His begging Arnheid to release him strikes me as a intent to manipulate and control. He's no different from the guests he killed, why do you favor him so heavily over the guests?

Because yeah, despite Thorfinn and Snake apparently having experience as fighters, Thorfinn came out the other end willing to dream of a peaceful future while snake just seems more entrenched in his cynicism
