Ramble: Why Snakes (and other recurring themes in videos which are not the focal point)

Hey all! Happy thanksgiving and here is this month's ramble video! Sorry this one clocks in a bit shorter; this was a more abstract concept and I was a little uncertain what to say on it! I hope I stayed enough on topic because it felt like it might have diverged into a bunch of anecdotes at some point

Ramble: Why Snakes (and other recurring themes in videos which are not the focal point)

Comments

Jenny, you can still be a spider expert because there is no pinning. Spiders are soft bodied and preserved in alcohol. YaY!

Renaud

I know this is old, but if you do something on A Dog's Purpose, check out the Titmouse short animated film "A God's Purpose" ! Very cute and creepy

Orlando Correa

Private :(

Oooch

Why don't you sleep with Spidey anymore?? He needs your love

Chelsea Counsell

I've loved Emily Graslie's YouTube videos about insects/arachnids.

Andrzej Kapolka

This is kind of a mental leap, but in at least 3 different videos, Jenny has described herself as a "texture person" when it comes to food, and I've just always wondered what exactly that entails.

Amery Chang

At 19:59. you say "Noel was awful" and that made me sad

Gumby with a sombrero

I'm very late to this party, but on the topic of scarecrows - strongly recommend the book Small Spaces by Katherine Arden. It's 100% smalltown scarecrow horror book for children. It's great.

Iskra Konovska

I would still want to know your thoughts about Noelle even tho the Disney Plus initial hype has died down tbh. Loved this topic <3

Brianna R.

Today I learned that Jenny used to be a spider hipster.

noxteryn

"It's not stupid." Truly high praise from you. :) : ) : )

1000thghost

We ought to vote for a reading of *quality* fiction sometime, if not for our sake, then for hers.

Steve Ray

Jenny, I think you're an honorary member of Special Interest YouTube.

Doryen Chin

A Disney Plus originals round-up could be very funny! But I do always love a book/fanfic video

Jovana

I'm late to the party but wanted to add that I would also totally love a Jenny podcast where she just reads bad fiction for an hour or two at a stretch. Just any long-format audio content would be wonderful, really.

Stephanie Fink

snakes

Johnny

Oh, nothing! I haven't actually seen it - it was just a reference to Jenny's joke about it in this ramble 😁

Shred Cadmium

Thanks for the ramble!

FireBatV

Yesss I love the book videos, looking forward to another one!

Alison W

wow i can't believe that you unknowingly played "hat" in your spider origin story

Joy

Not gonna lie, that kinda made it sound like she’s a benevolent god. “We believe she hears our prayers, but rarely speaks to us directly. She works in mysterious ways.” 😛

Moira Laidlaw

We believe she reads most, but replies rarely. It's more common for concerns to be addressed or answered (often obliquely) in her Ramble remarks, versus in a typed-out response.

Steve Ray

She has left replies here before.

CMC

I know Jenny doesn’t read the comments on YouTube but does she read these comments?

Moira Laidlaw

Love the yellow and black. I assume your doing a kill bill review, can't wait!

Lost Johnny

a dog’s purpose was unironically one of my favorite books as a kid and i cried gallons over it. scared to revisit it tbh

Taylor

I am also secretly hoping for a Dinsey+ video. But i hope for a lot of Jenny content and there are only so many hrs in the day so *makes what are you gonna do face*

Bree

Jenny I love pretty much all of your content. It's always fun to watch/listen to. But I would love if you did more of your longer, essay format videos. I am really looking forward to Star Wars Land Part 2: Electric Choo Choo. Buzzy and your other similar videos are like the cream of the youtube crop. I hope you still have interest in making those.

Bree

Tangled the cartoon movie? That movie is great! What do you have against it? The Tangled series is great too, watching it now on Disney+. Way better than it needed to be, to be a series for kids.

Bree

Do the Disney plus video for patreon

Clarissa

Jenny, if you’re looking for good content to read, there’s a whole subgenre on Wattpad of girls being adopted by Taylor Swift. They’re all seriously a trip.

George N

Like everyone else, I think Cats is gonna be hilarious, but I feel like all the dancing and singing might be too good to make fun of

Sordahon

I'd like to recommend a movie to watch because for me it really did define an age, 1976, Bad News Bears with Walter Matthau. Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 97%. I don't think you will ever see another movie made like it again, we've lost the ability.

Brian L Hughes

I like angry mop in that above link..... Where I grew up we had black widows and I liked them, I kept my distance of course. Snakes on the other hand, we had rattlers and I was afraid of stepping on one that was sleeping. I used to stay out of the countryside during summer.

lol I DO want a sequel to Jeff the killer, or a new fanfic. I also want the video of the twilight knockoff thing you mentioned. im down for anything tho. just throwing it out there.

Creamer

"you know what comes out in December..." CATS!

F W Pancakes

Jenny, have you watched the movie Itsy Bitsy?

CometTail

Thank you for this, and happy holidays! :) P.S. For any horse-lovers out there, the first episode of the "Dickinson" TV series features a couple appearances by ghost horses (pulling Death's carriage), and I thought they looked really cool. They didn't come back in any of the other eps I've seen though...

Dee Crosier

My best friend from university took his childhood stuffed cat, Leonard, with him. He was on the football/soccer team full of full-blown lads who were absolutely merciless with each other. Leonard became their treasured mascot. Went to every game and accompanied them on every night out. Everyone in the club wanted a chance to pet Leonard. Ended up as honorary manager and lifelong man of the match.

And "the long con," but aren't those what fill *everybody's* waking thoughts?

Steve Ray

I think you mention "the perfect crime" a lot but I don't even know if that's a thing

Pj Martin

I always thought your obsession with spiders was weird, but this ramble reminded me I used to own this game with colorful plush spiders connected to elastic bands and you had to catch bug-shaped cards with velcros for points, and I genuinely liked it as a little girl. I don't know how to feel about this.

Mariayuri Kumagae

Yes, protect the spider! I still have a teddy bear from when I was a week old and I would never have taken him to a dorm

Lauren Bromberg

PS For any snake fans desirous of additional snake content here is an excellent snake impression 🐍 https://youtu.be/TJGm8Sj7Qn8?t=4996

Shred Cadmium

The movie in December is Cats, right? Yeah, it’s Cats.

Alive_in_tucson

🤔 Maybe a brutal takedown of Tangled?...

Shred Cadmium

Before There Make there were the prophetic Adventures of Darging Do… 🐍🐴 https://youtu.be/3bWR-WkwOBo

Shred Cadmium

Jenny, worms are studied SO MUCH

Tabea Zeltner

Something tells me there make be snakes in this video

Mtthw

Great ramble, fun wig, and I am very on board for a Dog's Purpose video. Haven't seen the movies but got the start of a trailer for one of them in a YouTube ad once and found the premise quite... Um... Well, when the reveal of it as a video topic happened I was like "yeah that makes so much sense".

Shaun Cheah

Everyone's collecting spiders that were displaced by the new elementary school, meanwhile Jenny's like "I liked spiders when they were still underground"

Bryan Sutton

Cool anecdotes and good ramble! As a child I was deathly afraid of spiders especially after going on a field trip in the Berkeley hills and my class volunteered me to pet the tarantula and the guy was like "be careful they shoot hair out of their abdomens if startled" and then showed me the horrible rash on his neck where he got hit after the last class was too noisy.

Recurring Themes That Could Have Been Covered: 1. Numbered Lists

Steve Ray

"Explain why you mention things!" gives me second hand anxiety, so making 20 minutes of answering that entertaining is appreciated!

Neil Dutton

I was extremely amused and thought of you when The Knight Before Christmas name dropped Aldovia as a real location and functionally inserted itself into the apparent Netflix Christmas cinematic universe that now exists. A phrase I did not think I'd ever utter but here we are in 2019. Looking forward to your thoughts on Frozen 2 and that Star Wars movie, I Guess. ;)

Tracey Barch

Jenny have you considered making the movie commentaries a regular thing? The Solo one was so fun and I think most of us would love if they could be a monthly thing!

Eric MacMillan

Staying on topic is a very low concern in any ramble, but especially one where the topic is “things that are off-topic”
