2019-01-14 18:00:45 +0000 UTCBe careful what you wish for, or we'll be watching the Jenny Cascading Style Guide before 2020.

2019-01-14 03:13:44 +0000 UTCI'm wondering if a phraseology change might help. <a href="https://www.patreon.com/posts/april-ramble-18601747">Ranking the Disney Princesses</a> was one of the last rambles I watched when I joined as new supporter last year, because I thought Disney princesses would hold little interest for me. Couldn’t even have named more than three! But it is one of the most interesting rambles (in a very crowded field), going into history, personal history, effective characterization & narrative and all obviously delivered with the familiar enthusiasm, heart, comedy & funny accents. So rather than specifying a Top 10/Bottom 5 format, how about just ‘Ranking the Disney Sidekicks’? I had to doublecheck, but they seem to be almost all animals anyway, so the change shouldn’t upset the mighty ATC <i>too</i> much (😰…), might allow a little more flexibility, and would hearken back to one of the greats of Rambles Past. Just a thought, anyway. Might not help, but at least shouldn’t hurt!

2019-01-10 22:19:14 +0000 UTCI'd be quite into Pokemon, especially as you've just played the Switch game. But also Into The Spider-Verse because I think it ended up being my favourite movie of last year (except Infinity War, maybe?)

2019-01-09 20:45:45 +0000 UTCIf it takes someone 2 hours to explain html they’re doing their job wrong. There’s a finite number of tags. You know what there’s not a finite number of? Opinions on quick romances.

2019-01-09 00:47:13 +0000 UTCditto on that. caveat; i'm not a star wars fan, but jenny has a knack for tackling subjects i have no vested interest in, and making them fun and fascinating to hear about... that's her true talent. i had no real interest in theme parks before, but now i want to go visit at least one when i drive cross-country later this year, and it's all because of her. her enthusiasm for the things she loves in her life is what made me join her patreon. you all can condemn me now for not being a star wars fan. 😜
anthony grey
2019-01-08 03:45:57 +0000 UTCHonestly, Jenny could explain HTML for 2 hours and I'd still be interested.
2019-01-08 02:04:20 +0000 UTC@Eric: Unless you're foolish enough to publicly identify yourself with a given topic, nobody knows who submitted it, so how bad can it sting? Also, heckling is clear feedback and helps folks learn what sells.
Steve Ray
2019-01-07 06:23:30 +0000 UTC@Gerald: The best thing to do with poor sports is repay salt with salt and *taunt them* when they lose! That will either teach them manners, build their character, or fire them up for the rematch. Everybody wins!

2019-01-07 06:16:18 +0000 UTCIn all the rough-and-tumble of Ramble polling, no matter how venomous the pre-vote rhetoric has gotten, I don't think anyone has ever complained about the Rambles we finally receive.
Steve Ray
2019-01-07 06:12:54 +0000 UTCI don't mean to split the difference but I agree Eric and Steve. Jenny reminds me a guy I work with where you give him any topic and he can give an interesting and usually funny "take" on the topic. I think the topic is less important than Jenny's interest in the topic and her commitment to make a good product (postponing and canceling videos). I have subscribed to a more "famous" person on this site that totally "mails in" the patreon video and her subscription count reflects it. She has done TV and has a podcast and Jenny just blew past her user count because Jenny just makes a better product. I agree with Eric also because I do fear what the complaining does to her. The Jack the Killer example comes to mind, through complains I think she feels some pressure to put it out but she doesn't want to put out a sub-par product. I know the complains and negativity are the minority but human nature usually amplifies it. I really hope it doesn't burn her out.

2019-01-07 03:24:57 +0000 UTCi wouldn't call the Year in Review topic boring, but just kinda mundane. everyone does a year end list of *something*... heck, i did one of my top 5 albums for the record store i work at. i'm sure jenny can make such a average topic fascinating and fun to watch, but i'm more interested in the other topics. and hearing her spiel on romance in film, away from her channel, sounds more fun.
anthony grey
2019-01-07 01:19:12 +0000 UTCWell I'll just reiterate that I don' think its great to refer to the topics you don't like as boring. Not just for Jenny's sake, but also because someone paid to be a top tier patron to suggest it. I know I myself get a little anxious over the topics I suggest because I'm afraid others wont like them. Calling someone else's suggestion boring just seems mean. Again, you can talk about which topic you like without being insulting to the others. Just my 2 cents.

2019-01-06 23:56:59 +0000 UTCEh, don't let a few salty comments get to you, there's nothing you or I can do about poor sports. Some people want ramble content similar to her public channel, others are here for Jenny herself.
2019-01-06 23:42:59 +0000 UTCNo, Jenny didn't think of *herself* as a style expert, and thus had some anxiety about whether her observations would be interesting. Our Hostess has zero problems being utterly fascinating when describing [RUN-OF-THE-MILL] things; if anything, we are setting ourselves up for a little roasting by an open fire by making such a [COMMONPLACE] request, so SWITCH NOW to Overly Quick Romance!
Steve Ray
2019-01-06 23:40:21 +0000 UTCIt wasn't my topic suggestion, but it bums me out to see people saying the year in review topic is boring. Jenny kept delaying last months ramble specifically because she was anxious that we might find it boring, and now I'm worried people are going to give her that same anxiety for this video. I'm not saying don't discuss what topics you want to win, but I just wish we could do it in a way that doesn't insult the other topics by saying they are boring, especially now that we know this is something that Jenny has anxiety about.
Eric MacMillan
2019-01-06 22:01:16 +0000 UTCFair enough, fair enough, Sean...and it's true, most of our victories have been in creating the pro-animal Zeitgeist where Jenny knew she could make the Beastly, Rating Every Porg, and Pandora videos, confident of receiving Patreon support instead of a cold shoulder...and of course, the dark victory of the Dark Ritual.
Steve Ray
2019-01-06 21:26:05 +0000 UTCSteve Ray I just want to crack a few jokes and reminisce about days of old and the next thing I know I wearing a powdered wig and holding a gavel.... YOU ARE GOOD! But alas my new job takes me on the road and I no longer have time to lead the ATC... furthermore, as cute as the animals may be, my heart remains with the horses. And, with my horses properly named, most of the turmoil in my life has faded into the past. I am satisfied watching you carry the torch. Carry on my brother! Speak for those who cannot! Give the animals a voice!

2019-01-06 20:12:31 +0000 UTCstill just a hair behind... *crossed fingers for a surge of votes*

2019-01-06 04:27:52 +0000 UTCI loved Spider-Verse but I'd like to get Jenny's take on it since I'm a lazy surface level thinker on/of films.

2019-01-06 02:54:43 +0000 UTC'Thoughts on romance in stories' is catching up! - albeit not <i>overly</i> quickly, ironically enough 📖💝💨

2019-01-05 15:36:58 +0000 UTCAccording to Dr. Z's theory, "the most quickly overrated romance in screenplays" would be the true winner of December.
Steve Ray
2019-01-05 14:03:23 +0000 UTCBut what about the overrated directors who force quick romance into their movies?

2019-01-04 21:02:33 +0000 UTCAs part of the horse-naming mob, did you stick around and then vote for the future animal topics, as per the charter? Or, having enjoyed the horse names with everyone else, did you then sneak away, leaving spilled drinks and dirty dishes everywhere, and vote pell-mell for whatever looked fun that month? It sounds like you are ready to step in as leader of the ATC for 2019, and show us how to win those Rambles.
Steve Ray
2019-01-04 08:36:12 +0000 UTCBrand new patreon here! I have a weird curiosity for hearing people thoughts on what they perceive as overrated so I really hope the overrated directors video wins!
Aubrey Nyberg
2019-01-04 03:39:52 +0000 UTCAs part of the horse naming mob I have watched Steve Ray turn every ramble not into ATC victory. I feel I am sitting at the feet of a master. How does it work for this month? Sidekicks, check! Cats, check! Pokemon, check (I guess)? But what about Spiderman? 50/50? Or do we just wait to see how close the vote is and making a judgment call at the end of the month? 🤣
Sean Kelly
2019-01-04 03:21:43 +0000 UTCGood topics, you topic suggestions types! I voted, but any of those other topics (except :whispering: that year review one) look like good ramble hay.

2019-01-04 02:38:06 +0000 UTCWord...we just *did* 2018, so how about a 1918 year in review? Wait, Peter Jackson just released that...NVM.

QuailMan420
2019-01-03 15:15:28 +0000 UTCalso rooting for wreck-it ralph 1 & 2, thought i don't think it has a chance. it has some pretty sharp jokes aimed at disney, which i think jenny could appreciate.
anthony grey
2019-01-03 14:08:53 +0000 UTCi'm rooting for Thoughts on overly quick romance in stories. it seems like a pretty rich topic to mine, though i'd love to hear jenny ramble for a while about cats... that would be a fun video.
anthony grey
2019-01-03 14:05:12 +0000 UTClike in romcoms, where people fall head-over-heels instantly.

2019-01-03 12:32:13 +0000 UTCIf you're looking for a new voting system, I think that the best way to handle things like this is to have everybody rank their favorite to their least favorite, with (in this case) 8 points going to their favorite, and 1 going to their least. Then you can tally up which has the most points to figure out the most liked.
Marigold Lloyd Cameron
2019-01-03 12:24:25 +0000 UTCI just really like listening to people talk about how Spider-Verse may have resonated with them tbh. It feels like everyone I talk to has a different aspect they point to first, just because it’s all so wonderfully done
