Future Plans + Important-ish rant on the channel

Hey, guys! For those of you who didn't know. I was out at a convention for 4 days (I came back yesterday). Not only did I get to meet some awesome people, I also got to meet some amazing musicians (some of them being the reason I even started a youtube channel). Watching them perform and then hanging with them afterwards started to bring back my creative spark, which you can imagine excited me more than anything.

And then I realized that inspiration/creative sparks should not be forced, because that's how a writer's block can happen. It's also how a lack of motivation can happen. Trying to pump out weekly originals while pushing through writer's block made music-making feel like a chore at times, and that's the last feeling I want to have towards composing. 

This doesn't mean that content will be stopping. I know it looks that way. I decided that I need to rethink the way I work on youtube. Especially when youtube is a site that turns your passion/art into a constantly wavering value. You can be putting in the same amount of sleep-depriving effort, but youtube might decide to demonetize you or not promote it anywhere. On the other hand, the viewers themselves can lose interest in what you do.

Stat numbers can do a lot to someone's head. All of a sudden, you feel like you need to make something to appeal to viewers without thinking about your personal enjoyment towards it. It doesn't help that the channel stats have been sitting on a lower point for the past 2 months. I should be making art for my own satisfaction first before throwing it out there. It's not like I haven't done that, but there are so many "How-To" songs where I feel they could have been vastly improved.

So I have a plan that can possibly fix the stresses that come with doing all of this. It might be a little risky,  but it could either crash or become the next big step in my career as an artist. I never have the time to do song commissions or composer jobs because of weekly youtube nonsense. But then I realized I could do the commissions/composition jobs, upload those originals to youtube with permission, and that way, I'm getting paid for making the song as well as turning into  a "How-To" or something else. I could also shout out the commissioner in the video if their project might seem interesting to the viewers. By doing all of this, it also gives me a reputation outside of youtube. My dream is to compose music for games/anime/etc. I don't want my life to be dictated by youtube. In between that, covers and other things can be used to pad content out.

I probably won't go through with this plan for another 2 months. Life has been incredibly busy and stressful and I'd like to get things under control before trying something new. If I don't upload anything during one of the weeks, you guys will obviously not be charged. That would still apply!

So there. You guys might not notice a huge difference, but it will be a significant change for me. There might not be 4-5 videos EVERY month, but the content might be better and more inspired as a result.

If you read this all the way, thank you all so much for your support. The only reason I'm able to put out so much content is because of you guys. Everyday, this career comes closer to a full-time job. If you told me this was my future 10 years ago, I would have told you it was impossible. Your kind words and everything else mean a lot to me and it has helped me continue what I do for these past few years. Just remember you are not obligated to stay. If you need the money, you are more then free to leave. The fact that you chose to support me even for a little means a lot.

With all that being said, I might just take a break this week. It would be the first in about 4 years, but I just want to take some time to think about my music again. The fun aspect is returning, and I want to keep it this time.
