i like when you tell stories about your life! we both went to a private catholic school despite not being catholic, so i feel you. mine was probably much bigger tho (DePaul in Chicago). luckily our required religious course could be ANY religious course, not just catholic themed. there was also a cult right off campus that had rumors of students getting abducted.
our creepy statue was called "giant hands man" or "baby crusher hands" because his hands were like 1/3rd the size of his overall body lol.

If you had grown up Catholic, then you would have heard all of the stories over and over again over the years, in church and Catholic school classes. If not, you would probably have a lot of catch-up reading to do for a course like that. The teacher might have thought that non-Catholics took the course just to coast, and wouldn't be prepared for the extra workload. It probably wasn't a personal thing.

I think it's very on brand that you lead the charge into the catacombs, then lead the charge TF outta there.

So a haunted college has samples of your blood and a map of your brain? The catacombs are definitely filled with Jenny clones, that we are only safe from because they are all terrible at archery.

Did anyone else watch the movie Us (by Jordan Peele)? Because I’m not so sure if this Jenny is the real Jenny or her doppelganger. The construction of her school, with the underground tunnels and facilities that are “twin of the school”, and even urban legends about students getting lost down there and going mad...This is the exact setting of Us. And “Jenny” just said she had been down there before.

Creative Writing BFA here. Basically, the best part of any writing degree is the workshop experience. Feedback is priceless, especially when it's from people who care about the craft as much as you do. It can enrich your writing a lot; but, it's not necessary to write in general, like you said. Do what feels right, man.

Hi, I'm kinda late to the Patreon party, but I'm loving the rambles I've watched so far (and “Twilight: The Musical” too!). Sorry this comment is so long (and, yes, rambling), but your question kinda struck a nerve…
I graduated with a creative writing and literature-based degree back in the late 90s, and no I haven't really “used” it yet. For some reason I was insane/naive enough to think there was some sort of career ladder for writers... like, I'd get my degree and then apply to the BBC, and hey-presto I’d have a hit sitcom on TV! That is very much not how it works.
Luckily, this was back in the mythical days when students here in the UK were actually *given* free grant money to study, rather than having to pay tuition fees themselves, so I certainly didn’t lose anything by going (and really enjoyed the experience, both on and off campus)… but I don’t think I really learned anything about writing that couldn’t be gained from repeated practice and “how to” books either. A college friend of mine went into teaching English, but I just ended up stuck in dead-end manual jobs, because writing’s basically all I want to do (even if nobody ever reads my work), and I can’t dredge up any enthusiasm for any other “career”.
I wish I could have predicted how many new avenues for expression the internet was going to open up, and prepared accordingly… all those years I wasted typing/posting scripts into an uncaring void, when I could have been honing my prose to self-publish novels, or my doodling to make webcomics! Ack!
Anyhoo, for what it's worth, you're one of my favourite presenters/critics across any medium, so it's crazy to me that convention/exhibition organisers aren’t chasing you to attend their events! Haven’t they seen the “My Little Pony Movie Premiere” video!? That was frickin’ adorable!

I have a bachelor's in English with a Writing Emphasis I got in 2015, and no, I haven't used it for anything professional. I never even picked up my degree, it's just still sitting in a file cabinet somewhere on campus. I just needed a 4yr degree in SOMETHING, as do we all, and I figured I may as well get it in something I enjoyed. I'm sure my fic readers appreciate the Absolutely Zero Impact it had on my writing.

Haunted catacombs? Robed midnight woodland gatherings around dilapidated religious iconography? Spontaneous trips to various spooky locations?
So Jenny's just a horror movie protagonist whose time hasn't come yet, right?
