Going to be a full few days videos-wise.

Top 10 Lame Things To Do At Disney World

Comments

When I went with my family in high school, there was some little building where you could sample sodas from around the world in little paper cups. I don't even like soda much but it was fun running around to each station with my siblings and parents and rating the sodas together.

Anika

Only ever been to Disney world once. I was 7. As an adult I tried desperately to dig through faint memories to recall what that *amazing* ride was. I would describe it to Disney fans as the history traveling ride where your car goes up and back down. No one could tell me. Can now confirm it was Spaceship Earth. I was a lame 7 year old.

Emily Herrmann

No oil rigs, no(ne of my) patronage!

Samuel Roberts

I'm going to do all of these things when I go to Disney World in June!

zombryn

My favorite lame thing was Maelstrom in Norway at Epcot... I refuse to ride Frozen Ever After, because it fails to capture the seafaring Norwegian work ethic.

AndyofCT

The frito kid is actually one of the most mysterious features of old Disneyland. I remember for years nobody could figure out exactly where his storefront was, and people on message boards were desperately scrutinizing and circling sections of old exterior photos, circling an area of shade under a porch like "is that shape the curve of Frito Kid's arm in the shop?!"

Jenny Nicholson

A long gone favorite of mine was the Frito Kid in Frontier Land. I'd put money in the slot and the Frito Kid would tell the people in the mine to send down a bag of Fritos. Then a small bag of Fritos would come out of the mine, down a chute, and land in front of me. I didn't care about the Fritos, just the show.

P.S. Jenny: I don't know if this is just for where I am in the world (and goodness knows how the algorithm works), but according to YouTube, this video is currently number 2 on trending. :D

Young_Scott

Yes! I forgot that there was a separate resort(s?) within the Boardwalk. There is some kind of fancy ice cream place in there as well. And I'm now remembering the weird Disney themed country club store. I think I almost bought a mug there. Good times.

Sarah Matthews

Jenny never fails to surprise. I never thought I'd hear "Dame Judy Dench has the voice of an angel" in any video. Of course she's not wrong.

The sand bottom pool rings a bell. Was it in front of Beach Club Resort/Inn? I remember it being near some kind of pirate ship water park thing. I think I stayed in a couple of the hotels around that... Lake? Gosh, it's been a minute.

Alex W

My family and I do the jungle cruise so often that we have to clench our teeth so as not to finish the punchline to EVERY awful pun

Rickard Baratheon

No Porgs?

1000thghost

Hooray.

Next video!

Jenny Nicholson

Yes but the question I was asking was whether Jenny had worked with or in theme parks since her interest in them seemed more than an interested amateur. That's all.

Alex Woodcock-Clarke

Are you gonna review Ready Player One? I thought it was somehow as bad maybe worse than the book.

Trevor White

If the razor is really sharp it takes ages to heal, and they also scar up easily. A few years ago I dropped my razor on my foot, and have a scar that looks like a pause button where it broke on impact

Joe Robinson

I forgot about Boardwalk! When I was really little, maybe three, my family snuck into their pool. The pool has (had?) sand on the bottom. I think Boardwalk is where some of the Full House Disney episode was filmed my cousin made a big deal about drinking from the same water fountain Uncle Jesse drank from (I was older than three). My best memories from Disney are from resort hopping. It's free and fun!

Sarah Matthews

I'd love to see you one day visit one of the famous abandoned theme parks around the US. You could turn it into your 'Creepypasta Adventure'. Anyway, keep up the good work!

Alex Woodcock-Clarke

Owwwww... Rogue Razor.

Bill Lehecka

I finally went out to Fort Wilderness for the first time this trip! I had been aware of it but had never realized how big it was. I actually wished we'd planned a day to resort hop, because so many of them are so cool. I particularly have been meaning to go see Boardwalk

Jenny Nicholson

It's not you, the switch only gets flipped as part of the Merlin show. Well, it used to be Merlin. This trip I actually saw the show, Disney World still does it, but now it's just two people in nondescript medieval garb. Disneyland as of a few years ago never does the show anymore, and I know from making a lot of phone calls around the resort when I was still working there that on an average day there isn't even someone there who remembers how to run the switch

Jenny Nicholson

Look I still don't know how I did it but I was shaving my leg and the razor slipped and cut really deeply into the side of my hand, it only healed completely like a few days ago, I don't get it either

Jenny Nicholson

I wish I got paid to go, but no. However a lot of my friends still work at Disneyland and Disney World and cast members get heavily discounted rooms on both coasts, and can sign friends into the parks for free. So it was a very cheap trip for me with only the flight being full price

Jenny Nicholson

The animals are my favorite thing in Disney World because they are all really off. My oldest sister and cousin got attacked by a squirrel there once. I haven't been to Disney in a while, but we used to go camping at Fort Wilderness. We didn't always go into the parks so most of the fun stuff for us was free. I liked riding the busses, going to different resorts for meals, and riding the monorails when they weren't packed with people because you could run around and sit on that little medium. I liked going to the Contemporary for lunch because they had awesome Chili Dogs, those Mickey rice krispie treats covered in chocolate, and you could watch Disney tv shows while you ate. We didn't have cable so I vividly remember watching Bonkers and it was the best. One year we had a laser pointer so we went to the roof of the hotel and shined it down on the ground. I remember exploring the conference or ballroom area of the hotel and stealing the little note pads by the phones. The music at the hotel was always smooth jazz so I get very nostalgic when I hear smooth jazz. I can't remember if it was the Contemporary that had the revolving doors, but my middle sister and cousin used to trap me in them. Apparently my family is going back to Disney World this Christmas. Hopefully I can get my oldest niece to go do some random exploring with me.

Sarah Matthews

My vacations are exclusively doing lame things! At some point in Disneyland/world I just need to sit down for a bit. Thanks for the list!

Alive_in_tucson

Orange Bird has an interesting story! he was basically a collabo between Florida orange growers and the Disney Company for the purposes of selling Florida oranges, and through a series of convoluted events he’s had a huge comeback and developed a big fan following in the past decade or so

Andrew Kornfeld

I like trying to pull the sword out of the stone behind the castle. Apparently the men behind the curtain can pull the switch and a random kid will be able to pull the sword up a few more inches than normal, but apparently I don't qualify as royalty.

John Friedrich

I've only been to Disney World twice, but one of my favorite memories is the fact that on the second trip my mom heavily researched when to visit and picked one of the lowest-crowd days possible and had us leave the hotel so early in the morning that we were literally the first car parked at Magic Kingdom. Four guys waved us into our parking spot. There was no music or anything on at the gates yet. When we did get in, we did Peter Pan's Flight near the beginning and since there were still no lines we ran through the line area and did it again instantly. The older I get the more ridiculous this story seems.

R.G. Nairam

Umm, on Patreon, sending a message to someone whose videos I follow and who visits theme parks a lot? Is that a problem?

Alex Woodcock-Clarke

Oh wow! That’s what the orange bird was! I was in Disneyland and there was orange bird stuff everywhere and no one could tell me what it was. Like, the lady on the store told me, “Yeah... I think it’s a disneyworld thing?”

Catherine Escobar

Is there actually going to be a Universal Studios video or was that just a jab at the end?

Alex, where do you think you are?

dipique

My brother and his girlfriend went to WDW, though, and had a wonderful time. I must send this to them.

Stuart Payne

Do you get paid to go to these theme parks? (No, this is not some passive-aggressive 'shill' accusation, I am just interested to know if this is a job or a pleasure for you).

Alex Woodcock-Clarke

I too enjoy the People Mover very much. On the other hand, the Carousel of Progress has a body count and is more risky than one would think.

Mister CPU

What happened to your hand? Hopefully it wasn’t too serious.

Bill Lehecka

I’ve never been to WDW or any Disney Parks but I like watching videos about them. (And other theme parks, too, like Parc Astérix and Efteling. Screen Junkies should send you on a European tour.) Actually, I’m not sure I’ve been to anything that counts as a theme park except when I was very small and still in New Zealand and visited Fantasyland: https://www.flickr.com/photos/23778385@N07/sets/72157623236444172/ That counts, right? That definitely counts.

Stuart Payne

I've never been at a huge theme park like Disney World. As kid I was at a mini theme park, which was more like an elaborate play ground where you had to move the attractions with your own labour like tea cups with a wheele inside you had to spin to make you spin. And there was also a version of a "people mover" that took you on a rail above the playground through a small course, but you also had to move it yourself with two pedals. I found it really awesome coz I was in some kind of dragon/dinosaur thingy flying over all the other kids and it was also super adventerous coz I wasn't able to get off it until I finnished the course and If I'd run out of stamina I might not make it! In reality this thing of course was super slow not very high and a very short course and I sucked at pedaling xD But this is the lamest attraction I had the most fun with :D

Bloody Awesome Media

Wait the people mover is lame? Does that make me lame for loving it? No. That can't be... Have I always been lame? I have to go re think my definition of cool.

Kevin Kawa

Jenny, I've been on two trips to Disney World in my life: once at 6 years old (1993); and again at 16 years old (2003). And I can honestly say that like 5 or 6 of your top 10 "lame" things are my most memorable moments from those trips, *especially* the Carousel of Progress, the People Mover (I may have rode the WEDWay one?) and that line to the ride inside Space Mountain. Heck, I don't even remember the ride itself, but I recognised those moody hallways instantly! Aren't there also some restaurants around there? And you won't hear me listing any of the coasters in Orlando as my favourite attractions, but then again, I was also tricked onto Thunder Mountain (father quote: "a gentle train ride") at six years old and thus developed a phobia of them. :P (That first Disney World trip in '93 was absolutely magical, for many reasons: it was November (and thus there were no lines anywhere); I was six; we stayed in a neon-lit hotel on International Drive, where I had access to a Nintendo Play Choice 10 and rentals of Aladdin and Mickey's Christmas Carol; and most importantly, many of the older rides were still there!)

Young_Scott

As a European who spent the morning trying to dig up concrete, the timing of this video is very much welcome!

Joe Robinson

Greetings from Malta my fellow Europeans. I really wish I'd ever been as enthusiastic about anything in my life as Jenny is about these rides.

JK

I don't know *why* Jenny would target European timezones but same Also I'm impressed at how many weird rides exist in Disney World. I've only been to Disneyland Paris and most of the rides there are at least…you know, Disney-themed?

TalysAlankil

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Daniel Stephan

Maybe Jenny is subtly targeting European timezones. It's afternoon here in the UK!

Young_Scott

Ayyy we out here team no sleep

Daniel Stephan
