Enjoy! Next episode next Monday!

vax's How Do You Want To Do This moment against thordak is one of my favorite moments from the entire campaign and one of the most underrated imo and i was so happy that they did it justice in the animated series

Ellie

Man, the final stand-off against Thordak always gets me teary eyed. From Pike finally mastering the armor to Vax getting the final blow (taken straight from the campaign btw, including the flashback of Vax and Vex's mother, which Liam describes as part of his HDYWTDT). It hits me in the feels every time.

Yeah that change devastated me, I loved Kash And Zarah so much in the campaign Still can't believe they killed him off, but goddam was it not a heartbreakingly beautiful scene with him walking into the Raven Queens embrace

I love how epic this episode is! Just everything about it. Some observations: Percy's death stripped away that plot armor -- to where a lot of reactors didn't even question that Scanlan could die here. It just made this episode so much more epic because the stakes felt very real. My memory is a little fuzzy on this, but I believe the spell Kash used on Thordak with the multiple spears is Spirit Guardians (and yes, that is a unique depiction of that spell). Speaking of spells... This should be prefaced with the fact that Keyleth and her story is very much inspired by the ATLA franchise. Raishan's Blight spell used on Keyleth was intentionally drawn to mirror Zaheer's fatality move -- the orb of air that is bent out of is victim's lungs. The Blight spell is a very powerful and damaging spell and I love how the show gave Keyleth that Korra moment through the spell's portrayal here.

hazbin mondays will go extremily hard ngl,and its perfect for a breahter of critical role media and then going right to the mighty nein

IT'S THERE!! πŸ’₯πŸ₯³πŸ’₯πŸ₯³

I'm dying for the 8x3 mha reaction. Lol

Kacchan BakuGOAT

Yay! Hazbin!

Kacchan BakuGOAT

You're saying there were no character casualties in the original stream? Was Scanlan still knocked out?

HBelmont 24

Regardless if it's for sure coming up next or not, will you at least watch the teaser for Mighty Nein while Vox Machina and Critical Role is fresh in your minds? They also just released the title sequence, which you should check out.

HBelmont 24

Thanks for picking my question. I'm glad it led to such a meaningful discussion. πŸ₯²

HBelmont 24

I feel like if Vox Machina hadn't ended their agreement after the destruction of Whitestone, Raishan might've been less antagonistic once she got what she wanted.

HBelmont 24

This is definitely my favorite episode of season three. So many characters got a moment to shine, and the animators went all out for the fight sequences. I’m so hype for Hazbin Hotel season two, and I already have songs from the new season stuck in my head. Y’all had some of my favorite reactions to it, so I’m happy I can look forward to those reactions after Vox Machina!

jellybrigade

I think the whole "trusting Raishan" thing is interesting because they really were both right and wrong to trust her (or not). Realistically, their plan was going to be a lot more difficult or even just impossible if they didn't align themselves with her. At the same time, she made her agenda very very clear and specific: she wanted Thordak dead. So the second that happened, her interests no longer aligned with Vox Machina and thus there is no longer a reason to trust her. In this case she went right back to being an enemy, but that doesn't mean it was wrong of the group as a whole to trust her while both sides had the same goal. Also iirc Matt said afterwards that they had soured Raishan's opinion of them enough that the decision to help in the final fight was literally last second. To the point where she passed her turn at least once in combat and if she wasn't confident they would win she absolutely would have just helped Thordak massacre them.

Fun fact with the Grog blackout moment. During the actual play Travis would often times forget he’s playing a character with 6 intelligence and help with plans/decisions/things that are beyond Grog. As soon as he realized he was doing it, he’d revert back to 6 intelligence Grog and use the phrase β€œI blacked out for a second what happened”. Cool Easter egg put into the show.

Uscmiller22

it’s in the tuesday slot nowπŸ’”

jolly

From what I've heard, Travis actually has great strategic moments. He just has to preficate them as Grog "blacking out" due to the characters low intelligence. 🀣

HBelmont 24

It was less of a good role and an example of travis (grogs va) having to jump in and make a decision because the group was in decision paralysis

kristianc00

Dang still no MHA....

This episode really shows how much the animation of the show improved each season. It was already really good I mean Whispers at the Ziggurat in S1 is fantastically animated, but just look at the beauty in these shots here, it's gorgeous. I am SO hyped what they'll do in the Mighty Nein with this knowledge, there's some good potential there, between the Magic of Caleb, Fjord and Jester and the athletic shenanigans of Beau, Nott and Molly, it's gonna be beautiful, and I bet brutal too whenever Yasha's involved.

StorytellerDave

Fun/Sad Fact: Cash actually doesn't die in the actual play.

Cam Allred

Kash's death is one of the changes that I love and hate. Hate it cause I love Kash but it really added weight to the losses when fighting Thordak

Z C

Been waiting on this episode for a while ever since I noticed how much you comment on impact frames. They blew their animation budget on this episode.

Port34

Was it going to release all at once? Or one episode or more a week?

HBelmont 24

I beleive mighty nien starts the day after the last episode of Hazbin season 2 releases so it would probably be best to do them in that order

Daran Tung

Season 1 of The Mighty Nein will have at least 6 episodes out before you guys finish Vox Machina season 3. So no worries about getting ahead of it before season 1 ends.

Intergalactic Pants

Between this episode and MHA 8x3 tomorrow, this week's already off to a STRONG start on Patreon! πŸ₯³

HBelmont 24

Probably my favorite moment of the show.

HBelmont 24

What's crazy is that he apparently lived in the original stream. 😡

HBelmont 24

Also, RIP to Kash my favourite side character πŸ™

wanira 11

There's something tragic about Lance Reddick's final line as Thordak being, "I shall return." πŸ˜”

HBelmont 24

I have to say, if you ever wanted to check out how critical role does a campaign but were scared off by the amount of episodes there are, campaign 4 is set in a completely new world with new characters and Brennan Lee Mulligan as dm. (Matt Mercer is a player in this one, an amazing one at that) It has 4 episodes out now and the so called "overture" has just ended, and it's absolutely incredible. Brennan paints such a fantastic picture and completely immerses you in this world. The story and characters so far have been fantastic (seriously, I have a hard time picking a favourite one), which is insane to me because we're only 4 eps in, but already so much has happened. I just had to gush about this new campaign, because it has blown me away so far. If you have ever wanted to get into critical role, now is truly the time.

wanira 11

It's ME! Pike is Goated!!! 🐐

Otaku's Finest

About Kash's death: apparently, this didn't even occur at the table in the original stream. So Critters were SHOCKED by his death in this episode. 😧

HBelmont 24

You have NO idea. 🀩πŸ’₯ Part of me wants them to swap Monday and Tuesday for My Hero. πŸ˜…

HBelmont 24

Same

Otaku's Finest

Anyone else hyped for MHA tomorrow

Lyrical Kell of Music

I would love love LOOOOOVE if you picked Castlevania next. 🏰 πŸ¦‡ 🩸

HBelmont 24

First! This is probably my favorite episode of the series. 🀩
