"I'm honestly stunned he is not worse." What would worse look like??????🀣 I mean, rn, he wants to destroy the worls, but at least I guess man's still has the will to live?

Saiyasha

Shigarakis family didn't hate quirks and didn't beat him because of them. He didn't even get his quirk until the day he killed his family. They did not support the notion of a hero. He got in trouble for wanting to be a hero not because of the type of quirk he had. His family was actually very normal in terms of the amount of love they gave to each other they just had that one rule and even at the end the father realized he let his teams get the best of him and took the punishment too far. Him hitting him with the stick was because shigaraki was literally destroying everything and killed them entire family so the father was trying to stop him not him beating him because he had a quirk.

James Carl Carter III

I know. One of my favorite OSTs in the series. 😭😭😭

The difference between losing a finger and losing a hand is not THAT big. In terms of escaping the Overhaul situation, if someone has the power to cut off a finger of his, then they can probably cut off his hand. As for him using his quirk, what's the chance of him ever being in a situation where he can touch a person he wants to kill, but only with less than 5 fingers? Especially since his decay spreads and he could also just slap the ground instead of going for the person directly. Now if he could use decay with his feet, that'd be a big upgrade.

David Bodor

It makes a total difference. Ifcit was all five fingers, he'd be down to one hand as from this point on he only has one full fingered hand.

Imani Brooks

It's worth noting that Nana Shimura wasn't necessarily a "big hero" in the sense of fame in her time. In fact, she almost definitely was not well known. Earlier in this season they talk about how One For All was usually passed on to whoever could carry the torch next, in some cases as they were dying while All For One hunted them down. OFA wasn't strong enough to be the difference maker it is now until All Might held it for 30+ years.

I need the shirt and a Kenny

Nice little detail: he says in the flashback that whenever he cries, his sister takes his hand and runs ahead of him to lead him onwards. When he gets his quirk, he's bawling his eyes out and she runs away from him, so he chases after her and reaches a hand out, but this time she doesn't take it. Adds another little element of betrayal and rejection from her.

I need that dilf shirt. I love dilfs and I love cats.

Revin MacGrath

That music that plays during the family decay is sooooo good 😭

Digital Alikin

Montana saying we pick our fingers to cope with stress as I’m literally doing that as she said it 😭

By the way, it's worth mentioning that things turning to stone when Shigaraki touches them before dissolving is actually the anime censoring things. In reality, they don't turn to stone before dissolving. They feel every cell in their body dissolving as it happens.

Gestrid

Shigaraki saying "what I needed was..." was meant to mirror something similar Izuku said in S1E1, when he found out he was quirkless. The one thing Tenko and Izuku both wanted to hear: "You, too, can be a hero." The only difference is that Izuku's dream was supported by those around him while Tenko's dream was stifled. Izuku heard those words from those he looked up to while Tenko did not.

double upload WHOOOAAA!!!

TLKDesu

stress plus ultra

chris

I guess that's a new thing, not that it makes much of a difference with the spreading enabled.

David Bodor

I don't think that Shigaraki's situation was about not being supported because of his quirk but instead because of the idea of being a hero and causing harm to people who love you. Prime examples, being Deku's mom at one point and Sir Nighteye seeing Almight's future death.

Kalla

Shigaraki did gain the ability to decay without all five fingers

Ed al

It's actually interesting that Shigaraki's quirk didn't evolve, he already could do the spreading decay from childhood, he just rediscovered his ability to do it. Technically he could always do it, he just didn't know how. So really the only one that evolved was Toga, the other two just had trauma burying the full capability of their powers.

David Bodor

I always liked the representation of his families' personalities when they died: Mon was a good dog, spent time with a sad child as dogs often know when a person feels down. Hana ran away and, willingly or not, abandoned him when shit hit the fan. (like she did when their dad was angry about them finding the photo) His Mom tried to embrace him, seeing as he was suffering, just like she did when she tried to help with the itching. His grandparents never helped, they died as they lived, being bystanders. And his dad goes out abusing him, as is typical.

Thyodor Cloudbreath

"And just like that, I didn't itch anymore." Just about the CHILLIEST line they could have left us with. 😨😨

H-Bomb 24

I agree. I love how you can tell how absolutely disturbed and traumatized Shigiraki is when his quirk "awakens". He is scared and helpless.

Keyblade

Oh yess😩 s6 next month along with movie! They should be caught up by the time next season is fully dubbed

BojacksReacts

As absolutely HORRIBLE that Shigiraki's origin is, I also think it might be my favorite scene in the show thus far, in a way. I just really like when a scene captures whatever emotion it's trying to convey, and the sheer horror of that scene is shown PERFECTLY.

Heck yeah in 30 minutes? Eating good today
