He was a sorcerer who used curses back in the Heian Era but then embedded his soul in his 20 fingers "cursing them" which then sorta made him into more of a cursed object—no longer a human sorcerer but also not a cursed spirit. People tend to put him in the same category as Tengen, who was also once a sorcerer and now some sort of entity, not human but also not spirit

Similar wordplay is used on the number 7 in Nana Shimura's name. All the OFA holders have names related to which number they were in line, including Izuku where ku sounds like 九 or 9.

I think Gojo is best when used as a symbol of the most powerful but gets sidelined at some point to let the others have to deal with it, it also serves to show just how much stronger Gojo is than everyone when you see how much worse things are once he’s not there

Yuji calls Nanami as "NANAMIN" to make it 7 letters, and shouts as "NA NA MIN" making 3 words. Yuji even makes it rhyming like " NA NA - NA NA - NA NA - MIN" making 7 words and last word has 3 letters
