It’s so validating to have someone share the weird feelings I had about the Class Action Park documentary. They really did show us a family reeling from the tragic death of their teenage son only to switch up the music and end on people being nostalgic for the park and reminiscing about the good ol’ days when water parks didn’t need boring stuff like “regulations”.

natalia sobieszczanski

I’m late to this one because I’m a new patron but I’m a local to Action Park and felt like I should share lol. Both of my parents worked there at its peak. My mom hated it because she was constantly being sexually harassed by guests. She would get calls from lawyers for years afterwards concerning the deaths that happened there even though she didn’t witness any. My dad hated the documentary because he thought the talking heads were posers who didn’t even hang out with them when they did the crazy stuff lol. I don’t know anyone who actually goes to the water park ever, although I did go zip lining there as a kid. The ski resort is very popular though.

All of my theme park knowledge is from Jenny...

Neil Dutton

Do most of Jenny's viewers really know so much about theme parks? I usually have never even heard of the things she talks about, so any kind of explanation from her is always very welcome :D Probably largely because I live in Europe

Grethen S.

Jenny cursing the entire family is a wonderful twist for this random video

Lars Mario

Magiquest was literally what came to mind when Jenny was describing what she thought the galaxy’s edge gameplay should’ve been

Tripsupstairs

playing great wolf lodge magiquest with my brother is one of my fave childhood memories. we didnt even pay for a wand, we found someone's lost guide booklet in the lobby and followed the story through that, and would lurk around each touchpoint until someone with a wand came to activate it. running around a hotel unattended by our parents but still feeling safe the whole time. so awesome.

Brittany Toombs

“Cocaine can’t explain this” is a wild way to downplay the dysfunction of a theme park’s management

Anemone Plenary

I hate that you mentioned this because now it's driving me crazy too 😭. I just know it's a reference to Snorri, the mascot of a water park in Germany. EDIT: I FOUND IT! It says "Time to make a splash"

NPA

Ok, just got to the point where you talk about Class Action Park. I’m so fascinated by your perspective and that of many other commenters. I’m realizing that the doc probably was better suited to other Gen Xers, like myself. I can see how later generations could see that the creator of the park was not sufficiently portrayed as a selfish and dangerous person. For me and my friends, we absolutely were and are horrified by how the park was run and how little justice was offered the suffering families. To us, it was a revealing and troubling documentary about how our childhoods were so dangerous and unprotected. But I’m very interested in this phenomenon of perspectives. I’m very glad we began to watch your take on this matter.

Tayen

Wow, I can’t believe you did a video about Action Park! Chris Gethard was a part of the documentary about it, Class Action Park, which was on HBO. It was incredible. Excited to watch this!

Tayen

WHAT does Jenny’s shirt say 😭 idk why but it’s driving me crazy and I need to know

Gabi

Of course you mouse squeaks. It's a mouse. Duh

tako tako

I know this bc of Margaret Atwood lol

Ginger Jones

Someone else may have already pointed this out but in Canada "Swiss Chalet" is a chain of chicken restaurants (in my opinion bad, terrible chicken restaurants with nasty sauce) so whenever Jenny says Swiss Chalet my head would pop up and I'd be confused for a moment why we're talking about chicken restaurants

Kyla M

My parents went there went they were younger - they remember going on that rugged tunnel water float turning zigzag and then being spit out and dropped “at least 5ft”. One worked at Six Flags Great Adventure and the other as a camp counselor - they knew it was unsafe and barely went on anything because ‘it felt some guys hit the lotto and made This in their backyard”. Oh and just for flavor - my dad went there with all of the Great Adventure staff one day they called it ‘offsite learning’ lol. Apparently they stopped to give some construction workers beers on the way up while stuck in Jersey traffic.new patron long time viewer - great video Jenny!

graysun

Does anyone remember that Johnny Noxville movie that was sorta a parody/pastiche of Action Park? Where he just got hurt a bunch or something, did anyone watch that

EndOfTour

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was left with a sour taste after the Class Action Park doc. You just spent an hour telling me about horrific child death and injury and a rich man refusing to pay anyone for the harm he caused and then you ended it with some Gen X 'our childhood was so much better' bullshit. People died! Your childhood wasn't better, you're lucky to be alive.

"The guy who ran this broke a lot of laws, I guess" yeah, that tracks, he's a wallstreet flunkie

Senna Fox

This will probably be buried, but if you ever want to go to one of the two remaining Great Wolf Lodge locations that have the animatronic show in the lobby I can get you in on a friends and family discount. I work in the department in charge of the kids entertainment and character appearances and I’d be happy to hook you up! Our clock tower show is not in the best shape anymore, but it’s the only one that’s still around that plays this particular version of the show, the only other one plays an older version at the Wisconsin Dells lodge. Ours is also still running the older legacy version of Magiquest instead of the fancy new versions so it still has the ancient character models lol

Lily Brogan

I feel bad you feel like you need to present a bunch of research, I’m happy just hearing your thoughts and opinions or ideas of what it could have been or what it would be like today.

Whitney B

My mom went to action park as a kid and took a 10 year old me and my cousin when it reopened, I can testify that people still got injured. We went on the 18 foot cliff jump and were instructed by to do nothing other than a pencil jump, the kid right before me didn’t and landed flat on his face and was taken out on a gurney and was described to us as ‘temporarily paralyzed.’ The mooville family or whatever it is continues to leave a stain on the health and well-being of children today I also curse them. Just don’t have a cliff it’s actually so easy to not let children jump off cliffs.

“That one Haunted House where the guy just beats you up” WAIT WUT

LKB

i'm watching the star wars hotel video for the first time and i'm flabbergasted that the great wolf lodge magiquest experiences i had 10+ years ago were so much better in every possible way than the star wars gameplay. if magiquest is stil anything like it was back in my day i think it would be worth it

Sarah Edmondson

My dad is one of those "let kids play" dads, but not like this. Because in addition to that belief, he is also a big safety guy. I had to wear full gear riding my bike with training wheels. I could do silly goofy things but only if I had the right equipment.

MilesKaySolomon

Big Bear, CA still has an alpine slide like that. Tried it out only because I saw it on the Class Action Park documentary. It was, in fact, as scary as they make it out to be.

Colleen de Grasse

Hey Jenny. I worked at great wolf lodge as a lifeguard for a while, and I’m here to tell you that they can be quite gross. I like water parks and it is rather fun, but they serve alcohol at the park, which leads to a lot of drunk parents treating the park like a daycare center

Colton Ames

Jenny reacting to Filian reacting was not on my bingo card

Jonathan Chan

No one is mentioning the great documentary Class Action Park I believe it is on netflix

Jean Klurfeld

I'm sorry was that the same witch book that I unironically bought from Earthbound in 2017

Gio Borrani

omg we have the same name Hi

mari !

I grew up in the area too and a kid in my fifth grade class died at Mountain Creek. This was 20 years ago so hopefully it's safer now.

Brittany Rees

I hope Jenny knows about the extremely weird animatronic show that was at GWL. everything else there was basically fine

Marisol Thompson

I live in NJ and went to this park as a kid after it was renamed to Mountain Creek! They still had the cliff jumps and the Tarzan swing, I remember feeling like there was nothing safe to do 😂 never went back. It’s still a popular winter skiing spot and catering/event space though, so thank you for this background info!

What a prickish comment

Carrie Tobey

I appreciate you trying to make the best of a premise that your heart wasn't in, but the result ends up feeling like I'm paying a small donation each month for VERY half-assed commentary. I would have subscribed to your Patreon to support you regardless of these videos, but I'm still taken aback at how low-effort your takes on many of these end up being.

RUMOR HAS IT that Universal Studios Los Angeles will have a new ride for Halloween Horror Nights 2025: Rooftop Reverie, an Elisa-Lam-themed "waterslide" that is mostly a sensory-deprivation tank.

Steve Ray

worked at a waterpark as a teenager where a guest broke their neck on a specific corner of a rapids ride and their solution, instead of fixing it, was to put a guard there to catch people as they came hurtling towards it. lot of guards got hurt working that corner. waterparks are so freaked dude

Caligula and Methuselah

I don't know how to get this to Jenny's attention but just so you know, OPPOSITE WORLDS CAME BACK, KIND OF, it's actually on Chilean TV (apparently, the original show is chilean and ran in 2012!). There’s clips on their instagram: mundosopuestos13

Camila Vaccaro

There’s no way Jenny isn’t working on a theme park book…

Colin Savage

It’s so funny you bring up great wolf lodge because in your Star cruiser video whenever you were talking about the physical and virtual interactive element you want I was metaphorically yelling at my screen ‘you want great wolf lodge!!!’ I liked the water park as well but the part I still remember is magiquest and running all over the hotel with my brother and our wands, pointing at everything we saw to see if it would move (and most of the time it did!) I think you would have a great time going and just never entering the water park itself.

Marcella

once on a trip to Austria as kids we visited a park that had an alpine slide that I'm pretty sure was the same style since one of my brothers totally flipped his cart and got massive road rash down one of his legs and arm. Think we just kinda wrapped him up and kept on going, he was always the sibling to get hurt doing reckless stuff..

Elizabeth Havens

I may not have been to Action Park or gone down any dangerous rapids, but I got blisters from the original Mario Party and one of those joystick rotation minigames had a rapids ride in it. I'd be okay with a T-shirt saying "I survived Mario Party 1".

JF

The Great Wolf Lodge in Niagra had a whole $30 dollar magic wand thing when I was their 3 years ago. Kids could build their increasingly expensive wand and then interact with a few screens and chests around the hotel area (not in the waterpark!).

Neil Dutton

‘Tis peak, Jenny. Thank you for providing humor and critique without needlessly dissecting actual tragedies. We come for the laughs and unique insights, but we stay because of your continued empathy and integrity.

Renata

Just checked the Wikipedia thing - the next source after that claim is the book "Skiing in New Jersey?" by Elizabeth Holste and I did a command F for "Worlds Fair" through the book on Google Books and found it. "Most of the original furniture in the Great Gorge South's base lodge came from one of the exhibits from the 1964/1965 World's Fair" - page 76. Seems to be a pretty amateur book (the full sentence had a typo in it) but there are citations at the back ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Penelope Winterbottom

I had to pause and leave for work right after I got to the Manteca water slides jingle and I had it stuck in my head for hours. That’s some good marketing, too bad the park is dead

Euphrasie Cullen

Adding to the canon: Behind the Bastards did a great episode on this park (and the guy behind it)!

Jessica Lysne

Is that the spellbook from Let’s do real magic making an appearance in 2025???? That’s a real deep cut Jenny

Tbing34

jumping in to echo a few other people's remarks - you are the only youtube creator I watch, so as far as I'm concerned, any video you make is the only one I'm likely to see about a given topic. And in any case, your writing and delivery and editing are always so fantastic that it wouldn't matter to me if I had already watched ten videos about it - I'd still be psyched about yours! I suspect the same is true for most of us here on the patreon too :)
