To be honest, I don't think it's unreasonable for WINGSPANTT to warn Jenny of the negative reaction to this game and that it may affect her brand. What she does with that knowledge is up to her. (If I were her, I'd leave it up. I imagine the fuss will eventually blow over and the experience with working with a big brand is good to have under her belt)

Bucklebob

I can't think of anything other than RLM to compare the b-plot to, so now I just feel uncultured.

Samuel Roberts

It's obviously the foot fetish guy.

I guess I'm the opposite of this guy, I'm happy that you got paid to do a video and managed to make it a Jenny Nicholson video despite it being corporate sponsored. Keep up the good work.

Daniel Fahringer

I don't think I would focus much on any but the simplest games in an open environment like that. Did that play any part in distraction for you?

Dundough Breadbox

You need to pay off that stalker bit!!! No loose plot threads! I'm frickin dying! It's like LOST all over again!

AndyofCT

;c I got my hopes up from the thumbnail that it was a lets play.

John

Thanks for being upfront about this video being sponsored. Always love your videos.

Zero

I don't see how anyone can be upset. You got EA to PAY YOU TO MAKE FUN OF THEM!

Matt Johnson

Did they give you any swag?

Blue Corn

Gamers tend to think their world is much more massive and important than it really is. If something is terrible and controversial to them, they can equate it to being as bad as things that are terrible and controversial in the real world. It's silly and I wish they would just take a step back sometimes. Yes, EA is a crummy company that makes bad products, but it's still an entertainment company. You can just *not consume their product*. If it's actually causing you real-life angst I think you should step back and re-evaluate if it's honestly that important.

Abbygale Mertes

@Bill Haha I feel like that's some kind of legal breach, or at least frowned upon. But most of them are app games if that helps. If you hear that and go "oh I bet it's _____ app game," you've probably guessed right

Jenny Nicholson

Oooh, new video idea: Rejected Sponsorships.

Bill Lehecka

You can't please everybody. Continue to be smart, funny, and good-natured, and your real fans will still support you.

Brandon Blackmoor

I don't think anyone here knows how many high-paying sponsorships I've turned down because they weren't related to the content of my channel. This was the first offer I accepted because it was about Star Wars, I'd played the first Battlefront once and liked it, and people have generally liked past videos where I have an excuse to get out of my apartment. People were even asking me last month if I was going to make a video about Battlefront, before the offer came up. EA was also willing to give me the freedom to talk about what I wanted, and format it how I wanted - they literally just wanted me to talk about the game. I don't really see how I was shilling it, just by making a video making jokes about the story, like I do on all my unsponsored videos.

Jenny Nicholson

Maybe EA is full of Hobbits and they just weren't aware that some people don't have Second Breakfast.

Brianna Ogas

They fed us two breakfasts which was a little weird. I didn't see a single person eat the second breakfast. It just sat there

Jenny Nicholson

That was a genuinely good video, sponsored or not.

Buddy Crotty

The Millennial Falcon-style wave & "Bye!" reminded me how much I miss MF!

Bryan R

Eh. She was asked to make a video about what she played and she did that. Jenny wasn't the one who ordered everything in the game to be locked behind a paywall. Let's remember her point of view, spare her our wrath, and just be happy her channel is getting cool deals like this now.

Ello Asty

I'm going to post the youtube description here, just so everyone sees it. "This video is sponsored by EA Games! Be nice in the comments don’t blow this for me you guys."

The BabaDuck

Man, based on the dough EA makes, if it wasn't delicious, I would be very third-party upset.

Brianna Ogas

Welp, looks like you don't need my money anymore. Have fun shilling without me.

StylishHobo

Can we not destroy her Patreon comment section with this argument. Everything gaming related already won't shut up about it. No one can enjoy anything game related without this whole thing permeating everything. The video is posted, she can't barf up the food they gave her. And since it's sponsored, it's not like she can 'take backsies'. You alerted her, go you! So how about not making her Patreon comment section a discussion platform about this game and its problems. Leave that shit on Reddit and youtube. (edit: I used the wrong "its".)

Brianna Ogas

Great video! Don't listen to the haters. If EA is going to fly you out to play a Star Wars game, of course you have to do it. Whether the game is good or bad or controversial, its still Star Wars and I would have been disappointed to not hear you talk about it. I do need closure on the stalker subplot though! "Mister Patron, you could have saved her. I gave you all the clues."

Can we not what? I'm trying to put this out there so she can make the most informed decision possible. There are dozens of news stories about the PR around this game being a train wreck. She can choose what she wants to do. I don't know what the exact stipulations of her agreement are but everything has a cost. Brandon, it's not hyperbole. The game is drawing massive, unilateral ire. It was the most downvoted content on Reddit by a factor of (not hyperbole) 2,000%. The hate is real. *This video is already more than 20% disliked* due solely to the association. http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/star-wars-battlefront-ii/user-reviews

WINGSPANTT

The comment section is horrid already. Really great video tho, I enjoyed the creepy subplot? Omg

Ellie Kae

I too would like to know what kind of free food they offered. I bet it was delicious.

Bill Lehecka

Way to go on the sponsorship Jenny!

Ello Asty

So.. did they give you good food?

Brianna Ogas

Oh geez. Can we not here? What is she going to do, not post her sponsored video?

Brianna Ogas

What on Earth are you talking about? [edit:] Okay, I looked it up, and apparently the game has some kind fo stupid "loot crate" and/or pay-to-unlock stuff in it, like free to play games do. Which might not be a big deal, if the game were free, but it's not. So, yeah, that's stupid, and I won't be buying it (not that I would have anyway). But "controversial"? "Radioactive"? Hyperbole much?

Brandon Blackmoor

Yeah, that's some creepiness. :(

Brandon Blackmoor

Jenny I'm sure you are aware of this, but Star Wars BF2 is literally the most radioactive consumer product on the planet right now. I know you genuinely meant well but associating your brand with what is quickly becoming the most controversial gaming title in recent memory might not be sound. You don't deserve the backlash that will come with it. Especially since it's sponsored.

WINGSPANTT

Oh, I see: it's a Star Wars game. I was wondering why you would be invited to play some first person shooter video game. "Earth is a surfing planet!" You kill me. :)

Brandon Blackmoor

I am simultaneously intrigued and confused by the stalker subplot of this video. Will there be a conclusion, or are we meant to bask in the horrors of the unknown for all eternity?
