25 Knights of Ren Theories

New video is up!

25 Knights of Ren Theories

Comments

Jenny Nicholson, today I got stuck in a small town in Delaware and had no choice but to take lunch at Mickey Dee's. I went in there and asked for the best damn happy meal they have. And do you know, when I opened it up, there was a My Little Pony figure right there on top of my cheeseburger, pretty as you please. Are you hep to those?

Tom Bowling

I thought they were a group of committed ornithologists blessed by the queen with a passion for small New World songbirds?

T. Fazekas

Apparently, we are Venom as well. And since I just went there, is anyone else stoked to see Venom? I'm a little bummed that there's no Spider-Man reference but it still looks like lots of fun!

Tom Bowling

We're also Spartacus.

Greg McDaniel

And we're Poppy.

Steve Ray

We are the Knights of Ren. Oh, and we're Negan too. It's complicated.

Tom Bowling

Maybe its not the "Knights of Ren" but instead its the "Nights of Ren" and Snoke is just talking about when he tucks Kylo in for beddy bye. "Who's a big boy!? Who's a master of the night, Ren?"

The Knights of Ren were wiped out in an epic battle with the evenly matched Knights of Stimpy. There were no survivors.

John Friedrich

Back in the 90s, I had roommates. I couldn't wait to have a place to myself. Now I do and I miss the company. The moral, folks are never satisfied.

Tom Bowling

The Knights of Ren are Ben and Luke Knight of Ren, Idaho, purveyors of the top selling Kia dealership in the state VIII years running. Slayers of the high percentage financing dragon!

Bill Holt

I really stopped watching after RW LA. Couldn't finish RW SF.

Blue Corn

LOL! You mean you didn't tune in to see the latest idiotic thing Puck was up to on The Real World?

Tom Bowling

At one point, it was the only reason to watch MTV

Blue Corn

Well, shoot! If you're a Maxx fan then anything you say is gold with me! It has been a pleasure!

Tom Bowling

No, but I recognized your name. That's why I brought it up to prove I'm an old dog rather than a youngling.

Blue Corn

Do I know you? I wrote a Maxx story when Sam Kieth was ill one time. I did, "The Trouble With Julie Gone." It's funny you should bring him up.

Tom Bowling

Thanks for the response. I see no problem to "agree to disagree" on topics such as films like Star Wars. Keep in mind I'm an old dog myself, and kept up with stuff like The Maxx back in the good ol' 90s.

Blue Corn

#1 and #2, I forgot about Luke's apprentices. But did he just leave into exile ignoring the people his nephew took?

Blue Corn, please forgive me. I just realized that I now sound like the old grouch. Please know that nothing I wrote was out of any kind of animosity towards you. You're an intelligent fan and you are not wrong. We're just looking at things from two different vantage points. I really need to get used to the fact that a new generation now holds the reins of the Star Wars IP. And if they want to use it to drive home social issues to fans, that's entirely their privilege. Who am I to say different? Maybe I should just wait and see how Episode Nine plays out. It may change my mind. I hope in the future you will see me as a friend on this forum.

Tom Bowling

Anakin Skywalker wasn't a villain. Darth Vader was. I see a clear distinction but, hey, maybe not everyone sees it that way. You kind of misunderstand what I think Luke should be. I don't see him as a homicidal, loudmouth braggart. I see him more as a hero who's done amazing things and carries those deeds with a quiet confidence. For a good example, check out Yul Brynner's character, Chris Larabee Adams, in The Magnificent Seven (1960), if you have not already seen it. He doesn't need to make himself look like a badass. He already is and the galaxy knows it. He's not slicing and dicing. He's taking down the bad guys. Star Wars is not a social statement. It's high adventure and it's supposed to be fun. At least that's how it was when I worked for Lucasfilm.

Tom Bowling

Um, Anakin was the guy we're not suppose to emulate. The movies made that clear. So much so, that the VILLAIN of the current trilogy, Kylo Ren, is the one trying to emulate him. It's good that Luke took more after his mentors Obi Wan and Yoda instead. Even though Jenny jokes about it, her #1 theory is most likely the right answer. I don't see Luke slicing and dicing his former students just to make himself look badass in front of Kylo. JMO

Blue Corn

You have a very valid point but this is space opera, with larger than life heroes and villains. Say what you want about Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker but the dude had swagger and knew how to use it. That's part of the space opera hero. Luke should have at least just a little of that. "I'm Luke freakin' Skywalker, destroyer of the Death Star, vanquisher of Darth Vader, and nobody pushes my friends around." The Last Jedi is where they should have dropped the Knights of Ren. They should have got five or six of the baddest, meanest looking Dark Side em-effers they could find. And Luke should have gone up against them solo, Miyamoto Musashi style. Yeah, there would be moments when we think they will get the better of Luke but he comes through like a boss, taking them all out. Kylo Ren is the only one left. He's down on his knees, shocked by what he just witnessed. The mighty Knights of Ren have just been taken out by a single Jedi. Luke tosses him his lightsaber and gives him some bravado speech about just schooling Kylo Ren in the power of the good side of the Force. Luke ends the lesson by calling him, "Ben," and just turns his back and walks away. Next movie, Kylo plots his revenge.

Tom Bowling

The Knights of Ren is a board game Snoke, Hux and Kylo play on family game night and Kylo always wins.

Chalko

But he went out like a true Jedi Master is suppose to. Keep in mind the Prequel Jedi were hypocrites who, while organized and ultimately powerful "force soldiers", became what the message of the Jedi was never suppose to be. Only at the end of the PT did Yoda realize this. Luke went out like a true Master who achieves self-actualization in the force.

Blue Corn

You know what I mean. I wanted him out there in the action. He griped on a planet most of the movie and, when he did show up, he was a stinking Force projection. He faded away, sitting in the lotus position, on a planet light years away from the actual battle. I wanted more. Again, sorry.

Tom Bowling

Um....he did go out in glory, saving the Resistance survivors. He went out better than Obi Wan, Han and especially Yoda did.

Blue Corn

Well, whoever they are, we're probably going to disappointed. That seems to be the thing with this trilogy. I know I'm going to catch hell for this but I wanted to see Luke Skywalker go on one last glorious space opera adventure. Kill him off if you want but have him go out in a heroic blaze of glory. When I say this to fellow Star Wars fans, I always get the same response, "That would be too obvious and trite." Sometimes obvious is the right way to go though. We didn't get the swashbuckling son of Anakin Skywalker. We got the mean, bitter nephew of Owen Lars. It totally sucks! Sorry but I had to get that off my chest.

Tom Bowling

Knights of Ren is actually short for The Knights of Renaissance. And what we saw in the Force vision, was their annual week long get together festival. The guy Kylo stabbed? He didn't wear the right costume. Ben's got no time for imprecise cosplay.

Blue Corn

Thanks so much for making them! I didn't know until this week that opening up audience contributions for subtitles was a thing I could do. I'll have to go back and switch it on for my older videos.!

Jenny Nicholson

I had to google the spelling of a bunch of fucked up star wars names to do these subtitles - what is wrong with the entire star wars universe. Unkar Plutt is in my search history forever now.

Jacqui Sutherland

Love the new video! I have subtitled it through the community contributions. I've been watching some good videos about audience outreach and subtitling on youtube - subtitling and captions can help increase your audience by a huge amount - jessica kellgren-fozzard has some great videos on captioning youtube videos. Hope this helps you out!

Jacqui Sutherland

I especially dig the sleeves on that Star Wars shirt. Does it come in red? Black makes me look washed-out.

Tom Bowling

The Knights of Ren is an arcade fighting game. Kylo was really good at it and named himself after it. His high score was better than Snoke's.

superb lobster

They just don't have the word "owner" in star wars universe. Dexter Jettster is master of his diner

Jenny Nicholson

Actually, the Nights of Ren is Kylo's nightclub, and Master sounds cooler than owner.

Greg McDaniel

The list just got funnier and funnier :) Also the numbers were a nice little touch.

Luis

"It's a Tuesday."

Blue Corn

Extra Extra 10 Ben Bonus Knights!!

Steve Ray
