Update - The Hard Drive Devastation

TLDR: A thing broke and caused delays. Fixing thing, getting back on track.

Hi folks,

I put this up on the website last week because it was a quick way to put up information while I dealt with a lot of problems. If you missed that little blurb, the short version is that I had a hard drive fail. The one that contains all my writing and other important things. I discovered this in the early morning hours and worked fruitlessly to bring the drive back to life until my partner found me on the floor in a scattering of PC components with an air described as "funereal."

Cannot stress how incredibly devastating this was at the time. In addition to all the source files for my smut writing, the drive contained decades of other writing, my music collection much of which is unique files, decades of photos. And, importantly, all of my writing software, formatting, and other functional tools.

But why, then, if this drive was so important had I not backed it up? The deadly combination of hubris and laziness. Several months ago, I upgraded my computer's motherboard and processor. This involved reconnecting drives and altering their path, which meant that my backup software stopped working. Roughly four months of work was unprotected. Files other than my writing were backed up on other drives which are a pain to reconnect and, shockingly, not well organized in the shoebox inside a closet.

Some time after my catatonic state, I emerged from shock and realized that all was not lost. The drive went off to a data recovery specialist. Almost all of the drive can be saved and will be returned to me hopefully next week. In the meantime, I have been working from my laptop so that I have some content ready for assembly once my templates are back.
