2024-10-29 15:28:28 +0000 UTCFor as often as we see characters nude in this show, it’s really impressive that I never felt like any of our cast was being reduced to fan service. The nudity is very casual for the characters that are used to it, and the only time the raciness of it is acknowledged is when David is being caught off guard by it, and the focus is on him and how he’s adjusting to this culture shock, not the nudity itself. It’s just refreshing to see to be honest!

Personally, I do agree that BD’s would absolutely be destructive as shit to society in the form we see in Cyberpunk. If the technology itself existed and was extremely tightly regulated in use and content, I could see it being useful medically or therapeutically in a number of ways. It could be used to train people’s brains to use advanced prosthesis or, as Montana suggested, a more generalized learning aide. But as entertainment? It’s too much, there’s a significant portion of people whose brains would just break into little dopamine spirals and the real world would feel bleak and un-engaging in comparison. As Kenny said, that’s already happening just with fucking smartphones, which obviously pale in comparison to the potential destabilizing effects of sensory immersion entertainment.

Like how in a game if you havent gotten a certain cyberware or skill you cant get certain outcomes or options, and so davids one decision to get the sandy opened an entirely new storyline for his life.

2024-10-23 17:45:27 +0000 UTCI think what helps is that the nudity, while blatant, is treated somewhat casually within the show (I chalk it up to different social norms within Cyberpunk's world). The nudity for the most part isn't sexualized, if that makes any sense. Sure, David reacts to it a bit, but he doesn't start acting perverted like characters in other anime.
