I think this is the most on topic video to comment this under: we have two theme parks (?) in Germany called Pullman City. They are a western townn. I had to think about it when you talked about: Ghost Town Alive (in Germany they don't have a clever story about why they have the same parade each day but well). Also if you decide to visit the one in Bayern already burned down earlier this year so maybe your curse won't strike them since it already happened

I grew up twenty minutes from Toverland (and maybe an hour away from Efteling) so it was very fun and nostalgic to see this haul. A fun detail I noticed is that the final song you played from the Toverland soundtrack is sung with a pretty thick local accent. You can tell the guy that sung it is from Sevenum (or close to it, at least) specifically, which is such a fun touch? It makes it sound kinda homemade in a very charming way. I will also now have the song for Carnaval Festival stuck in my head for the rest of the day thanks to your music box. That song is infamously annoying. Really looking forward to your Efteling video.

There's one ride dedicated to Max and Moritz, and hey have toned down the story significantly... meaning, it doesn't end in their gruesome death. The park just took the idea of two mischievous kids and built a small ride surrounding that idea. The surrounding area is nicely decorated in the 'cute German village' theme. The queue and the ride itself were created with the idea in mind that it's something crafted by Max and Moritz themselves, while pulling pranks and engaging in other shenanigans. It's colourful and fun.

As someone who grew up living 15 minutes away from this park and used to go every weekend, it's amazing and very nostalgic to see you talk about it in such a positive way, and I'm very much looking forward to the full Efteling video! I don't know if you are planning to include a section where you get a perspective from people who work at the park, but I know a lot of people who either work there or used to work there. It is a very popular job among teens because you could get free access to the park and a discount for friends.

Yes, all the staff spoke English to some degree and most written media (menus, the plaques explaining stories in the fairytale forest) had English translations underneath. The dark rides are mostly visual storytelling but new ones like Symbolica will throw in an English line now and then. The only things where language might be an issue were the shows Raveleijn and the children's shows in the fairytale forest but I did learn enough Dutch to roughly understand the puppet show for babies lol. Tbh I'd recommend it over a disney park at this time, especially if it's cheaper. Disney has made it so you basically have to book rides, but booking them is a nightmare and also now costs extra. We did Efteling in one of their busiest summer weeks and never waited more than 30 minutes for anything by just being strategic about what time of day we rode (the app helps by showing crowd prediction graphs)

Also, "toveren" is the act of doing magic, magic and enchantment both have different words (magie and betovering). Toverstaf is a magic wand, because it's the wand that can perform magic, Toverland would be the land where magic is performed. People also often say "magische toverstaf", because magie and toveren are decidedly different words.

For kids clothes it's by age. So babies it says a range of months like "3-6 mo", then for kids it says a range of years, up to size 10-12 Tween/teen clothing is odd numbers like 1, 3, 5 and women clothing is even like 2, 4, 6 but I assumed it was too small to be women's sizes

This is so delightful! We only did one day at efteling and did our souvenir shopping right at the end as it was closing so we rushed and I so regret not getting a little music box, I think they're so cool. Re the twinkeltoorts, I looked it up beforehand and I'm pretty sure the interactive ones were like twice the price of the current ones. Shoutout to efteling customer service though - we didn't open ours until we were back in the UK and it didn't work, so I emailed them and they sent a new one straight away ❤️

I have to remind myself every time that "Movie Park Germany" is what they call the park today. When I grew up there, it opened as "Warner Brothers Movie World" and major celebrities showed up for the opening (they go George Clooney and Michael Douglas, among lots of others). I think the park got sold more than once and eventually lost the license to use the WB name, but that's how I'll always think of it. I hope you get to go back to Europe some more for trips because I would love your take on Parc Asterix, Europa Park and Heidepark for example, or even Thorpe Park?

That’s the content I'm here for. I guess there’s no Wuzetown soundtrack because the majority of it is probably just stuff they licensed. Phantasialand didn’t really get into original scores until Chiapas in 2014 when they hired Imascore. On Temple Of The Nighthawk they even played the iconic track "The Egg Travels" from Walt Disney’s animated cult classic "Dinosaur".  Oh well, I hope the Deep In Africa CD features the original hit single "Kamboleo (Drums Of Africa)" by Se-side. That’s one of the best coaster songs, closely followed by Klemens Werner’s "Ride On".

Ahh I love this video! Joined patreon for it! First of all, your dutch is very good, all your translations where on point even the ones you felt unsure about. "Tover" does not always translates to 'magic' one on one but for all tense and purposes of this vid you got the translation right! Second, I am so happy that you got to learn about the (silly) tradition about the toadstools! I have a pic of myself, 3 years old on the toadstool taken in the early '90's. Third, and last, once you open your stroopwafels (Which are Dutch, not Swiss!!) do yourself a favor and eat them with an hot cup of coffee or tea. Put the stroopwaffel on top of your hot cup for a few minutes and enjoy!

I perked up when you talked about the music mushrooms, because I grew up near a park that also had those! There's pictures of me with my ear to the mushroom! Turns out some guy visited Efteling in the fifties and then created a little copy of it in Germany because he liked it so much. What a weird thing to learn about this iconic place of my childhood.

I feel like whenever I see a german cartoon mascot it has deviantart energy, not just in that they're usually not shaded or anything but also in the sense that they seem kind of furry esque. So maybe to locals phantasialand's art graphics seem normal or even high-end

I know you're into them, but I can't help but think that aesthetically, a lot of these theme park mascots have serious "Deviantart" energy and it's very weird for a theme park that should ostensibly have the money for at least more polished graphics to officially show off instead of something like the image of all the dragons you showed on Twitter. I just saw the mascot costume for Moyo and I don't know how to feel about it. It's really riding the line between cute and unsettling and the mix of animal patterns in broad swathes feels a bit lazy. I'm just saying that I've seen hybrid furry art, so I know some people can do better, LOL.

For kids clothes it's by age. So babies it says a range of months like "3-6 mo", then for kids it says a range of years, up to size 10-12 Tween/teen clothing is odd numbers like 1, 3, 5 and women clothing is even like 2, 4, 6 but I assumed it was too small to be women's sizes

Any American can explain how your child sizes for clothes work? I had a chuckle when Jenny guessed that the Rotkäppchen cape was for children aged 4 to 8 and then wondered how you sized children clothes across the Atlantic.
