In 2005, The Aquabats played an unforgettable live show in a historic venue... a Nike store in Beverly Hills. Oh, you weren't there? Well, we were! But let's revisit the backstory first: In early 2005, Mega64 was given an early copy of The Aquabats' iconic album "CHARGE!!" six months before release in the hopes that an idea could be formed for a Mega64-directed music video.
After listening heavily to the album for weeks, the gang emailed the 'Bats a bunch of concepts. It was decided that a meeting should take place to discuss them... but the band was fairly booked up leading to the album release. So, we met up at a perfectly casual, totally low key... private performance at a Nike store corporate party.
You'll see full performances of "Look At Me, I'm A Winner," one of our all time favorites "Stuck In A Movie," as well as some other gems and nuggets of other classics as the OG Mega64 trio dances along (beside their friend Matt who you may have seen in some old Mega64 episodes).
After the show, some concepts were discussed (particularly involving those specific songs we mentioned, as well a a fleshed-out story based video for the song "Meltdown"), but ultimately never materialized as all promotional respurces were put into a fully produced "Fashion Zombies" video concept with a different director.
