trying to hype up the valley)

Maddy

I love the Stardust witches. Michelle Pfeiffer, like what? Very solid movie, pretty underrated IMO

George Hodulik

If I remember correctly, in the manga Jesse and James eventually get married.

jamezilla

Your evilness, if you need to take an evilcation for a while and spend time in your dark castle without posting, then that's what you need. Maybe it could also help to hire a stooge, a minion, or a henchperson to help you manage comments? Either way, this is YOUR dark realm to rule. Seriously, it's your space and your life, I hope you do whatever's necessary for you to feel comfortable. I think the rambles right now are above and beyond, they're so long and you usually seem to prepare for them quite a bit, they're quality videos and I love them. You'd be totally justified in making them shorter or less prepared if you need to cut down on stress, and of course it's always fair to take time off when you need it. I think the vast majority of people here enjoy your videos exactly the way they are and don't want you to feel like you have to tiptoe around so people don't get mad at you, that's impossible anyway once you've got a large enough audience. But the only opinions that matter are yours and the ones of people whose judgement you value. The rest of us are just the audience. So please, take whatever steps you think are right for you. Your nastiness.

Silky

I absolutely hate witches in puritan or historical European times, especially witch trials, it feels like justifying/glorifying the horrors perpetuated against innocent women of the time.

jamezilla

Tia Dalma turns out to be a goddess, so she's out anyway.

jamezilla

thank you, your revolting nastiness, for the ramble

amushroomtrip

Thank you for another great video, your Nastiness. My partner said, "She better include those Practical Magic witches!" I said, "Why, so they can go in the F tier because they follow modern beauty standards?" She begrudgingly agreed with me. Fingers crossed for November Tier Ranking fish!

Michael Tice

Watched the whole video. Loved it. Happy Halloween 🎃

Aaron Stear

"I guess if we want to be technical the witch in the movie is — no, spoilers, I won't say!" Too late, Jenny; you already gave it away. Clearly, the real witch is the friends we made along the way.

Tim Goodman

Definitely think willow and tara from buffy deserve a spot on this list. Buffy witches generally just feel like a much cleaner more complete version of vampire diaries witches, and (spoilers) witch magic as a metaphor for queerness is everything to me

Ryan stanley

Since I mentioned a witch movie with a trippy song in it, I'd also like to tell you about an old short film from around 1980 (I think). Winter of the Witch isn't very well known, but it's based on a nostalgic childhood picture book I loved called Old Black Witch. The plot of the book was that a boy called Nicky and his mother buy an old, run down house in New England, and the first time they try to light a fire in the fireplace, they wake a witch who's been sleeping in the chimney for over a 100 years. (That's why they call her Old Black Witch - she's sooty from the chimney, and she doesn't seem to have any other name.) The witch is horrified to discover that the house has new owners, and worse still, the boy's mother is planning to fix up the house and turn it into (gasp!) a charming tearoom (shudder). The mother allows the witch to stay and live in the attic, which the witch likes because it has cobwebs. However, she is unable to scare anybody away from the charming tearoom, so she starts helping in the kitchen, and her blueberry pancakes turn out to be wildly popular with the customers. (Recipe included in the book.) So, Winter of the Witch is based on that picture book and follows it pretty well, except in the film, the pancakes are magic as well as being really good. They have the power to make even the most unhappy people happy again, and they show this in such a trippy way that it made me think maybe the witch includes pot as an ingredient. (I'm sure it's magic for the child viewers, but still.) The witch finds a new sense of purpose in making people happy, realizing that modern life is too scary already and there's more need for something to make people happy than for someone to scare them. However, she's still a bad witch at heart, so the film ends with her concluding that, once she's made everybody happy, she's going to start scaring people again. It's a little different from the book, where it ends with her turning a couple of burglars into toads and keeping them as pets, presumably for the rest of their toad lives. I still like the short film ending, though, because it does show that the witch is still mildly wicked and also has long-term plans and life goals. If you're curious, Winter of the Witch sometimes appears on YouTube, and they definitely have it on Internet Archive.

Tracy Christenson

The necklace is so amazing too I kinda want the same one for my next Halloween

Elise

Nice list! I'm not sure if you've ever seen the old 1980s tv movie of The Worst Witch besides the series, but if you haven't, you should! It's wonderfully cheesy and includes some surprising big names. Years before The Craft, Fairuza Balk played Mildred Hubble, The Worst Witch. (It's quite an ironic contrast when you think about it.) Diana Rigg was the mean teacher, and Tim Curry was The Grand Wizard and sings a really trippy song about Halloween.

Tracy Christenson

omg u look so adorable as a witch!!!!! - also im sorry ppl are being hateful, your content is super chill and unproblematic I cannot comprehend it

Patricia Schlabendorff

Patreon Witch Jenny is an S tier witch, she even has a giant spider familiar

a.g.

My favorite witch is definitely the Bored Witch Camomille from the Triplets, I think she's delightful - she plays tricks without being evil (she's just very bored) and she looks like a proper witch with a little owl familiar.

Elise

would like to second this! just a normal ass boring adult who quietly enjoys the content and rarely comments. thank you for being a light in the darkness <3

Tati

I'm so sorry, your malevolence, that these people are being so awful. I'm running into it too and I know how it can feel, people were being awful to me online as far back as when I was a six year old little girl. Please do whatever you need to do first, okay? You *are* this channel, and you being okay is the most important thing by far. If you need to set boundaries, set boundaries, if you need to take a break please do that, if you need to stop entirely do that too, this is your space, not theirs, not ours, yours, and you should have control over it and what makes you feel welcome and happy being here. Like others have said please let us know if there's anything we can do to help. For what it's worth I'm really glad to be here and I'm really grateful to be able to hang out and listen to the things you find interesting, it's something I find so much comfort in after my own experiences with people like these aholes. But I and most others would prefer you be okay first and foremost. Thanks for everything you do, your insidiousness, and all the rest of you speaking up or hanging out resting, take good care of yourselves and each other ✌️❤️‍🩹

Aww she's surely A-tier 🥹

Jaz Mei Luo

Yes Yzma!! She’s my fave Disney character

Brigrace15

YES the hex girls!!

Brigrace15

JKR has made it very clear that the reason she really wants this series to happen is because she HATES the original main actors because they've been vocally pro-trans. Actually I'm not even sure Rupert has but since he's part of the main trio that's enough for her.

Narcissa Deville

wait the covenant is such great yaoi fodder….great for a Halloween fujoshi spooktacular

synthesis

Your Nastiness, I'm sorry the online harassment is getting to you. But if I may, most of your faithful viewers I imagine are just normal people who tune in to have a good time as a break from life. I was completely ignorant of any increase in harassment. So whatever you need to do, like disabling comments or even changing patreon rewards, to negate the harassers is probably going to be fine for the vast majority of viewers. It may be worth considering what steps you could take to make things sustainable for yourself without worrying too much about past promises. Those promises made sense for that time but maybe some recontracting is needed? Just my two slimy cents, Your Foulness. Also Pongwiffy is my S tier witch. From a children's book series in the UK.

Sophia Naz Ulhaq

I know moderator set ups on Reddit have their downsides, but I know lots of people in this community would love to filter comments and act as a point of contact for Her Putridness. I wish that this platform was able to work that way so the community could be self-regulating

An excellent video, oh Queen of Malevolence. Loved the Casper Tangent.

How do you feel about Yzma from Emperor's New Groove? She's got the style, and as I recall her supernatural stuff all comes from magic potions, plus she's always turning people into animals.

I’ve been a fan for almost a decade and I appreciate the consistently good content! I hope the negative comments don’t deter you 🙂

ducktales mentioned!! i think magica could’ve ranked pretty high on this list based on your criteria. i’ve only seen the 2017 reboot of DT but the aesthetic is super strong; she’s got green feathers and everything lol. shes also just such a fun character, catherine tate did a fantastic job voicing her. banger vid as always! happy halloween!! 👻🎃

Ciara ✦

They are, but they are being mean for the wrong reasons. Like that Harry's eyes are blue, or Hermione's actress is a person of color. Or just general "remake bad" energy. People need to specifically call them out for reusing so much of the visual identity of the original films.

Rhetoric Al Leigh

Your Nastiness, this was a wonderful video, I screamed when I saw the Gruntilda plushie in the background at the start, and was so glad she got a section.

Mary Kate Olsen in Beastly has got to be at least a B tier

Alexis

One witch I'd add to the A-tier if not S-tier is Granny Weatherwax from Terry Pratchett's Discworld. Or the whole Lancre Witch trio/quartet (depending on which book). Esme "Granny" Weatherwax, Gytha "Nanny" Ogg, and Magrat Garlick (later Agnes "Perdita" Nitt) get up to protecting the kingdom through witchery and an overabundance of common sense. If Her Malcontentedness or anyone in the comments were to read (or watch, there's an animated movie) Wyrd Sisters, they'd have a good time. The Scarlett Witch/Raven ranking is very fair. I think in comicsdom there are people who just Are Magic but aren't proper witches or wizards or whatnot. I wish people didn't feel the need to be dicks to Jenny for attention, but the world is rarely what I want it to be. I look forward to the Bad Movie Video, whichever movie it is, whatever context I get to see it in.

Dan Gibbins

Omg I love Eva Ibbotson and was also vaguely hoping Which Witch would pop up, although I hardly know anyone who's read it. So many good witches in there though, like the one who kills all her husbands?? A tier at least

Audrey Piacsek

I agree I have really loved the last few rambles! I think it's because Jenny seems to be really interested in the topic and enjoying talking about it, researching it, etc. You get so many good tangents when someone is talking about something they genuinely enjoy

Audrey Piacsek

I was going to be sad that you didn't have the Brave witch whose thing is all bears because she's so classically witchy and she has kind of a thing (bears). But I also think you did plenty of Disney witches and she's pretty derivative of the classic Evil Queen witch so I will forgive not including her. But she would be A tier

Audrey Piacsek

Hey-- I don't think I've ever commented on your patreon. But I'm like a 38 year old mom and teacher who is also queer in the south so it's not the best time. And I really appreciate how often you post content here. It's genuinely nice to just have a pleasant no drama voice talk about nostalgia stuff in a fun way. I know you don't have to be told this, but the people harassing you are bizarre. And I just feel like it's worth speaking up that you probably just have a bunch of fans who are just normal ass adults who just quietly appreciate you.

Jo Quigley

are people not being mean about the harry potter remake? maybe it's because i'm online in very queer spaces, but I haven't seen a single positive remark about it

August

55:20 (I missed that detail, thanks for pointing it out)

Ontario Traffic Man

True Genius!!!!!

Eddy

Your Foul Putrescence, what a delightful list and great takes! If I may, I wish the now Nintendo character Bayonetta had been included, although she is a bit silly and very much in the modernized category, albeit classical for her demonic pact. Regardless, this was fun, looking forward to the video!

Mathieu B. Lafrenière

I was waiting for Practical Magic! Very boho witches for the Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman characters, but their aunts have a real "Debbie Reynolds from Halloweentown" vibe. They do real magic and embrace some of the stereotypes (like brooms). One of my fave fall movie watches 🍂

Elyse

Omg get out of my head. Blaire Witch was my first thought

Guy Dineen

Witch Hat Atelier is one of my favorite manga series. The rival witch factions are divided between those with hat brims and those without. (The fashion in that series is unbelievably good, and it's only like the 10th best thing about it.) Highly recommend for fans of Owl House. It has a great magic system and stunningly magical atmosphere. It has a lot of themes about disability, class and how adults can respond to kids' needs (mostly as teachers and students but also just generally).

Magistrissa

Is it just me or does anyone else love when Jenny goes on a rant about something random? Feels like a conversation

Alli

And Yubaba! But I think Her Nastiness maybe didn't want to rank them lower for not fitting into a mold shaped by different witch traditions

BirdsWatchOverUs

I always can appreciate an internet friendly numbered list

Alli

The way you were talking about the town of Hocus Pocus at the beginning had me believing you never went to Salem Mass, which was so shocking to me. Which is silly to admit but still. 😭

kodieshmodie

I’m sorry that internet harassment has been making this un-fun for you recently. You’re my favorite online creator and seem like a very nice person! I hope things get better for you ❤️‍🩹

~Ash~

This is such a wonderful video!! And omg I literally yelped when you said the witch from into the woods - I was lucky enough to play her in a production of ITW last year and it really was the best time of my life, she is SUCH an incredible character and absolutely the most fun in the show. Happy Halloween Jenny!! (And other patrons!!)

stella and zoe

Yo Nastiness, you didn't include my favorite witches of all time, Cassie (and her dime cousin) from The Good Witch. They're easily A tier witches and their town is an autumnal classic

Jawn d'Arc

As a kid I absolutely adored the Winnie the Witch picture books. She's an icon. If you're that concerned about the preview for the Bad Movie video, I wouldn't mind not getting a preview. Maybe you could do a poll asking people if they would take something else, like a bonus ramble, or something after the video is out? I know that would be more work for you, but if doing something else would save that stress?

Kit of the Weird Woods

Great list! I think the only character I can think to add is Eda the Owl Lady from The Owl House. The whole series' aesthetic fits the witch vibes Jenny is talking about pretty well, and a lot of characters could probably rank pretty high on the list, but I feel like Eda is definitely the most witch like per Jenny's criteria. I don't think she ever wears a pointy hat, but her overall design is very sharp and pointy (she has the long fingernails), she does a lot of witchy things like ride around on a broom and live in a weird house and make potions, and she's got a personality that, while good overall, is pretty mischievous in what I see as a very witchy way. I also think she's got a cool color scheme that both fits the witch vibes, while being different than a lot of other witches I've seen, so she's bringing something new to the table. I'd put her in A tier at least.

Rosie

1:08:17 "She's a cooking enthusiast, which is classic witch, though in her case she likes to cook children" Your Nastiness, how dare you be so judgemental about people's diets!

Ontario Traffic Man

Oh, also there's a Baba Yaga's House art installation that may or may not still be on display at Fly Ranch in Northern Nevada, I know the artist and did some welding on the feet. Guests can climb stairs and go inside. There's numerous pics online and it's very whimsical

Ted Koutz

If you need to take a break due to the negativity I don't blame you at all. I hate that people can't just be normal when they hear something they don't like. That said, you're my favorite creator on here and I appreciate how much time and effort you put into these videos! These last three rambles have been especially fun.

Dr. Chunk

I love your videos! Wishing you well! 🫶🏻

Maddie Arnautov

Yes, Your Nastiness.

e6n.

Deep into 2020 lockdown my friends and I did zoom movie nights and The Covenant was the one that inspired us to start writing fan fiction about one another

Austin P. Smith

Wonderful video your nastiness! although I kept waiting in vain for Angelica Huston from Nicolas Roeg's 1990 film "The Witches" to show up. Am I alone in this film having a huge impact on their childhood? none more quintessential witch exists.

Patrick Canning

Great video as always, your perniciousness. A couple I think are worth considering are Kiki from Kiki's delivery service (she has the classic outfit + cat and flies on a broom which is cute, but doesn't seem to have other magic and is not creepy looking so maybe B or C tier) and Morgan le Fay from Arthurian legends (she's pre wizard of oz so she doesn't have the witch look, but she's kind of the blueprint for the evil magic sorceress trope so I would hazard a B tier)

Euphrasie Cullen

Don’t worry, the W.I.T.C.H. girls aren’t actually witches! It’s just their initials. They’re more like Sailor Moon but with fairy outfits and wings. /just at 6:39. I did wonder if the name would get them in anyway; now I’m not in suspense.

The Raven and the Swan

Your Vileness, did you read Which Witch? by Eva Ibbotson as a kid? I loved it, and it seems like it might be your type of thing.

Owl

Wait what about the witch from Beastly where does she rank the people need to know

Marina Nania

I feel like the obvious reason for the new HP remakes is money, and I personally am not looking forward to people giving more money to a franchise that supports a billionaire who is actively working to strip rights from trans people.

Victoria

Eric

Seconding this! Could also be helpful for simple editing tasks like blurring faces, reviewing footage for continuity errors, editing out copyrighted music, etc. without giving away creative control. I’ve worked for public figures and I’m still astounded by the cruel comments people will make. Multiple ppl will turn post notifs on just so they can say something vile 30 seconds after they post a photo. It’s a miserable existence! There is nothing to be gained by reading them, except for the absorption of misery via osmosis. An assistant would be able to compile a list of genuine comments or toplines and/or let you know if there’s something legitimately worth addressing (and not just cruelty for the sake of it). This is the standard for most public figures, even for folks with a quarter of the internet fame as Jenny. It’s never healthy to absorb misery, even if from a disingenuous anon…

katieeatsrocks

My wife is a big fan of Baba Yaga so she was quite upset that she only got placed in C tier. She's very folklore dependent because of how old the character is, but all the folklore is fucking sick!

Max Pitroff

I had to watch this on my phone, my cat was going crazy trying to catch Pump on the tv. Mind you, there are 3 ghost plushies in my living room as we speak. The grass really is always greener i guess.

Marina Nania

I'm sorry, people suck. You are my first and favorite Patreon!

Lily B

Hi Jenny! It makes me so sad to hear that there has been an uptick in negativity and meanness here on Patreon. I subscribed to your Patreon because you’re one of my favorites content creators and I really value the things you have to say and your insight and brand of humor. If you ever need to take a break for your mental health PLEASE do not hesitate to do so. We will all still be here❤️

Mystic Water90

if you haven't seen it before, i'd recommend checking out the tv miniseries adaptation of wyrd sisters for some more witchy stuff

RainbowBatsuit

I feel like the witch character from the Bugs Bunny cartoons is also pretty iconic.

Mike Metzler

On my 2nd visit I actually was there at the very beginning of October (was in town for a wedding). Even just at the start of the Halloween season it was crazy to find parking, hour wait for any restaurant, and short lines to enter any shops. It was cool to see people out in the street with a festival vibe and we had a fun day but definitely not different enough to justify the increased crowds!

Jenny Nicholson

Yea, downtown Salem becomes super crowded and over-touristed in October. It honestly kinda sucks for locals, because it makes it impossible to do anything that involves having to pass through---or god forbid, go to---the downtown area. But for 11 months of the year, Salem is great. If you ever want to visit again, you should definitely avoid October.

Dan Silvia

Yes I forgot about mirta! Didn't she spend like a year as a pumpkin

Jenny Nicholson

Sorry to hear you get such negative feedback. Thanks for the great video.

Tali

These last three rambles -- internet horror, vintage commercials, and this one -- have felt particularly inspired (despite your quite sympathetic frustrations with the portion of your audience who seems intent on dulling your enthusiasm). There's been a chunk of each -- in this video it was where you really went in on the Wendy and Casper flick, in the last one it was your reaction to the 'Sweet Pickles Bus' commercial -- where you went off on a riff that actually found me laughing out loud, actively thinking that the small amount of money I contribute monthly is beyond well spent. I figure that, given the message included at the end of this ramble, there's no harm in putting this on the record. Frankly, I give to other Patreons where the associated creators don't even provide monthly perks, and think nothing of it because I believe in their work. I would do that with you as well. You spoil us, if anything. Alas, the internet can be a terrible, awful place, but your many fans are not going anywhere, I'm certain, were you to need to take a break. As for neglected witches, I would return to 'Bewitched' and specifically single out Samantha's mother, Endora, as portrayed by the legendary Agnes Moorehead. For me, it's one of the great performances in all of American sitcoms, and she is truly an S Tier, A+, five star pop culture witch.

Matt Quigley

I know how the real word is pronounced but the character's name is spelled Macawber!

Jenny Nicholson

I was waiting for her to be the closing witch! It's okay though, Jenny (your Nastiness), the list is already perfect, so we can just assume the Beastly witch is in her own unspoken solo tier.

Trina Mercado

Excellent video, Your Vileness!

Bi Zuko

Neewollah is in Independence, Kansas, about an hour from where I grew up! Never expected anyone to know about it lol. The town is not very Halloween-y outside of that festival. I would go with the highschool band to play in the parade and do marching band. It was the best marching band competition in the area, they actually got some big schools to come in with really impressive shows, was always the highlight for me. Didn't get to see much of the rest cause had to stay with the school, but it was a nice festival!

MaxMin

Thank you for putting Madam Mim in the top ranking Your Nastyness. I agree. My favorite part about her is that she goes out of her way to explicitly show you that she COULD be sexy and hot if she wanted to be but she just straight up CHOOSES to look the way she does because she enjoys being an ugly old witch in a cottage. To me this is the best witchy thing about her. She isn’t doing witch spells to change herself or be young or beautiful- she’s in it for the love of the game and that is amazing to me.

Natalie Stromberg

In addition to echoing other's messages of support to Jenny and her mental health, here's a numbered list outlining my (selfish) position as a viewer & Patron. 1) Dependence on YouTube: The stated intent of the Patreon has always been to enable more videos, and most importantly, to eliminate Jenny's financial dependence on YouTube views/monetization/algorithm. Which should be a massive benefit to the quality of videos, since Jenny could just make videos about whatever she feels passionate about, regardless of whether it would attract a mainstream audience and regardless of whether it contains unpopular opinions. 2) Dependence on Patreon: The Patreon is clearly large enough to provide financial independence from YouTube, but now it's so large that it feels like the primary product, which is a problem since most of the video topics are picked by the public rather than a spark of passion. The Patreon's size also inevitably means that there will be negative or idiotic comments on anything even remotely controversial, putting us back where we started by discouraging Jenny from covering topics that might be controversial or opinions that might be unpopular. 3) Negative comments: As a viewer I wish Jenny could just ignore the negative comments and be comfortable with the fact that less sanitized videos will receive more negative reactions. Because less sanitized videos are also more appreciated by the vast majority of us. But I recognize that the human brain inevitably fixates on the stupid or negative comments so that's much easier said than done. 4) Why I'm a Patron: I subscribed to Jenny's YouTube channel due to her sharp wit, but some of the humour I enjoy will inevitably make some people upset since it's making fun of something that they might like. I subscribed to the Patreon since I wanted to support my favourite creators, but that gives the false impression that I value the Patreon videos higher than the YouTube ones.

Ontario Traffic Man

Love the Salem shoutouts!! I live right by there, and flying saucer is absolutely amazing!! And it’s a great spot to visit!!!! Agreed that any time but October is best if you don’t want huge crowds- but October is lots of fun haha!!

Liz Possee Corthell

My favorite witches on this list are the Trix but I agree that by Jenny's standards they deserve their ranking. I have a disease where I can't listen to people (even people whose content I like/opinions I respect) talk about My Favorite Things so if Jenny ever made a winx club video I would respectfully not watch it. But I do agree with what she said here. I think Adelaide and Granny Whispers from OTGW would be A-tier witches, they have a lot of good hut-living weird old woman stuff going on.

Jana

im so shocked and heartbroken people have been nasty and weird about your videos. i second the other comments on here saying that a lot of people who really enjoy your videos are so busy enjoying them that we don’t comment. especially on the patreon, it’s amazing to have edited, fun, new videos every month!! i always love them no matter the topic and i rewatch them regularly. i genuinely think you always have such interesting and hilarious things to say no matter the subject. that said, i think i speak for a lot of fans when i say i would completely understand if you took time off or even stopped posting altogether to prioritize your mental health. take care!

cilantro

My witch movie recommendation is Häxan. It has some great classic witches. (and it's on YouTube in its entirety) Also Bibi Blocksberg is one of the most nostalgic witches for me. She's a german childhood classic.

Amanda Halbrock

I love watching your halloweeny videos every year!! I know some comments are bad and uncomfortable and weird, but I really appreciate your videos and hope you feel ok taking your time, releasing stuff how you want, and not putting too much pressure on yourself < 3

Bridget Schiffler

I've been a bad car since 2019 but was watching your videos on YouTube since 2017. I rarely comment, but I love your content and look forward to it every month, your nastiness!

Rae Leo

Your patreon is my fav thing I'm subbed to. Sorry people are being buttheads.

Dee Juniper

Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg, and Magrat Garlick, from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. If you haven't read any Discworld, I envy you for getting to read it for the first time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witches_(Discworld)

Dylan Swain

Regarding the preview of the bad movie video, I feel like if the preview comes out a week before the final video that isn't enough time for someone to scoop the topic anyway. Disabling comments on the preview also keeps Jenny from seeing the inevitable stupid comments that will misinterpret the incomplete video.

Ontario Traffic Man

Exactly. Furthermore, when a video is less sanitized (like a lot of the early Jenny vids) it will inevitably get more negative feedback from people who disagree. But it will also be much more appreciated by the people who didn't get offended by the media opinions (which is the vast majority of people). But like you said, the nature of the human brain is to fixate on the increased negative feedback and shy away from just sharing interests and opinions, ignoring the overwhelming support that those videos also receive.

Ontario Traffic Man

I believe Gruntila is a direct parody of The Wicked Witch of the West. She takes very clear inspirations from her, including having a "nice" sister similar to Glinda.

Will V

Urgh that bums me out if you've had more negativity thrown your way recently 😕 Just a passing thought - I wonder if you might benefit in hiring a part time assistant or something like that. I used to work for a youtuber in that capacity, and one of the things I did was read through the comments. I'd summarize any pertinent information (+ make sure she saw the particularly touching comments!), but that way she had me as a filter and she didnt have to deal with some of the weirdos as directly. I would be sad if you took a Patreon break as I always look forward to seeing you in my feed, but if you can swing it financially and if it would do you good, then definitely take a break!!

Delphine

I think one thing you might appreciate about Baba Yaga is that she rides on a butter churn. Like instead of a broom. And it goes thump thump thump as she hops around on the butter churn.

Hobbes the Tiger

Sad bednobs and brooksticks wasn't here. The disney movie about kids going to live with a witch. And Morgana was such a classic witch, spellbooks and her best friends are spiders and bats. Easy A tier. Regardless, still a great video.

Larry Bewarey

I never comment but have loved your videos for many years now. I am so sorry people are rude to the extended you would pause. Obviously do what ever is best for you but just want to let you know a lot of us silent patrons absolutely adore each new video.

Dylan

I'm so sorry people are rude about your videos! just wanted to say your videos are always so fun, so high quality, and a delight to watch. your content is my favorite because you bring so much to the table with thoughtful ideas and funny takes. if it brings you peace of mind, definitely turn off the comments (i'd rather that happen than have you leave the internet completely!), but do what you have to do for yourself and your sanity. it's wild someone can bring so much hate to a fun review of children's movies :(

Fulty

“People aren’t being mean enough about the Harry Potter remake” exactly exactly

IHateBerwald

there is a way to do so on the creator's side of patreon but that does unfortunately still involve seeing & engaging with said negative behavior

val gecko

Genuinely cannot believe you didn't include Mary-Kate Olson from Beastly

Jimini

I was waiting for Kiki's Delivery Service, but fun list.

Molly

I don't think I have commented before but I use your videos as like, a "feel good" playlist because your vibes are so immaculate and good and every vid has been worth waiting on 100%. Take your time making them! They are really good!!

Alis

I just want to say that I love your videos!

Wool

A funny thing about The Covenant is how four of the five main boys went on to pretty hefty careers and the fifth... didn't. Steven Strait (The Expanse) Sebastian Stan (MCU) Taylor Kitsch (a bunch of stuff) Chace Crawford (The Boys) and then Toby Hemingway who went on to star in a whole lot of nothing.

Jacob Crowe

Great video Your Nastyness

Rudy Gardea

I've been a patron of yours for over seven years now, and I rarely comment (I'm a lurker by nature) but I wanted to say something now since you made remarks about the negative people. I've been a "bad car" since 2018 when I first discovered your videos, I vote in every poll and I get so excited with every monthly ramble release, setting aside tine to watch on release date and usually again the next month. I've been a huge fan of yours for several years, both main channel and patreon videos, and very often rewatch videos from the back log. Im so sorry you've been getting haters who just want to spread negativity, and I feel sorry for them that they have no joy in their lives and feel they need to bother you. I just want you to know you are very loved by your fans, including me! All that being said, if you do need to take breaks for your mental health, that's whats most important and I will happily continue to support you whatever you choose. Lots of love and I hope you had a very happy halloween!

Jane McIntyre

Definitely one of your best rambles! The Casper's uncles tangent was perfect. Unfortunately, you did leave out the greatest witch of all time, who turned Matthew McConaughey into a plastic spider and ended racism forever (these things were mutually exclusive, Mr. McConaughey becoming a spider did not end racism, his agent has been very clear on that).

Captain Langosta AKA The Yellow Dart AKA Kyle

Oh, Jenny, I am so sad that selfish and irrational people are making you feel that you should diminish what you contribute to the world. Also, if you must take time for yourself to reassess how you engage the world, you absolutely should. I run an art org called Sumballo Art, and one of the things we discuss and attempt to remedy among artists of today is access— access to all of human knowledge ever and also access from the entire world at all times. It’s exhausting; and not right. So I do hope you find a protocol which helps you freely create and contribute. My husband and I experience a great deal of comfort from your videos. As ND artists working in media & entertainment, who are also currently navigating some major life transitions, your videos have been quite helpful. Thank you for sharing with all of us your perspective. Also, I’m curious what your thoughts are on Yzma and Hazel. I think they are both S tier witches. Yzma isn’t a "European" sort of witch, but all of her design as a character is a solid witch of the culture from which she originates. And Hazel is the most hilarious and well-designed classic European witch, I think. Maybe my favorite character design of a witch in animation. Anyway, we wish you well, from Paris! 💛💛🍪🍪 (Cookies because they’re comforting… hopefully)

Tayen

Such a wonderful and funny video!! I feel like you’ve been on SUCH a roll with iconic videos this year, and I’m sorry the hate’s been so loud :( For what it’s worth, your patreon is one of the highlights of my month!!!

Siena Brown

Well your Nastiness, I’ve never commented before but I feel the need to say just how much I enjoy your work. Hopefully you’re seeing all the positivity in the comments here. I was loving the new ramble until I saw the message about the negativity you’ve been receiving. WTF is wrong with people? I know it’s easy for me to say don’t let the bastards grind you down but I’m not the one having to put up with that crap & I’m not sure I could take it. Please look after yourself & do what you need to do to stay healthy, I’d bet the vast majority of your viewers feel the same & will happily wait until you’re ready to come back. Live deliciously.

Martin Hobson

Jenny: But instead of the boho aesthetic… Me, thinking: Oh yeah like the witches from The Craft, how would I describe those? Jenny: The best way to describe it is “The Craft” witch. Well I guess that settles that.

Kevin Morris

YeS, yOuR nAStInEsS... *Cowers, respectfully. Also, fearfully.*

Christopher Hayward

Also, I agree in re Wanda - I mean, she's an S-tier mutant (or however they rank them) in the comics, so when she does "spells" it's more like she's manipulating reality through her mutation, and that's not a witch-witch.

Vee Thorn

Magnificent video! Love Jenny showing off her magical abilities right out of the gate by teleporting the witch hat from yoshi to pump! Its horrible that some internet creeps target you with negativity and you have to second guess yourself because of others behavior. Fwiw, your patreon videos are consistently high quality and could easily be on the main channel. I definitely prefer them to anything on streaming. I'm sure most of us appreciate all the thought, time, and energy you put into them! Do whatever makes you happy! 🎶🎤 "I hope you don't mind that I put down in words~ how wonder life is with your sliminess in the world~"🎶

David Bleek

I FORGOT ABOUT CASPER'S UNCLES. yikes. Favorite witches are all of Terry Pratchett's, they are so tied into nature and lore and Tiffany Aching makes me cry.

Vee Thorn

I feel like Adelaide of the Pasture from Over the Garden Wall would be S tier, or at least A

MrTophatter

I love Morgana from Darkwing Duck but I respect your decision. Extremely fun to hear your thoughts as always!

Marsyas

I've seen at least 2 comments here hoping for Bayonetta and I hate to break it to you but 100% no-one outside of the game's existing fandom are aware that that character is a witch.

Sideshow Bob Stepping On Rakes

For real!? Enjoy the content or don't watch it but don't be a jerk.

Ben Henry

your pronunciation of macabre is wild. (not in a mean way, it's just kinda funny!)

bluewolfie

As an early teen I was having a sleepover and we asked my dad to go rent us The Covenant and he came back with Something Else (I could have sworn it had the same name but google searches are coming up blank) and we tried to watch it but were like wait where's the hot boys

Natalie

Thank you as always for the ramble, Jenny!! I just wanted to be yet another voice here saying how much I love and appreciate your work and that I would much, much rather you took time away to look after yourself if that's what you need to do. I really hope the project continues to come together and I know previews are listed as a Patreon perk but I personally wouldn't mind at all if you didn't reveal anything ahead of time, particularly in cases like this which are more sensitive and likely to cause issues for you.

Alice Parkin

In Winx club, wasn't there also a witch that goes on to join Alfia instead and becomes a fairy? Mirta, I think. Winx is very loose with its classifications, I think xD Anyway, thanks for another excellent video, your nastiness!

Roxanne Giling

Who's being mean to Jenny 😡

Natalie

I wonder if there's a possibility as a content creator to just cancel someone's subscription to you from your end if they're excessively negative or stressing you out. Otherwise it's like theyre paying for a Premium Harassment Service where they get to talk to you with no possibility for you to block or ban them.

Trystan

What about Sir Terry's Witches?

Jason Hall

Jenny, can I just say in every video whether it's a Patreon ramble or a main channel video, your makeup always looks amazing. Mad jealous of your skills.

Kayla

Baba yaga shows up as a character in a ton of stuff. It makes me sad to think John wick is her "definitive" anything other than what people know the name from. 😞

MyNameIsGrundle

Oh hey funny coincidence, I just saw an old pin from the 1950s referring to Anoka, Minnesota as the "Halloween Capital of the World", apparently they started a Halloween parade tradition in the 1920s and they still go all out! Not quite Halloweentown but there is apparently a Big Metal Pumpkin and a bunch of events and stuff.

David

Did I miss it get mentioned or did the Road Dahl book/movie "the witches" get snubbed? Love that Madame Mim got s tier but Jafar is distinctly a sorcerer, which got called out at the start as being not a witch. (And yes boys can be witches) Scarlett witch is 100% a which in name only but Agatha and company are full on witches and should have been on the list instead of Wanda. Loved the "duh of course" nature of putting Macbeth witches in S tier at the end. P.S. missed witch: Bullet witch!

MyNameIsGrundle

Great video as always Jenny! Curious to know where the witch from Beastly would rank??

Ciara C

cuts deep that you hate casper's uncles (not really, im already over it), they were an obsession of my childhood, mainly because i loved characters that had brooklyn accents for reasons i still do not know/understand. Happy Halloween, your Nastiness!

Scarlett

IMO Yubaba from Spirited Away is an A tier witch. Pros: creepy old ugly lady, old timey dress, curses people, traps children (very classic fairy tale coded), turns into a bird, has an animal familiar, scrying. Cons: Doesn't match Jenny's definition of a witch look, not enough magical accoutrements (eg cauldrons, wands etc).

veronica

For a long time Casper Meets Wendy was the only Casper movie I had seen, so I was very confused about people being attracted to Casper. And most people don’t know Wendy, I thought I had dreamed it.

LW

Came for the witch ranking. Stayed for the roasting of Casper's shitty uncles

Michael Beckwith

Was hoping to see Bayonetta somehow sneak in here to hear your thoughts on her take of a modern witch!

Steven M

I haven't seen them as a childhood Roald Dahl hater. Part of my low gross-out threshold lol I feel like every work I dipped my toes in by him had farts and eating boogers and guys with old food stuck in their beard

Jenny Nicholson

Another great video, your nastiness!

jonikari

Sometimes I feel like Hollywood writers, especially in the 90s, didn't have any friends? "Oh we need to make it clear that these two child characters care about each other so much they would do [insert climactic moment of the film]. And no one cares about people like that aside from parents with their kids and romantic partners." Like, guys. Kids have friends. I think children would find a very lonely little boy ghost making a friend a lot more relatable and compelling than a weirdly sexual little boy ghost trying to make the moves on a live girl, actually. Anyways, I also have always hated that movie LOL

Mady, you know, from TV

Your Nastiness, regarding the bad replies here Jenny it's simply because of your success. Any community big enough will get a tiny percentage of bad actors, and your human brain is wired to ignore the overwhelming support and adoration you get and hyperfocus on a tiny minority of bad meaningless people. I just recommend that you remember that this feeling of getting attacked is a trick of the mind. People adore you and adore what you do.

Garga Lenoir

UPDATE: Watched the original Casper film at a Halloween gathering. Was much worse than I remember. They made Casper such a sexual being. At one point you see his bedroom and it looks like it's a nursery for a 5 year old, and at the end as a human he's like 13?? Something is up with that guy

Jenny Nicholson

I’m so happy that Jenny has seen the Covenant. The two things that I remember loving the most about it was how Sebastian Stan and the main character had this delicious homoerotic rivalry, and the main guy had this recurring thing where he’d get nightmares and wake up shirtless drenched in sweat. It was supposed to be sexy but I mean he would be DRENCHED in sweat, like he’d just stepped out of the shower, it made me laugh every time

Dane Roberts

Fun video, your wretched Awfulness. 🙇‍♂️🙇‍♂️🙇‍♂️

Keith Jacobsen

I know Jenny is a Ghoul School-head, but I was a Scooby Doo and the Witch's Ghost kid. I can recite half the movie. The Witch's ghost (Sarah) is B tier for me because she was kind of bad at being a witch but I think Jenny would rank her higher for the pilgrim era connection. The male witch descendant is C Tier, he doesn't have the look, he's bad at it, it's embarrassing, but he is still technically a witch. HOWEVER, Fern from the Hex Girls is S Tier (for me) because she has the look, she has the ability, and she calls herself and "eco-goth", which truly feels like the most 90s title for a witch possible.

Mady, you know, from TV

I so need a ranking for Wen Weaver, the Hair Trigger Fire Witch

Boris

Jenny, I'm not kidding, I looked away for a second and when I looked back it was when the ghost was fading in over your shoulder and it scared the bejesus out of me

Eric MacMillan

Looked up caspers uncles to remind myself and it's crazy how they're just carbon copies of the Scooby doo boo brothers!

Tilly Potter

I'm not a $5 supporter so my opinion might not be super relevant, but... primarily people want to support you so you can keep making videos, right? So if there's something you want to do to keep yourself from burning out, that is not just in your own interest, it is also in the interest of everyone on here & kind of outweighs other stuff, even in a completely cynical world where patrons are only in it for the perks and don't care about your wellbeing (which I don't think is the case! But y'know). I love your work and hope you can find good ways to deal with your stressors <3 Edit: Completely forgot my offering of witches! There are the Crones in The Witcher 3 which are as the name suggests more of the old weird women variety, their designs are based on the ways that witches were killed (drowned, hanged and burned alive). They do potions and magic and I think if you liked the Blair Witch you might like them too. There is a also hag in Baldur's Gate 3(called Auntie Ethel), not sure if she would count! But she does all the classic witch stuff of giving people shitty deals in exchange for her magic and brewing potions and stuff, very nasty in a fun way. She also leaves poisoned apples out to trick unwary adventurers with, which I love! Though her design is just old woman/strange forest creature.

Nurgleth

I think, technically, the definitive Baba Yaga movie is John Wick. Halfway through typing that, I remembered that there actually is a 1970s witch a movie called Baba Yaga, but it's very Italian and has about as much to do with the original legend as John Wick does.

Steven Clark

Happy Hallowe'en! Adding to the chorus saying to do whatever you need to to keep yourself healthy, and also I'm very excited for the movie reveal!!! Also that Fazzbear hat is amazing, I watched this with a plush pumpkin I got from Costco this year and I need to see if my big head means that he too can wear my hats like your Pump!

David

First time commenter here (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧ Do what you need to feel better Jenny pleeease, and do so with the knowledge that the big majority of patrons and suscribers have your back (and also wouldn't even fathom the possibility of harrasing others or picking on you for your videos)! And althougt it has probably been said sooo many times before, it is particularly lovely seeing a woman so many of us can identify with creating fun and insightful videos and make a well deserved living out of it. Just going through the Patreon catalogue feels like a premium experience (the outfits and set ups are all so enchanting, every single time), and smaller, "less effort" videos are just as charming as those original, short reviews on the main channel. Take it easy, please ʕ´•ᴥ•`ʔ ♡ Lots of love from Spain, Halloween videos are just the best!

BLaaan

I'm from Salem and loved the Flying Saucer shoutout. The owners have a restaurant connected to it called Gulu Gulu which I'd also recommend, they do different themed nights like bingo and live music pretty much every night it's quite the vibe

Sara Nicole

suprised no 'the witches' from 1990 w/ anjelica huston, maybe it didnt get around as much in the US. and i think there was a recent remake too. sorry if you did mention it and i missed it.

Rock Steady

Idrk much about the stress of being an internet personality, but I will say that when I signed up for your patreon, I expected, like, a twenty minute monthly video with no editing and would have been very happy with that. Getting monthly videos that are regularly upwards of an hour was a huge and pleasant surprise, and I am very impressed with the quality and output of your work on them. I realize your standards for yourself are higher since the quality of your main channel vids has skyrocketed, and I love that stuff and am thrilled to support you making it, but I hope you're proud of how consistent you are with this. Hope you have a good Halloween, and hope this wasn't weird to say.

Emil

I think censoring that much info would be way too much work for her tbh. At that point may be best to not post a preview?

Maria Gomez

Agreed! I love Paranorman and so does my mum but yeah it’s more of a ghost story wrapped as a witch story for plot reasons

Maria Gomez

We love and appreciate your work Jenny 🫶🫶🫶🫶 you always make me smile and laugh with how thoughtful and accurate your observations are, regardless of the subject at hand. I’m so sorry about everyone who’s ever harassed you online or sent people to harass creators of things you talk about. Truly strange and horrendous stuff. Thank you for being YOU!!!!!!

a sunny book nook

Yeah I had no idea about people being weird at you but your videos are always a joy and I hope to see more from you. I think Baba Yaga is very hard to rank because she's more real world folklore than a character and I don't particularly like her hellboy depictions but yeah.

George Squares

Had to wait until 30 seconds til the end to see your killer Freddy hat?!?! AH! Evil queen of closet/hand-crafted cosplays. I'm so delighted to see Madam Mim in S tier!! I was thinking about her from the start and ruminating on whether or not she counted, but you counted her! I think your take is right on Scary Godmother, lol. Might not come as a surprise that it was adapting comics that had much more time to flesh out lore and backstory. That said, I feel like the movie tried its best, so I have a soft spot for it, flaws and all. (And, though the CG doesn't hold up for sure, they were trying some crazy revolutionary stuff for the time with the "stretch" rigs and attempts at hair dynamics etc.) On the serious-er note, if you asked me, I'd say I don't find previews personally important; I usually prefer to wait and see your whole piece anyway. I think if keeping the film private for this video is important to you, you do what you think is best for everyone's ultimate enjoyment, including yours. I don't understand where the complaining COMES from, honestly. I'm here because I want to support allowing an artist (you) to make what you want on your terms (and in your own timeframe as well. Art takes a dang long time sometimes, and I'm here to help support that necessity too, mental breaks included as part of the process.) We're Patrons of an artist, not Commissioners of our List of Demands, and I really don't get where this sense of entitlement (and especially if it's deliberate malice! what the heck) comes from. Anyway, take care of yourself. I can't imagine the pressures that mount as online popularity grows, but I hope typing out my support can help buffer the buffoonery. Happy Halloweeeeen!

Amy Cooper

PROTECT. YOUR. MENTAL. HEALTH. Perfectly fine for you to go hermiting, Your Nastiness.

shamaamamamamaah

I would have sworn I'd never seen an episode of My Little Pony in my life, and then you showed those witches and the entirety of the song "I'll Do The Dirty Work" played in my mind.

Tori, Writher #1 Fan

Another content creator I watch was just talking about how people should let their favorite creators know that they love their content because the hate can be so loud sometimes. I think it’s so easy for us to take content creation, particularly the incredibly in-depth videos you create, for granted. So this is me as a first time commenter just letting you know that I love your work, and I subscribe to this patreon not only for the extra content, but also because I truly want to support your efforts! Protect your peace and do what feels right to you. I, along with many other reasonable people here, will totally support your decision!

Clay Thornton

as a big fan of narnia i can't even dispute the F ranking for jadis...technically she isn't even a witch she's actually an empress and a sorceress and she has giant blood or something. the witch thing was literally in title only and she didn't even call herself that. i will stand behind you on this one. you speak truth.

zanna

Willow from Buffy - C Tier Amy’s Mom from Buffy - A Tier The Witches from The Witches - F tier because I hate that movie! Not because of the transformation but for the part when one witch accidentally turns into a mouse and when she goes to the main witch to warn her she just kills her not even knowing who it is. That really messed me up as a kid and I hated recounting here. That Looney Tunes Witch- S tier

David A Behlman

My favourite witch is definitely Hazel from the 1952 Disney short film "Trick or Treat". I think she is just the quintessential witch and the short film is essential Halloween season viewing.

JENNY I’VE BEEN SO CAUGHT UP IN HALLOWEEN STUFF THAT I FORGOT ABOUT PATREON VID WAS COMING AND I JUST CAME TO YOUR PAGE TO FIND A VIDEO TO LISTEN TO AS I FALL ASLEEP AND WOWOWOWOWWEW I AM SO HAPPY thank you and good night

Regarding the lack of villain toys for My Little Pony: a lot of toy companies and retailers have this weird idea that girls don’t like conflict, so there’s often a big reluctance to make villains in toy lines aimed at girls, even if they’re based on works that feature villains. You might get mean girl type characters but not much beyond that.

Sarah Jesness

man im sorry to hear about weird internet people stressing you out D: please don’t be afraid to take all the time to yourself that you need, we’ll be here!!

slimeyfan123

Re: toys of MLP villains, I went searching briefly to see if there were ever any toys of Teddy, who I would consider a villain and fiend. I think there's not any (obviously) but I found a wonderful still-online Angelfire site of a Teddy fan who has a huge collection of Tales customs, this is awesome https://www.angelfire.com/tx3/teddysplace/talescollection.html

Getting you to fly Salem for the long con

Jenny Nicholson

having just finished the ramble, Jenny, you should always feel comfortable turning off comments or pausing the patreon if it is best for your mental health. the negative comments, whether on the patreon or elsewhere, are largely made in bad faith and the vast majority of us (myself included) are too busy enjoying your videos to contribute to the "dialogue." but don't stress yourself - your fans, casual or otherwise, will be here for whatever you want to post, whenever that is.

val gecko

Okay one more comment since I just got to the part about Salem—I lived there most of my life! Great town, but I recommend going in April or May if you visit as a tourist, since the Halloween season is VERY hectic. Also, Flying Saucer Pizza Company is right next to Gulu Gulu Café, which I also highly recommend.

Ash Gabrielle

You can't fool me with your pizza recommendations! Once I bite into it, they'll be like, "enjoying that BLOOD pizza?"

Danny

Quick mention as a huge ParaNorman fan (who just saw it in theaters for its anniversary!), it does take place in a fictional Massachusetts town meant to be Salem-esque. However, in a twist, it (SPOILERS) doesn't actually feature any proper witches. The "witch" of the film was a young girl who happened to have the power to speak to the dead, much like Norman, and was unjustly killed by the townspeople. It's a really tragic gut-punch for a family film, and so if anyone's coming in thinking "ooh boy, witches!" you'll be disappointed. It's mostly zombies, and the "witch's curse" is moreso a vengeful ghost. All used in a way to express social commentary, as the way many of the best horror films do, of course!

Max

I actually ran to my computer when I heard flying saucer mentioned !! My best friend lives in Salem and I live right nearby, that is one of our fav places !!!

Julia Valanzola

Do what you gotta do for your mental health, that's the most important thing. Love your work, and would really miss it, but you gotta stay sane.

Uvtha

I feel like if Alex Russo can be called a wizard, then Jafar deserves to be called a witch!!

BadgerBuddy

There is a path to success for the Harry Potter remake, which is legit just disregarding the books and basically just recreating the Dawson's Creek formula. This would set off millennials' nostalgia/comfort response like nothing we've seen before but they're too cowardly to take that path (which is more than fine by me, jkr doesn't need any more money)

Caden Meyer

happy halloween!!

Alx Windsar

Haven't finished the video yet, but I must say if shadow-beings count, my girl Vivian from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is an S tier.

Ash Gabrielle

On a human level if you need time away I really hope you take it, and that’s the most important thing! And then on a fan level as someone who loves your videos, I hope you do whatever you need to do to make this career sustainable and rewarding for you. I’d rather you step back for a while with the intention of returning than keep pushing through pain until you burn out entirely! Thanks for the many hours of entertainment!! 💜

Dani Langlie

Caspar felt like one of those shows that would just be on sometimes, and the uncles were always so off putting. What’s his face in the thumbnail was definitely the worst. I’m really sorry about those comments, Your Nastiness. Regarding the secret movie, I think it’s fine to not do a preview if something is intended to be a surprise or kept secret for some reason. (I personally am really intrigued and don’t want to know what the movie is until the video comes out) If you wanted to do a Patreon perk, maybe there’s something else that could be released to give people a bonus? Maybe something like outtakes or a mini-ramble?

long time viewer first time commenter maybe, i dont remember if i've commented before i think if you want to take a break you should. there's a lot of life to live and i don't think anybody should have to suffer constantly over harmless art and thoughts they share with others in the name of fun. i do sincerely enjoy watching and rewatching your stuff, your videos are incredible and the rambles are the best thing about the end of the month. i hope if you choose to take time off we see you back again soon. best wishes, hope you and the fur bearing trout are doing well tonight (it's my favorite plush of yours idk) 💜

Peach

Agreed, even though previews are listed as one of the perks, there's a huge enough backlog of Patreon videos to make up for it.

tumbleweed🍂

Jenny, I saw you went to Salem a few years back. Did you know the Hocus Pocus movie was really filmed there? Last time my friend and I went, we visited a bunch of sites where scenes were filmed. Salem really is the quintessential New England Halloween town!

Julia Marostica

Thank you for the great ramble Your Nastiness! And I know it's a perk some of us are paying for, but I say don't upload a preview for the next vid. Personally I'd rather wait and get the entire thing all at once.

See now thats a nice hat, I like how its firm so that it holds the artisinal lumping Thank you for this video I spent Halloween grading papers..... I needed Halloween whimsy so bad. Yeees, this will do nicely my precious... Eee heee hee hee heeee Ranking Fairies above witches on the coolness axis feels divisive. Also I'm just going to say it the witches were cooler in winx club. (Im just kidding I was alienated by the art style as a child, but damn I loved those twirly fairy launcher things... skydancers?) My favorite witch is the evil queen just because of that gif where she goes into the hatch in the ground cackling. Just such a vibe PS IF YOU LIKE THEMED DRINKS: I made Food Network Bubbling Cauldron Punch for a party earlier this week- I put it in a big ol cauldron with a ladle, it got all foamy, and it was heavy but it was sooo good. I used haagen daz green tea, Malibu, and the great gentleman ginger beer. It is a fun drink!!! I wish I had a cauldron of it right now 🧙‍♀️

Wendy's design reminds me of a Warner Bros. animation style guide from like the 40's, where part of it was "how to design a cute character," having baby-like proportions and giant eyes was a big part of it and her onesie-style witch outfit was probably made with this in mind. Casper is like, the ghost version of this concept. Also I'm guessing Wendy's witch onsie is red so it stands out among other comic books. I wish I saved these or knew where specifically they were from because it was an incredible amount of thought put into cartoons where most of the humor comes from falling anvils

Ted Koutz

your awfulness, we the army of henchmen will stand by you taking whatever breaks you need!! i think internet criticism culture is reaching a strange critical mass that we can all sense and im in full support of everyone doing what they can to distance themselves from that

a. sharp

Ah your Revoltingness, what a most exquisite tier list for this Halloween night! Nyahaha! Maybe for the preview of the bad movie video, you could censor any identifying parts of the movie like the title, names of characters, etc. just to avoid people getting really weird and causing trouble before it even comes out? It'd be kinda funny to still keep people in the dark and have them only receive very out of context criticism about the mystery movie, but idk how much work it would take to put that together for a preview.

Ryan Coomes

As soon as Jenny said Aggie Cromwell I started chanting "S Tier S Tier S Tier" and then I cheered. Reasonable people can differ in witch opinions about many witches but Aggie is the GOAT. I also support Jenny's avant garde ranking system, whereby characters who literally had witch as part of their name/brand ended up in C or F Tier. It's that bold and compelling decision making that makes her videos so entertaining. Sometimes characters end up being called witches because the in-universe characters didn't have a better idea about what to call them, but Jenny shows that we need not fall victim to that limited thinking. Excellent video, Happy Halloween!

That's one of those things that I've seen people claim on tumblr, but I've also seen it debunked as just being an old-fashioned hat that has never been particularly associated with Jews. I'd like to think I'm pretty well informed on historical antisemitic stereotypes in Europe and I've literally never seen this claim anywhere other than a few vague tumblr posts. I don't think it's a thing.

I can't wait to see where Mary-Kate Olsen from Beastly ranks.

Gonna leave some ratings for the witches in The Owl House (spoilers!!!) Eda Clawthorne- I'd say A teir. She has the classic Old Lady aesthetic (even though she's only like, 40), she has a creepy old house where she makes potions, and she has a very fun 'cackling madly over a cauldron' energy. Her harpy form is C teir though Lilith- season 1 is C teir, she's too much of a cop to have any real witch energy. Season 2 is B teir, but she's a little too nerdy (affectionate) to rise to the same level of Eda in witch energy Amity, Willow and Gus- all B teir, they all have a more 'modern witch with a crystal ball' aesthetic, which isn't bad it's just not peak witch Luz- C teir normally, she has just too much optimistic energy (and bright, modern clothes) to be a good representation of a witch. But her final titan form is S teir, she has the witches hat and everything, it's great.

ouro-bore-os

my favorite witch is Samantha Stephens <3

In sports, great players often draw the ire of opposing team's fans. I feel like that's maybe sorta kinda where some of this hate you're experiencing could be coming from. Vitriol has unfortunately become par for the course these days on any content/social media platform. People's misguided anger being scattered in the wrong directions.

Excellent video Your Nastiness!

JuicyWizard

I think Fear Street (film adaptations)'s take on the Salem witch trials is a decent one. (Spoilers) The women accused of witchcraft are completely innocent, so the townspeople are the ones painted with the blame/evil where it belongs (albeit exaggerated in the devil worshiping guy), and while they do sort of represent the "witch" victim in a supernatural way, her "curse" is more like a memory of the history/truth that wants to reveal the real evil and absolve the innocent.
