Found it on DnD Beyond: "Answers are usually brief, cryptic, or repetitive, and the corpse is under no compulsion to offer a truthful answer if you are hostile to it or it recognizes you as an enemy."

2025-11-16 07:59:23 +0000 UTCIt should be noted that the "Speak with Dead" spell doesn't actually force the dead individual to answer truthfully or in a helpful manner. The phrasing is along the lines that the corpse will answer the question the way the individual would've when they were alive. That includes lying or going "I'm not telling you that."

2025-11-16 07:57:31 +0000 UTCWell, technically Mythcarver can reveal other vestiges so if all they need is vestiges, they could have gotten that info without Raishan. Yes, they didn't know specifically that the plate would be helpful, but they could have still stumbled upon it. Also Cabal's Ruin, I wonder why they never grabbed that off of Ripley in the show.

2025-11-11 14:55:09 +0000 UTCSo, the cool thing about the game you guys thought was Catan, it's a board game that was made by Critical Role's game publishing company called Darrington press. It's based off a legendary creature in campaign 2, so I won't divulge the name due to possible spoilers. It was a fun Easter egg though

2025-11-11 05:17:12 +0000 UTCOh yeah since it hasn't been mentioned yet, pretty sure the Grog holding still bit is a reference to the home game back in the Feywild. There was an unused incident there (since in the show Grog never went) where Grog got petrified by pixies and Travis holds a thumbs up pose for almost 10 minutes straight. That's where my mind goes anyway, it was great. (Ep61 for anyone interested)

2025-11-10 23:01:39 +0000 UTCI think an important part of Keyleth's character is that she is meant to be fairly immature as both a person and a leader, and her personal arc is about finding that maturity she is lacking. Her entire interaction with Raishan is fairly immature, it just starts at "She's evil so cannot be trusted in any way" and then rebounds all the way to "She helped us so I'll go apologize since I was wrong and she was trustworthy". Neither of those things was ever true. Keyleth was definitely right not to trust her, because Raishan was never going to be their friend. But Riashan was never offering friendship, just information and a mutual interest in Thordak's death. And Keyleth's open hostility makes the situation really easy for Raishan to manipulate because it forced the conversations to be about yes or no on trust rather than about how much and for how long. It's good stuff and a hard lesson learned. I also think Percy's death also has a really interesting effect on the outcome. He lived in the morally gray, and probably more than anyone else would recognize that the second Thordak is dead Raishan is probably their enemy again.

2025-11-10 22:43:36 +0000 UTCI am so curious how they'll do Scanlan's part in Season 4.
StorytellerDave
2025-11-10 20:34:16 +0000 UTCThey are, Keyleth as a character is very much inspired by Aang (Bo is also pretty clearly inspired by Korra so looking forward to how the MIghty Nein show references that)

2025-11-10 19:13:39 +0000 UTCI really really like Scanlan's story this season and Pike's place in it. Seeing her reach out to Kaylie about how genuine he is in wanting a connection was really sweet. Also, Kaylie asking if they were together and Pike's response was hilarious; Ashley's stuttered voice-acting and Kaylie's expression were too good. π

2025-11-10 19:03:41 +0000 UTCWhite I understand Keyleth's anger it is pretty misplaced. They genuinely wouldn't have gone after the plate that ultimately allowed them to kill Thordak without Raishan's help. She also gave them a lot of info on Thordak's plan and timetable. They never fully trusted her and even fully turned against her when they thought she was responsible for the baby dragon's attacking Whitestone. Did Raishan screw them over? Absolutely. Was it likely their only option to kill the most powerful and dangerous dragon? Most likely. Not to mention most of Keyleth's counter arguments were "There must be another option!" without any actual ideas. Theres a difference between not listening to someone and not going along with what they say.

2025-11-10 18:35:29 +0000 UTCIt's nine more days till the Nein and I am SO freaking excited. I've been watching fan animations on youtube and music videos fans made. There's SO many btw, the Critical Role fanbase is freaking talented I tell ya. If the Vox Machina musical didn't convince you of that, there's so many songs written for the Mighty Nein and animated scenes...it'll be SO cool to see them all in action. There's literally a song called "Comin' are the Nein" but unfortunately it contains spoilers XD

2025-11-10 17:00:13 +0000 UTC"Hell hath no fury like Vex without Percy." Why was that actually a bar, tho? Like, it even rhymed. πππΌ They have a store for the channel, right? Cause I would totally buy that T-shirt. π

2025-11-10 15:43:10 +0000 UTCAll the Avatar parallels in this show feel 100% intentional. The spell Keyleth's trying to learn is just like what Aang and Korra learned in the Swamp: "Everything is connected."

2025-11-10 15:31:25 +0000 UTCYeah, I think it's good character writing as she's in the depths of feeling that betrayal when she leaves, but it's important to note that everyone did agree with her that Raishan couldn't be trusted, they just didn't have another option. Even when asked, Keyleth herself couldn't come up with one a couple of episodes when they were all talking about it.

2025-11-10 15:21:23 +0000 UTCMighty nein will come after hazbin,so there will be episodes already out,it's a breather, plus this season has peak songs

2025-11-10 15:10:19 +0000 UTCHere's the thing about Keyleth's frustrations with her friends: while she was right about Raishan, she also never ONCE offered an alternative.

2025-11-10 15:08:20 +0000 UTCNooo, Hazbin's coming next instead of Castlevania or Mighty Nein π I hope they'll at least watch the teaser for Mighty Nein before the switch.
