a little tidbit on the phone calls using ones brain implant, the reason why it seems when they are talking on the phone, they repeat words or sentences frequently, is because unlike talking vocally on the phone where you think what your going to say and that travels through your nerves to tell your mouth to speak properly. but because it is a direct implant, the brain will speak faster than it can properly think so you can think of it as them instantly conversing and rephrasing or repeating certain words or phases as if their brain is also auto correcting themselves.

I don't speak Spanish and have no personal connection to its culture. But there is something about hearing a parent primarily speaking English but still referring to their son/daughter as Mijo/Mija that pulls at my heart in a way that I just absolutely love to hear. It feels so warming and comforting to me in a way that I don't really feel like English has an equivalent for.

Spanish is my native language so when I first saw this and heard Davids mom call him "Mijo" during her talk in the car, I legit shed a tear. Not only did I finally feel representation like I haven't felt since the early days of Bleach, but I instantly felt connected to his story. I too was a troubled teen who understood how broken our system was. I love this anime with a passion

Fun fact, the Trauma team didn't call the normal emergency service the city meat wagons for no reason. They often harvest organs from patience that are still alive to make an extra buck which is what implied to have happened to davids mom. Her condition was stable and then she suddenly died? Her organs were probably harvested and sold in the black market

On cyberpsychosis, it is psychosis but impacted by and developed by the cybernetics. There are some great explanations and explorations in the ttrpg and hidden in the video game. Essentially the people who get cybernetics are typically in high stress, high trauma environments that help cause psychosis. Add on top of that, the cybernetics. With more extreme cybernetics you are replacing whole parts of your body. A cybernetic arm or even fusing the tech to your spin. As people get more and more chromed up, a symptom of every stage cyberpsychosis is that you start viewing flesh and blood as just meat. A broken arm could be replaced with better tech instead of healed. Your cyber arm is just a tool. The more extensive you go with it the less grounding connections the person has to their own body. Yes they still feel the cyber arm as it’s connected to the nervous system, but it’s not them. It’s not their arm, it’s the current arm they’re using. Couple this dehumanizing society with further dehumanizing cybernetics and add a dash of severe trauma and you get a cyberpsycho.

Cyberpunk (and other punk genres) are generally about dystopian societies, a lot of the older ones are more explicitly about fascism and dictatorship, cyberpunk seems to lean more towards late stage capitalism David and his mom were getting financially bullied every step of the way, they have to pay to use the washing machine, they had to buy an expensive software update for seemingly no reason and pay for the repairs, trauma team left them to die because they weren't a member and the backalley hospital don't even allow free visitation, she was dispensed in a can like a vending machine. I think they did a great job at showcasing how cruel a late-stage capitalist world would look like for the average person and its a shame that aspect isn't talked about more

I didn't read thru every comment so sorry if someone mentioned this already, but a tiny bit of background that will explain at least one thing is, the USA had a war that ended up fracturing it, we basically lost. The only real relevant point to this is that due to this loss, a new standardized currency was created for the victors who now owned large parts of America and already owned Europe. The currency is the Euro Dollar. There are no more USD, American dollar bills, or really any bills, it's all digital currency. They're called Euro Dollars, or EuroD or Eddies, for short. If you hear anyone talking about Eddies or 'zipping' (digitally transferring) Eddies, they're talking about money. I mentioned owning nations BTW, because in this world, corporations, or corpos, are more powerful than world governments, and basically control them and the world.

People talk about how great the story and characters are. But one thing that doesn’t get enough praise is the music in this show. The music is actually beautiful and it perfectly sets the mood and the vibe of how shitty Night City is. My favorite songs is “Let You down” which is what plays for all of the credits. And another that you’ll hear later on called “Little Stranger”

Man, the show really should have made it clearer after the opening that "BDs" (brain-dances) are the literal memories and sensations of a person, letting you live the experience. But someone else had to do it to get the sensational data. An xBD (Extreme brain-dance) is one that allows you to relive someone else's death, crimes, sex, drug overdose, or some other illegal or mature event. The soldier went psycho and killed those cops. Then Gloria took the Sandevistan off his corpse, and someone else hacked his brain implants and stole the memories. Those memories were sold to Doc, who cleaned up, trimmed, fine-tuned, and edited the footage and data, and he sold the final product to David.

Funny thing about if you do become a suit in the world of Cyberpunk. Even if David were to have gone that route, he wouldn't be any safer than on the streets. Let's just say that one wrong step, and you'll find your brain leaking out of your ears. No Trauma Team package is gonna fix that. Point is, it isn't a rare sight to see different departments in the same Corp getting into a fight and ending in corpses everywhere.

It was touched on a bit, but CP2077 has greatly improved since launch. Besides the bug fixes, gameplay has been expanded on (the combat system and skill trees were reworked). Not to mention its expansion Phantom Liberty is an amazing experience. Highly recommend giving the game another shot at some point!
