Ramble: Theme Park Merch only a mother could love

I had a dream once where I went to an italian theme park and they had plush hats of the winx club characters even though they're humans. Like a big plush hat but it was  Bloom's head from the nose up, hair and all but the hair was just a shape sewn out of cloth. But I woke up to no hat on my head at all. Such a bitter loss

Ramble: Theme Park Merch only a mother could love

Comments

Pandora Merch (as of May 2025) is still selling that stupid translator thing and absolutely no one was touching it lmao. A really, really weird merch offering they have now: potted plants. Like, a glass beaker with a plant in it decorated with colorful rocks to look... Pandoran? Maybe? It's such a comically bad idea for merch! They even had to POST A WARNING that you can't import these plants internationally or to certain states in the US (one of which being California). And even if you could transport it, potted plant in glass container has got to be the worst possible thing to try and pack. The only market for this merch would be me, a Florida resident who lives close to the parks, and even then, why on Earth would I want to buy a barely themed plant and then have to haul it around the park the rest of the day! On every single level that has got to be the stupidest merch I have ever seen. (I also had the rare opportunity to go with a friend who is the only avid Avatar fan I know, and the only merch she was interested in was the Banshee loungefly backpack and the lit blackbox art).

I love the molderama’s even though they are so hot when they come out it almost hurts to hold and you can’t pick your color. I so hope one day you get to try it

Sarah

The first and only reference I had to pull from when Jenny mentioned them! I cannot believe there's another soul here who watched "Wonderfalls." That and "Pushing Daisies" were my introduction to Bryan Fuller and the bitterly routine disappointment of him never getting to finish one his shows.

Maggie

Those little wax mould figurines feature prominently in the short-lived early-2000s Fox series called Wonderfalls. It was cancelled after two episodes, but the whole first season was available on DVD. Anyway, the opening scene of the first episode is one of those figurines being made. It’s a lion. It’s made of red wax and has a defect, so the lady who made it at the machine tries to “return” it at the counter of the souvenir store where the main character works. The main character has to deal with this customer (the kind we now call a “Karen”). Karen storms off in a huff and leaves the lion on the cash desk, then the lion starts talking to the main character. Yep. The little wax lion turned to her in early-2000s made-for-TV CGI and talks to her. And that’s the premise of the whole show: random objects talk to the main character, and they tell her to do stuff. It was the weirdest show ever and I loved it so much.

Heather

has anyone got a link to the ramble about Disney keys?? love the video

Helena Young

idk if someone has already commented this but they still have and probably always will -because they actually have a small exhibit about them- mold a rama machines at the chicago museum of science and industry!!! its also just a really fun museum (nostalgia might be clouding my judgement plus i havent really been to other science museums), they have a gigantice model train that runs from chicago to seattle, they have the colleen moore fairy castle, and they just have a bunch of other really cool stuff! its always my favorite part of going to visit my aunt who lives there lol. also their aquarium is fire if you like those, though atm they are doing some pretty heavy renovation to it so it was kind of a letdown last time i went

Valentine

When I went back in April I got one of the glowing toy daggers from the Avatar gift shop that I plan on turning into a prop for something else... This isn't the first time I've bought merch AT Disney to re-use for something totally unrelated. I wish they'd still had the pods though.

Alice Blehart

The Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago has one in the monkey house. (At least it did in 2023) You may also find some in the field museum and museum of science and industry in Chicago.

Alice Blehart

BEDKNOBS AND BREWSKIS you were so close 😂

Meg Hawkins

You definitely need to wear the Twila hat with a wig cap

Dogman

I would KILL for squishmallows of Disney park food. Mickey pretzels, Mickey waffles, dole whip, Turkey leg…the options are endless. I also request orange bird and figment ones.

Abigail

Jenny's drunk shirts are also so much better than the real ones

Samantha Chapman

JENNY I will have you know I'm a complete mark for the Munchlings line. I find them all super cute. I own a complete collection of the pins, including the advent calendar, the magic band, the fleece throw, and two of the giant plush. I have a problem.

I cannot tell you how much I laughed at "and if you're not bald, that's going to make you bald"

As a california local, I had never seen a mold-a-rama machine in my life until moving to florida. They definitely have them all over Busch Gardens in Tampa, and I know i’ve seen one at Universal Orlando in the Mummy gift shop, but I’m not sure if they have it there year-round or only during halloween horror nights. If you’re ever back there it might be worth a look though! Other than that, they’ve been verrrrry few and far between, and never in California.

Brenna Walton

I think I found one of the best Disneyland merch items that only a mother could love! In the art store Disneyana by Abraham Lincoln, there’s a sketch of the Cinderella mice gathering beads like from the movie. I won’t say what it looks like, but it’s when the mouse puts the beads on another mouse’s tail… You can Google that lol. Definitely not something you would expect at Disneyland. It is C9 in their book, and the artist did say that they are going to remove it soon. But if you act fast, it’s definitely a fun item that you can shockingly get in Disneyland.

The reason there’s so many moldarama machines in Chicago is because they are made by ONE company in Brookfield, IL which is a Chicago suburb. They service machines in Detroit, Milwaukee, and other Midwestern cities. In Chicago they are in Brookfield Zoo, Lincoln Park Zoo (primate house), Museum of Science and Industry, and Field Museum. At Brookfield Zoo they change them out seasonally and have Christmas and Halloween models.

I'm borderline heartbroken by the Mary Poppins Drink "pun" because we have the perfect colloquialism for 'very drunk' for the occasion in Ireland (possibly just the North). It could have been: supercalifragilisticexpialiSTOCIOUS. What might have been...

Brookfield Zoo in Chicago also has a bunch! this video is wild as a chicagoan, I didn't realize these were rare (nationally speaking)

OtterofLore

about the moldarama! i work at the museum of science and industry in chicago which has a moldarama exhibit with 6 machines and at least 5 more throughout the building, and you can find them in the chicago field museum as well!

after the newest ramble, the part about there being an evermore mole in the patreon is so funny omg

I think you're completely right about how Harry Potter land works better than Star Wars land because Harry Potter has capitalism built into it so much as a brand, to the point that I've seen theories that the publisher picked up Harry Potter not because of its quality but because of how toyetic it was, but I think Diagon Alley and Universal Harry Potter World are also helped by the fact that they are recognizable locations from the original IP and Batuu is nothing. Instead of using the exact same design, making the setting in Mos Eisley on Tattooine, they forgo all familiarity with the setting that the guest could conceivably have. They prioritized the timeline over the themepark experience to the detriment of the experience. Nobody wants canon compliant Star Wars Land. People want to get a picture with Darth Vader and Kylo Ren at the same time, and they want to hear that funky little song that is canonically jizz music. It felt as though Disney wanted to ignore the Star Wars that people loved and push their new IP onto the consumer. also the way you feel about munchlings being kind of pointless because the characters are not very recognizable (either because of their obscurity or because of the design change) and the food not being something very many people have eaten is exactly how I feel about the disney pins that are like just regular ice cream cones that will have a character related design. I feel like I've also seen cupcakes but like I'll watch pin unboxings (I'm obsessed with them for reasons I don't understand, I don't do pin trading and I don't even live in Florida anymore) and half of them are just like "it's a popsicle that's orange and brown like pluto" and you're like ok... that was fifteen dollars? it's a very strange move on their part.

Libby

The Field Museum also still has some. Tragically the Lincoln Park Zoo ones aren't there anymore :(

If you’re ever in Chicago, the Museum of Science and Industry has Mold-A-Rama machines

JG

The only munchling I was ever slightly tempted by was the Pain and Panic reversible one, and that's mostly only because I like Pain and Panic so much. The Figment Newton is definitely a cutie though.

Those mold-a-rama machines have a very distinct smell that I recognize anytime I walk into an area with one (molten plastic?). I think I must have encountered them more as a kid, pretty sure my local zoo had some with various animals, wanna say I had one of a giraffe. I don't see them around that often but they did actually have one at the halloween horror nights and the Jurassic Park tribute stores at the Florida park.

Celozon

This video is doing a great job at keeping me company while I cook dinner today

Alysha Troxell

There's a mold-a-rama at the Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas. It cost $4 to make when we went last year. We got a red Pluto mold. I know it's not in CA but if you ever head to Vegas, you could try there

Super late to the video, but I figured I'd mention that Busch Gardens in Tampa has a ton of animal molds like that

Anna Mott

the Pearl Munchling is looking like one of these blue/pink doublesided octopus plushies.

Winja

I really wanted the cinnamon bun Munchling, I'm sad to hear they're not very scented :( The strawberry smell on my Lotso is SO strong, I'm surprised the Munchlings aren't the same

Olivia Smith

I'm so glad you mentioned the thing about shiftok, the first time I heard about it I thought 'So they're using their imagination. That's fun.' But like yeah I don't get this insistence that it's real, I end up wondering if they think it has to be real to matter and be important, like no it's okay and in fact great to have a strong imagination, and you can just have a good fun old time.

She's said before that she's not going to go back to it.

Papa Q. Bear

I completely agree about plush bags! I have so many and the old ones are like fully functional backpacks. I also want to shill a little for my friend's shop, I really reccomend these for holding stuff, especially the Long Bags! https://uglyplants.com/collections/purses

With the mentioning of Star Wars land, was part 2 scrapped or put on the backlog?

MaxMin

Thank you for the food jenny 🙏🙏🙏 The live re-enactment of 'TOWN MEETING. TONIGHT.' at the end had me rolling.

low level rat

I can't believe that cork gun says "it's harmless!" on it. Like, yeah if you're at a range that a gun would normally hit you it's harmless, but imagine some kid pretends to shoot you when they're less than a foot away and you get nailed with the little metal thing!

Markus D

The Avatar pun is Na'Vino

Nick McKay

The thing about Chicago and the Mold-a-rama's is that theyre all at the museums and zoos so you have to go out of your way to find them, they aren't convenient or even easy to access, iirc the gorilla one at Brookfield isn't anywhere near the gorilla exhibit it's in some building at the end of the zoo, and all the ones at the Field Museum are hiding in the basement. Also the wax molds are EXTREMELY HOT when they come out, like you can barely hold them.

Winona Honey

Don’t know if you ever get down to Tennessee but the Knoxville zoo has a bunch of animal mold a Rama things!

Jenny Anne

If you’re looking for a pretty close mold-a-Rama machine, there’s a Disneyland machine at this antique store in San Jose area called Montebello Road. Definitely worth the trip up! I just went and they had the Peter Pan mold at the moment, but they switch the molds every month or so. The owner of the machine mentioned she was going to do a cool mold for Halloween!

AmWa

This video advertised munchlings to me to the point where I am now obsessed and have several…

Erica

A month late but my friend and I used a mold-a-rama machine at the Seattle Space Needle - I think it was from the world's fair. My friend specifically recognized it and wanted to do it because she'd heard about them from you lol

Jenny there are multiple molds-A-Rama machines at the Henry Ford museum in Michigan. And I was just there like two weeks ago, so I can say on good authority they are there. Also greenfield village, which is a part of it, is awesome. There is a bunch of old houses and people dress in character and drive model Ts and ride those one big wheeled bikes.

I love the pie boy so much.

Frontlinecaster

I don't have enough words for how hard I was laughing at the Avatar "Wand" oh my god. Just absolutely losing all of my shits.

Lambda34Delta

I'm sooo looking forward to the starcruiser video!

Brianna R.

only moldarama ive ever seen is at the childrens museum in my city and its definetly treated as a retro oddity haha. so cute though!

I HAVE NOTICED! I wanna buy a sonic backpack but they hold NOTHING

Logan

The OKC zoo has a bunch of those mold-a-ramas of different animals. I had a huge collection as a kid.

This makes me want more trinkets ✨

Teagan Mulford

As of 2021 the Field Museum had one as well. I have a stegosaurus!

Fun fact, I actually went to high school with a person who’s prominent on shift tok and got cancelled on it. I like to just check on their page every now and then and see how that’s going.

Sarah Parker

To'ruk Mocktail

No I don’t that I can figure out for some reason

Thanks I’ll try that

weird because i'm in the netherlands so i don't see why it would be different. you don't have a cc button?

you can get a rough outline by clicking youtube-> watch on youtube-> then the three dots next to download-> dropdown menu: save, report, show transcript. you'll click on the last one and a live transcript will appear next to the vid. like youtube auto subtitles, its rough but at least something.

O Bow

Ah those don’t show up for me, might be cause I’m in the uk maybe

there's auto generated ones so that's something at least- i also wish we had proper ones though

WOOO CHICAGO MENTIONED (also, if u ever find urself in Chicago, the field museum has dino mold-a-ramas!!)

Was wondering if there was a way to get subtitles for these videos? I’m deaf and I’d really like to be able to continue watching without guesswork lip reading lol. ❤️❤️❤️

Greetings from Germany! My recommendations: Piraten von Batavia: incredibly beautifully designed world, lots of animatronics, you can't stop being amazed! Schneeflöckchen Fahrt in Russia: We do this ride every time. It's just so wonderfully bad. Zauberwelt der Diamanten in Austria: You can walk through the cave yourself and then come to a beautifully designed gift shop. That blew my mind as a kid. Grimms Märchenwald: A beautifully designed fairy tale land, you can enter many towers and little houses and let yourself be surprised. Abenteuer Atlantis in Greece: I know it's for kids, but I just love sitting in a little boat and shooting paperfish down, which then flip over backwards. The very best: IRELAND! You should definitely go to Limerick Castle (I'm a smaller woman myself, so totally possible) and try out the indoor playground there. There are so many paths, you can almost get lost ... or suddenly end up in a ball pool. Just great. Above the adults' heads there is a small village of small huts connected with nets. In it you can listen to stories.. I have never seen such a well-designed children's area. What to leave out: Loop Restaurant: I really don't think it's worth the queue. The food comes on the rails, which is a short joy. You can watch one or two loops, but funnily enough, you get used to it quickly. EuroSat in France: It used to be really well designed (80s Sci-Fi), now it's just a poor designed Moulin Rouge theme. The ride is also very bumpy. EuroMir in Russia: Ouch. Have fun!

my little cousins lose their MINDS for the munchling things, it's working super well for little kids afaik

Imagine the joy on my face when Jenny begins to talk about the Attractionistas, and I look to the shelf on my right to where I own ALL OF THEM. I feel so seen

Rhetoric Al Leigh

Hey Jenny, the Brookfield Zoo and Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago both have tons of Mold-a-Rama Machines. The MSI has an exhibit on mold-a-ramas, last time I visited.

At 1:12 did you mention you're going here? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12211285/Huge-fire-breaks-Germanys-biggest-theme-park-after.html

Paschal & Di

Is that a female Ronald McDonald in the background?

James Flemming

I might have to make a 101 Libations shirt. I'm sorry.

Meg

There's a mold-a-rama machine at The Pinball Hall of Fame, in Vegas. If your ever in area.

Charles Nicks

Can confirm that the Munchlings seem to have been shipped to Australia. They are the only actual Disneyland merch I’ve seen here.

Jo and Gareth

It's surprising to me that you don't see Disney trying to create more original characters for the theme parks. I went to Disney World for the first time last month, and I had been under the impression that orange bird and figment were sort of niche, and only savvy theme park media consumers were aware of them, but was surprised that there is merch for both of them absolutely all over the parks. I get that current direction is that rides all have to be tied to movie IP, but it seems like fairly low effort to attempt another little restaurant or food stall mascot.

Alexis

I now have the deep need for there to be an Attractionista for Mr. Toad's Wild Ride

Michael Apgar

Saludos Borrachos!

Busch Gardens and Gatorland in Florida have Mold-O-Ramas, Gatorland only has the one but Busch Gardens at least three.

Time for a Jenny Nicholson fan to infiltrate the Evermore crew.

Ello Asty

Hey Jenny. This is random as hell but I think this is the best way for me to ask is here. I want to make a YouTube video that’s copying the idea of “top ten lame things to do at Disney world”. None of the things on my list overlap with your list. I totally understand if you don’t want me to use your idea but it’s good one and I wanted to ask.

Erica

Oh geez, that Twi'lek hat sounds awful! I've made a few cosplay wigs using stuffed pantyhose, they're definitely less heavy than some latex thing.

Bumblepuppy

If I ever start a band it will be called Ho Ho Situation

Luis

Honestly I'd argue the biggest problem with the munchlings is the theme just seems oversaturated. I mean have you been to the toy isle at Walmart? There's almost a whole isle dedicated to cute squishy food themed blind box plush. It's just oversaturation to the extreme. Most of the people who like collecting this kinda stuff are probably already collecting like three lines similar to it. No human can contain this many plush obsessions!

TalkieSoundBox

Drunkerbell? With Drinkerbell sitting *right there*, and it rhymes? Maybe someone copyrighted/trademarked it or something

Petie

jenny, curse you for bringing that baymax munchling to my attention. i am a baymax (and smores!) lover and i am staring at myself, ashamed, reflected on my computer screen as the shopdisney munchling webpage loads.

Gin Erso

Jaz Mei Luo

I mean from the way she described how it feels to wear, I wouldn't wish that upon her 😆 Unless you're talking about the one she made herself in which case it probably wasn't convenient to grab or she wanted to save it for her full main channel video 😜

Jaz Mei Luo

I CAN’T be the only patron disappointed that Jenny didn’t model the Twi’lek hat!

Rick Clark

Same! And tiny merch is cuter by nature, so I bet it would even be easier to sell cute-ified Pandora alien pods. And as far as big plushies go, they are a struggle to wrangle in a suitcase for the trip home, and you have to ind somewhere to display them, or store them, so that probably also stops people rom impulse buying.

I still don't quite understand why they stopped selling Tsum Tsum (except in Japan) - when I went to Eurodisney or a disneystore I'd always grab one for me or a friend because they were so cheap and cute and you could put it on a shelf without thinking about it too much. They keep selling adorable tiny designs in Japan (Urupocha, tenohira nenne, poteniro) but I feel everywhere else the strategy is to make people buy massive 30 bucks plushes of like, Lotso or Mickey in a pirate costume...I guess it must work for them but if I had money and space to spend I'd rather buy 6 slices of that pie plush and display a massive plush pie in my living room

Elise

When you asked which one is the rat i audibly exclaimed “I would NEVER rat you out Jenny 😤”

FlorenceOfFlowers

Ohh that‘s amazing, thxx so much for the Info! I‘ll watch it then, I haven‘t been a patreon for long😅

Marie

Jenny went to phantasialand last year! She posted a vlog here on patreon in september

Lindzzz

I know this is extremely cringe but I bought a "THAT'S NO MOON" death star silhouette etsy shirt to wear to Disney World when I was a visibly pregnant 37-year-old. Joke's on me because that trip was booked for March 2020 so I just wore it inside my own house by myself for months.

Susan Held

If you ever go to Chicago look out for Mold-o-ramas at the Science and Industry Museum or at the Natural History Museum, they preserved lots of expositions from the 80s and 90s it’s worth checking out!

Amanda Moreira

They have a Disneyland Mold-o-Rama at the Pinball Museum in Las Vegas.

hollowpup

Busch Gardens Tampa has a decent amount of Mold-O-Ramas. Theres at least 3 I can think of

Unrelated to the merchandise, but since you‘re going to Germany I really wanted to recommend the „Phantasialand“ theme park. It‘s near my hometown Cologne, so I’ve been going there pretty much since I can remember and I think you would enjoy it a lot. It has lots of heart and love put into it with amazing attractions Imo🥰

Marie

I think the little pointy ears moldarama toy might be the fox from pinocchio

Pretty sure there’s a Disnelyland Moldarama machine in Campbell, CA at Montebello Road: https://www.montebelloroad.com Credit to the Carpetbagger for this info: https://youtu.be/wYMTqjFWk_c

On a more related note: products like this are an example why I love the Disneyparks in theory but actually hate going there and being there. They're wonderful and immersive, but themepark energy and I do not mix even w it's a good theme park. So, I'm more of the "let me lounge somewhere like it's a mall/lookit some animals being lazy/shoppiiiiin"-type. The only worth while, guaranteed good merchandise in the park that are worth the prices for what they are are the pins and the artbooks. Sometimes the plushies will be worth my while -I got my childhood fav Sally from tnbc doll with yarn hair from disneyland -but for the most part the plush merch is deeply unappealing for all the reasons you said. I love squishmallows and squishables but I don't want a Mickey Mouse doll that looks like a food- I want a Mickey Mouse doll. It's so niche and obvious what they're doing. Deeply unappealing in my eyes. I have such anxiety about shopping I literally have dreams where I can't decide on what I want while the store is preparing to close and ready to kick me out and I'm being pressured on all sides to buy something I don't actually need or want. SO MANY of those dreams are set in Disneyland. You and defunctland are the legit only means for me to enjoy these beautiful, wonderful places that I wish I could love but instead they give me night terrors. At the very least, I promise to never make a creepy pretentious hack movie about how disneyland is to blame for men hitting on teenagers. Swear to it.

Franki Lew

Nightmare b4 Xmas is basically like Star Wars where fans obsess over every minor single detail except its with a single movie and not a longer series of films. Jack gets called "bone-daddy" flatteringly in the very beginning and "bone-man" by Oogie Boogie in the end battle. All of this to say, it's not really a catchphrase at all but I love it for the smarmy schmitposting energy. I also prefer tiny phrases from the actual film to stuff with jackandsally that say "misfit love" (which...is not based on anything also js aren't misfits) or the tshirts w Jack that quote the song where he's loosing his mind and being a jerk like it's a good thing. Really I could make a whole side hussle talking about terrible tnbc merchandise.

Franki Lew

My Disney drinking T-shirt offerings are "Kitchen Cabernet" and "Journey into Intoxication."

Ryujin713

When I was a kid, they had Moldarama machines at the Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa (now called Zoo Tampa). They still had them when I went in 2007. Might be worth calling to ask if they still have them!

Lee

Really excited to hear what you think about Europapark, since I was born here and grew up going there a lot. Unfortunately I haven't been in a while but maybe here's a few things that might be useful to you. Someone already mentioned the music at Euromir, but the music there is in general really fun and it's worth it to pay attention. Especially a lot of the older areas are kind of 'the Disneyland at home' in that they seem to go about as close to copyright infringement as legally possible. The main mascot is a mouse, there is a hounted mansion that is quite similar, and Piraten in Batavia is basically just Pirates of the Carribean. or at least it used to be. It burned down in 2018 and has since been reopened and I haven't had an opportunity to look at the new version yet. The Swiss Bob Run is somewhat unexciting, but I find it very interesting because it is a coaster where the cars are not directly attached to the rails. I assume you might end up staying at one of the hotels, but even if you don't you can use their restaurants, if you want to eat there. Finally I think I remember you being nervous about filming in your previous trip to Germany since we are said to not like being filmed. but I think as long as you do not film specific people without their consent (which I assume you wouldn't do anyway) you should be totally fine.

Am I the only one who thinks the tramp "hot dog" is supposed to be a visual pun too? 😬

AD

Where did you get the evermore shirt?!???!!!!

https://mold-a-rama.com/ tracks all the locations for moldarama machines. The largest grouping of them is in Chicago. There are also a handful in people's homes and they make some of the Disney ones and sell them on ebay (but it sounds like you'd rather visit one, so check out the website for locations). Re: Europa. We stayed in the Coliseum themed hotel and had room service and it was AMAZING. I don't think I've ever said that about room service anywhere. We immediately made plans to return next year because the overall experience was so good. One thing that struck me about the place is the "little" rides are incredibly good too and very well themed, so it's hard to say that anything is actually bad enough to skip. It was all a lot of fun and there are tons of quirky dark rides. My favorite coaster there ended up being the Can Can coaster, but Wodan is really good too (just not themed as well as the Can Can one).

Jill Morris

what about a shirt with a pic of Jaq from Cinderella drinking a whisky and coke and it says "Jaq-Jaq and Coke"

QuailMan420

what about a t-shirt with a pic of Ratcliffe and the other colonisers from Pocahontas holding up beers and it says "Drink and Drink and Drink and Drinkety Drink"

QuailMan420

I haven`t been to Europa Park for a while and I hope so badly these things still exist- Keep your heads up for REALLY cheesy 2000s Eurotrash music in Euro Mir! There is also a whimsical scary darkride called Geisterschloss. Also for your consideration: There is a small local Amusement Park called "Holiday Park" just a 1.5h hours away from Europapark. I was a local there and it has really weird stuff.

I collect Mold-A-Ramas! In Chicago there are multiple machines in the Museum of Science and Industry (MSI). Actually the MSI has a Mold-A-Rama exhibit right now so like now is the time to go for anyone interested in them. The Field Museum also has several Mold-A-Rama machines. Never been to the Brookfield Zoo but I believe there are several there as well.

Maybe you could pop by C2E2 someday. You could pretty easily hit up Chicago, Brookfield, and Milwaukee Mold-a-ramas! Also, i totally bought those arm wraps for a friend, and I have no idea if she ever wore them. 😂

I have those Rey arm wraps! They still sell them (although I think they are updated to her look in tRoS). I bought them when I went in April because I like weird pseudo-cosplay stuff like that.

For maximum knockoff, I'd wear a shirt that said Disco Drunk.

as someone that enjoys listening to things while I have to do dumb + physical menial work- but can’t follow audiobooks and refuses to find podcasts- i am very grateful i can pop in and out of patreon a few times a year for your rants :)

There are multiple mold-a-ramas at the Milwaukee County Zoo in MKE, Wisconsin! They've been there for years and won't be disappearing anytime soon!

I'm a pretty frequent WDW park goer and I started collecting the mini Munchlings when they first came out! I love plush, surprises, and scented things so I was really excited. But the newer ones are not scented anymore and they come with the dumb sauce packets, which kind of ruined it for me :( Also!! For your uncomfortable hat: can you stuff it or otherwise modify it in a way that would let one of your giant plushes wear/display it? That's what I do a lot

Re: Munchlings. When I was at the Times Square Disney store, they had an entire bakery demonstration, as if it were a cooking show demo. And then the fake baker went around with munchlings on little trays to prompt us to put them in our baskets. The Hades cupcake munchling with a giant eyeball instead of a cherry remains the most bizarre Disney merch I've seen in quite awhile.

Europa Park is my favorite theme park! My top 3 recommendations: 1) Madame Freudenreich Curiosités - so much lore and merch for such a weird dark ride 2) Arthur world - an incredible indoors garden themed area with a lot of kinetic energy for such a terrible movie 3) Zauberwelt der Diamanten - when I go on Thunder mountain I always wish I could walk around the pretty cave - here you can and there are 2 different rides passing by I don't think you can go wrong with food there - nothing that can't be skipped, nothing super terrible, no important decisions to be made. There are 3 different transportation systems in the park and I think it is a lot of fun to take them all.

Oh also thank you Jenny for explaining the Munchlings, I saw them all over the parks and did not understand what was happening. Still don't fully agree with their choice to give the Mike Wazowski Bagel a butthole. I get that bagels have holes but there were other ways.

New Jenny pateron video drop - just in time to brighten an otherwise fairly rough day. Thank you!!

There's a couple of those Mold-A-Rama machines in a zoo in Saint Paul, MN. Looks like there aren't too many left in existence, at least the legit Mold-A-Ramas. https://mold-a-rama.com/?page_id=1203 Seems like you'll have to go to the midwest to live your dreams. Chicago has several options. If you don't care about the experience, they also seem to sell the toys on that site.

I liked the Harry Potter critique and I liked it even better when it was covered first and in more detail by verilybitcie "the consumerist dystopia of Harry Potter"

went to wdw for the first time in years last month! to the point of galaxy’s edge shopping feeling immersion breaking/wrong for star wars - after having a fairly interactive experience (dressed up in universe, cm’s in good mood, great m&g with chewbacca) which I hadn’t been expecting anyways and don’t mind immersion breaking. when I was in dok ondar’s buying rose’s necklace (which they keep in the back and a cm had to go find one) the cm’s at register were super chatty and lovely, talking to “the boss” behind his desk & all! one asked to see the droids my and my partner had built & then went on to say “oh I’d love to have one but I have only one credit to my name” or something to the effect. cast member pay and in universe implications aside - there was still a second there that crossed the wires in my brain of ‘spending money because you’re at a theme park’ and ‘you’re in star wars what are you doing’ and I hadn’t realized what it was exactly till just now. also a lot of cm’s did have porgs wearing little outfits or with nametags of their own - no notes!!

I haven’t been paying attention to plush backpacks until recently so I thought that they were just generally functionless. I’m glad to know at some point they were actual backpacks as well

great video, but i need that mike wazowski munchling like i need a oxygen.

Having just been in Disneyworld two weeks ago* this was a great ramble, and made me realize I did not pay attention to what the Avatar merch is like these days. They have a special section for Ikrans, I know that... also I forgot that "Pandora" is a jewelry company and spent a minute in Disney Springs staring, confused, at a jewelry display thinking "Why is their Avatar merch so necklace-based?" I saw a group of 30-40 somethings in matching "Drinking Around the World" shirts (and more than one group clearly 6 pavilions in to the game), but now I know they should have had these shirts: Or-Binge Bird Tall(boy) of Presidents Tron: Bud Lightcycles Jungle Booze Cruise Tasting Flight of Passage Crème De Fig-Menthe (okay that one doesn't work but I thought of the pun so here it is) And for those who remember the glory days before the Finding Nemo submarine ride... 20,000 Leagues Over the Legal Limit *We used "Top Ten Lame Things to Do at Disneyworld" as a travel guide, managed all ten (more or less), and my friend who might read this comment wishes it known that all ten suggestions are, in fact, awesome.

Dan Gibbins

We just need Hux to burst in to the comments and proudly tell us all he's the spy. A big thumbs up the huge Nemo hat too!

i am so excited for the return to Evermore video!!! truly you are a just queen and give the people what they want 😌 also i was holding back laughter at work when you brought out the bubble wand... my god lol

Hope Jenny finds the traitor

Christopher E Musgrave

They don't shop in star wars because it's post civilization and isn't magical realism. It just comes down to the setting of the story and time period

Kelly Evans

And the reason buying things is so focal is bc its magical realism. You want the world to be the same but different. Its just how the world works. Plus they had to create a situation where the Weasleys are poor and it matters

Kelly Evans

I can imagine a bunch of studio requested "shopping scenes" to match the commercial success of Diagon Alley. Maybe Paul Atreides popping into Aldi in dune.

I love the Mold-o-Rama machines! My family is from Chicago, and I grew up using these whenever we went to the museum or zoo in the early 2000s. I had no idea they were so rare, I still have to go and make one any time I’m at the Field Museum. Don’t quote me on this, but I believe I read that the company that builds the machines is based in the Chicago area? In any case, here’s a map of some of the locations they’ve been sighted in: https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1Zxzg0VsehOkrVh2FX7AZgBbERWKhP1r9&ll=37.81900659418484%2C-102.01812530550286&z=5&fbclid=IwAR3Cpsg-3bAUv2CW1Kr0AjJNK_ycOQz4YhsE8M_7Imw93BIOmzfRgpZ_C-g

Anna

I disagree on harry Potter. I wasn't drawn to Harry and his money (although I wouldn't say no) I was drawn to the Weasley's who were poor like me but had a real family and loved eachother and I never had that. I just want to live in the Burrow

Kelly Evans

why don't they have you heckle with jawas to buy a t-shirt?

tms

Did that damn bubble wand VIBRATE???//

Malini Correa

come to chicago, we still have mold-a-rama everywhere!

Caitlin O'Malley

So weird that they repurposed turrets from the King Triton's Castle playset for an Avatar bubble wand. Although now that I say that, a King Triton's Castle playset that shot bubbles out the top would be dope as hell. Speaking of pitches, my IYKYK minimalist copyright-skirting shirt pitch is the Beatles first name thing, but it's the mountains, so Space& Splash& Thunder& Snow. Anyway, I can't wait for the Evermore mole to leak the fact that Jenny has never encountered a Mold-A-Rama and is thus a Fake Theme Park Geek Girl.

Rob Fitzsimmons

Sorry to double-post, but... do you guys get super weird recommendations when you watch these videos? Like my recommendations when I watch normal youtube videos are just basically redlettermedia and jenny nicholson with a few other video essayists sprinkled in because that's kind of all I watch. But when I watch these... https://i.imgur.com/VjGx3wu.png Which one of you is trying to use transcendental meditation and biochemistry to boil vegetables and seduce people lol?

Apparently the reason Chicago still has so many Mold-O-Rama machines is that the larger of the two companies that still operate and maintain them is based in Illinois. https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-1993-07-26-9307260062-story.html

I feel like the obvious Avatar-themed drinking shirt would be "Avatar: The Way of Wine/Whiskey/Insert Beverage Here."

Terence Digan

The worst type of bootleg disney shirt is the "I'm too masculine for theme parks" shirt. It's a shirt that says something like "theme parks cost too much money and also I'm not enjoying myself"

Drew Hitchcock

I have that figment munchling! But I also really love figment haha. I bought a bunch of the garden festival stuff at the same time 👌

Smallpotato

I went to those Mold-a-Rama machines all the time when I was a little kid (we did have a lot of them in Florida in the 90's and early 00s)! I always loved the idea of them, but none of the figurines were stable enough for me to handle for more than a few minutes without them just crackling into pieces because they were so hollow and fragile, at which point I would burst into tears and beg my dad to make another one- which would also break in minutes lol. The last time I got one was at the Lowry Park Zoo when I was ten or eleven, it was a little manatee and it also crumbled into pieces within about fifteen minutes. I'm assuming the ones I got were wax, or the plastic was just so thin that a little kid was not meant to actually play with them in the first place lol

There are moldoramas here in chicago!!!!! The field museum has like 10 of different dinosaurs scattered about! I loved getting them as a kid. The best part is the smell of the melted plastic. Come Visit!

My first webkinz had airbrushed blush and i was obsessed. it disappeared after a couple years and some hardcore snuggling and I ended up having no attachment to it at all when it was blushless LOL. Also i’m not too tuned in to Disney, why on Earth did they stop doing tsumtsums?! They’re so cute…

Frita Gee

“Sivako-lada” (and it’s a Na’vi on the back of a Banshee, brandishing a pina colada)

Renata

I disagree that no kid would want to play with a shield. It can’t really work by itself but it’s a fun part of a complete set with a sword or something. Same way you can’t really play with just a cape. Or maybe I was just a weird kid.

IndigoRen

twist ending: the bad movie review is actually just avatar the way of water, and she said "nobody knows about it" because of the lack of cultural impact, and she lied about the movie's quality to throw us off her tail

Austin F

Posting this comment as I go bc Jenny is talking about the commercial potential of the Harry Potter franchise. Verily Ritchie made an amazing video essay on this topic so I just wanted to recommend it.

Tbh when munchlings came out I was soo close to buying the Winnie the Pooh one. But I stopped myself because while I find it extremely cute, I'm not a stuffed animal person so it'd just sit around. I think honestly the first few work as a concept, but they ran out of very recognizable foods very quickly so now it doesn't. They should've not tried to come out with so many at once, it just made them have to really scrape the bottom of the barrel for ideas

I'm like one of the Avatar die hards and like 90% of the merch looks bad cause most the world building/design is too intricate or natural looking to really work in moulded plastic. Like I have some cute stuff but its mainly stuff that other fans have made like resin charm bracelets, or flight of passage scented candles (the LEGO is cute too). Its just not really got an 'easy' item to merchandise like a light saber or wand that will look good even if made relatively cheap

Europa Park Recommendation: Go on the Arthur ride! Lots of animatronics and has great theming, albeit the building on the outside is a little bleh. And also check out the rose garden! For some reason, no one ever walks through it? It's usually pretty empty and peaceful if you need a break from the park. (I think it was near the Germany area of the park? Not 100% sure)

Alexandra M
