[#170] GHOSTS OF KYIV: “The Unbinding” and Neopagan Witchcraft in Ukraine, Part Two

Dimitri and Khalid dive further into the fascist neopagan theology lurking beneath the surface of “The Unbinding”

Dimitri and Khalid dive further into the fascist neopagan theology lurking beneath the surface of “The Unbinding”, including: the confusing ritual to liberate Mokosh from Brother Bitum’s religulous curse, Greg Newkirk’s statement about cutting footage of the “far-right…patriarchal, monotheistic“ RUNVira Temple of Oriyana out of the film, the contradictions of telling a pro-woman, pro-witchcraft, pro-compassion story about fascist ethnopaganism, the confused trauma response trend of lapsed American evangelicals embracing “blehhh I’m BAD, hail Satan” rhetoric to own the flagrantly satanic Christian chuds, European Nazi neopagan mercenaries flocking to Croatia in the early ‘90s, Lev Sylenko’s “Maha Vira”, RUNVira’s founding in Chicago and spread to Ukraine in 1991, using neopaganism as a “geopolitical weapon” for the 21st century, Zbigniew Brzezinski’s bizarrely religious 1995 article “A Plan For Europe”, “Les maîtres fous” and the Hauka spirit possession cult in Niger, the materiality of people doing sacrifice rituals to gain worldly power, and how the projections of secular anthropologists tend to distort their interpretations of “supernatural” phenomena and religious rituals.

In the conversation of breaking taboos and gaining power or opening some form of power. I was made to think of Sabbatai Zevi and his movement of breaking down religious laws to gain power through breaking of taboos. I’ve not listened to all the vast material but I don’t remember sabbatai being mentioned. Just a thought i figured I’d add .

In the section where the ultranationalist/neo-nazi adoption of "ancient pre-Christian Slavic religion" was discussed, I believe the book cited was by John-Paul Himka. That's pretty interesting in itself as he is the uncle of our illustrious Deputy PM here in Canada, Christiya Freeland, who certainly has some rather interesting interpretations of 20th century Ukrainian history to say the least. A few years ago, two Ukrainian-Canadian comrades found some papers on her grandfather (Mikael Chomiak) at an archive in Alberta, which added further detail to what was known about his collaboration and seemingly cordial relationship with the murderous General Government of occupied Poland, which Chomiak worked for publishing an incredibly anti-semetic paper hoping to incite further violence. Of course he changed his name somewhat after fleeing with a bunch of emigre fash garbage over to the Americas, and landed in Canada where his ilk collaborated with the honored RCMP and industrialists to crack down on labor and left-wing movements. He was also wanted for apprehension by Poland up until his death, as the paperwork for this was also somewhat recently found in Polish archives, but commies bad so no dice I guess. Anyways Himka has written from what seems to be a left-wing view on his relative after discovering some of this after Chomiak's demise in the 80's, whereas Freeland even up until like 2020 was trying to claim this stuff was disinformatziya ffs. She herself is sus af with reports of being an asset for CSIS during the final years of Soviet Ukraine, other members of her family being consultants on the mass looting aka privatization of the 90's, and her being cited as speaking to the weakness of the Sovietized Ukrainian justifying a new Ukrainian man that rises above and, well, you know does some bastardized Nietzschian sorta shit the fascists love. Yasha Levine (amongst many others by now) has written on this so I won't drone on incessantly.

Hi River, yes I do! I studied this area sort of (biochem) so most of my research comes from that which I don’t still have access to.. but there are lots of books I’m busy with a newborn atm I will reply when I can

Got any good books you recommend?

Anti vaxx as a term of derision? After everything we went through in the last few years? I expect more from a conspiracy pod this area is a huge blind spot for you guys I urge you to look into biosecurity and the long history of dangerous pharmaceuticals and yes vaccines. The idea of vaccines is great in reality the adjuvants that are used (to name but one problem with them in their current form) are not always safe. Tired of this massive area being totally ignored or worse misunderstood by people who should know better in the parapolitical sphere.

good program fr

lol manny-o-war. Manowar is such a funny stupid band that’s more homoerotic than an 80s action movie.
