I agree that gon is true neutral. Its one of my favorite parts of this show actually, most MCs of anime are at the very least some form of good but gon is uniquely not. Hes not motivated my justice or what's morally right, he has his own value system and that is what drives him, its a big part of why I think that he doesn't really harbor resentment to Ging because to him following your own path is the most noble and admirable thing you can do and Ging did that.
