2025-03-21 15:40:00 +0000 UTCIdk how interested u two are with power scaling but it really got me thinking when Frieren told us that she has lost to 6 humans with a lower amount of mana than her. I immediately thought of flamme when I heard that and thought how flamme was such a legendary mage and the effectiveness of her barriers still outperforming everything to this day(as seen in the village with the barrier). In a show where magic advances at such a rapid rate(like how humansβ integration of zoltrak into their magic system), it just further shines how impressive flamme really was. So when freiren said that, it just made me think how relevant talent is in this show where someone who has not lived for even a hundred years can outperform someone with more than a thousand years on their shoulders.

So one could argue that Fern "obscuring her view of the sky" is also a metaphor for just how important a part of Frieren's life she has become.

2025-03-14 15:30:02 +0000 UTCI think the gag with Fern's chest works for several reasons: 1) It's not frequent; this is only the second or third instance. 2) It's from the female perspective. Stark, love the guy, but as innocent as he is, I just don't see the joke working as well if it was from him. But it's from Frieren's perspective, which leads to the final reason . . . 3) It has a purpose. The point of the scene is both to demonstrate Frieren's mild envy with her own body, and also the fact that Fern isn't the same little girl anymore. This is about as close to fan-service as Frieren gets, and they do it with a purpose.

A Mana requirement? Do you go to school for it? Is it a subject in regular schools alongside math, etc?Lit seems like everyone can do at least a little bit of magic. The random spells frieren has been collecting have been from normal folk most of the time (the merchant, the tea, etc)
