Really digging it so far. Just have some minor hangups with the writing:
You’re too liberal with exclamation points. I get the cutesy vibe it gives your characters, but verbs like mumbling and grumbling don’t match that punctuation.
Also, ‘stoic’ is an overly specific term that doesn’t suit the situations its used in. Try using some broader similes instead.
