Enjoy! Next ep Monday!

To Matt's annoyence... Later something similar happened with Tal's character with two very character oriented lines (Matt) „Bane is the bane of my existence" (Taliesin) „Add a D4 to that"

LikeCat

Did you ever see the live-action remake that came out?

HBelmont 24

I hear you, but a) it was dark, b) he's a BLACK DRAGON, and c) it was established earlier in the episode that Umbrasyl has some healing magic.

HBelmont 24

"No such thing as luck" says the guy with the lucky feat lol Vax has the lucky feat and used it a lot lol

KomoUpNorth

Glad you’re liking the series, hope you guys get to watch the stream versions of the campaign moments! It’s fun to see how it went down, and then how they adapt it. My personal favorite from this episode is the stream version of Vax getting wings. It’s like peak siblingness. Also, it’s funny that Montana mentioned having everyone kiss everyone at the end. The stream had two instances in the stream where they joked around with Polymachina lmao

Wolfarick

Oh also, i just realized my question contained a bit of a spoiler, I am so sorry, I did not even realize until I heard the answer to the previous question. I will be more careful in the future.

StorytellerDave

Montana truly achieved CR fandom status after shipping every party member in a polycule.

StorytellerDave

As amazing as this fight is there was one thing that I missed. The party is visibly damaged and on the verge of exhaustion and death, but Umbrasyl for all the hits he takes looks the same from start to finish, I wish they showcased more that each hit actually did something and made progress, that it wasn't just an arbitrary - now is a good time for him to die - scenario. It's only really a problem bc they did such a good job with Vox Machina, that in contrast you really notice the lack in the dragon. Luckily they really fixed this for season 3.

StorytellerDave

So the real cool thing about Vestiges, in the mechanics of DnD, they level up with you. You can find the stats for Vestiges in the campaign books Matt has written, but essentially the Vestiges are Dormant in the first state and must be Awakened. Lastly, it can become Exalted, usually during some great moments of character development as opposed to just leveling up.

The animators during MN animation process - sees Molly: There is no way in the nine hells we will do THAT, if you want this show to come out this century. *Pointing at official/ fanart of our literal and figurative peacock*

LikeCat

Imagine being the animator who had to sit down for like a whole month to animate that entire butthole pov shot.

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON MENTIONED. reaction when.

Unfortunately, as sick as Vax's wings are, I'd have to say Hawks, simply for the utility aspect of Fierce Wings. They don't just operate as mechanisms of flight, but also function as motion/sound detection tools, weapons, are equippiable auto carry tools, armor, speed boost, etc. I think they're pretty even on cool factor tho.

Katsuki Bakugone (tobio)

Dragons generally have a number of spell-like abilities and the older they get, the more spell-like abilities they can have (ie. Umbrasyl's invisibility). The shapechanging also falls into this category. However, some dragons can also become powerful spellcasters. Raishan is basically a top-tier spellcaster in the body of an ancient dragon. In the campaign, I think Grog is the one that landed the killing blow on Umbrasyl. They gave it to Scanlan in the show, partly because they wanted him to have that moment for his character development. This was a big episode for both Vax and Scanlan (Vax becomes a paladin here). Also, Mythcarver is a bardic weapon and only bards can access it's full powers. One of the abilities is the power to get 4 consecutive melee attacks with a +3 bonus to hit and damage and an extra 1d6 points of force damage, so it fits that Mythcarver can do a killing blow on Umbrasyl.

Robert Bonfante

The thing that makes Scanlan's dream about his imaginary grandkids even sweeter is that they're voiced by Sam's own children. ☺️

HBelmont 24

Whichever comes sooner, my guess the other one'll probably take Vinland Saga's spot on Wednesdays, since that the next closest anime they are to finishing.

HBelmont 24

Same! It's my favourite one

So, both season two of Frieren and season three of JJK are coming this January. Which do you think is gonna take the Friday slot once they finish Mob Psycho 100, which they should wrap up not long after? My hope is Frieren. ✨

HBelmont 24

Also since so much happens this season, just in case you forgot, Raishan(the dragon at the end) was also the poison dragon from the first episode of this season. When she stopped Scanlan’s spell, he made a comment “Wait, this dragon’s got magic too?”

zzsaturn

Vax in Season 1 Episode 1: We should just go, run like we do all the time. Vax in Season 2 Episode 12: We can't run. - How much he has grown since then... And no doupt more to come later.

LikeCat

probably not cause i think this arc happened in 2013 but the similarities are fun and some of the creators of she ra watch critical role so it might be the other way around

erykahlc

That's what I saw, too 😂

HBelmont 24

Indeed. That was something Critical Role does for their C1 episode naming conventions, is the major boss fight episode is named after the boss. That received a nod in this episode.

Loot

Even more specifically, some dragons can shapeshift, some can cast spells. Raishan could do BOTH. Which is crazy.

Loot

I'm so excited for S3!

Jace

Vax wasn’t floating. The others are walking up to him. He’s standing there.

jamurano

And thus Vax multiclassed as a Paladin.

LikeCat

„I don't wanna let her down anymore" „If you don't wanna let her down anymore, then don't" „Sounds easy" „Its not... But nothing that really matters in life ever is" - Why can I imagine this convo between their C2 characters just in reverse... With the added MASSIVE salt in the wound that Episode 69 is still fresh in my mind. As in I am only 6-ish episode after.

LikeCat

"Thordak = Hordak" 😂 I feel like Matt probably based the Cinder King's name loosely on that.

HBelmont 24

Raishan is a poison dragon but shes also a spellcaster. Some dragons can cast spells like a wizard basically. Possibly minor spoiler that explains what happened this episode that gets clarified next episode, dragons can often shapeshift. Thsts what happened here.

Suplee215

The wings are really cool

Braden Jackson

Hopefully, it'll come after Vox Machina once they finish season three at the end of November.

HBelmont 24

Hey guys, are you going to react to the new Mighty Nein teaser that dropped recently? Its coming in November, its critical roles Campaign 2 that takes place in the same world

Josh Ashford

I can't wait to see Hot Boi and Sad Boi animated

Josh Ashford

Serious question: who's wings are cooler, Vax's or Hawks'? 🪽

HBelmont 24

Happy vox machina monday guys

wanira 11

11:18 Was Vax floating? - Me: Naah... He isn't Hot Boi.

LikeCat

Happy Labor Day! 🤍 Anyone got any plans? I was probably just gonna chill.

HBelmont 24

Pretty sure the episode title is based on Umbrasyl's title, the "Hope Devourer."
