I don't get why people compare this to AOT its pretty different. another difference is that eren improvised his plan and was pretty all over the place, while from the start of the show this was lolouches plan basically, and he never strayed from his core ideals.

2024-04-20 02:39:04 +0000 UTCJust in case you were wondering about why everyone loves this ending so much and sings its praises so highly: it was the first majorly popular anime with this big twist ending at the time! Watching it before AOT, and other more recent animes, gives such a shock reaction that you miss by seeing it afterward😂 I think there were one or two animes with a similar idea, becoming the villain etc, but they weren't popular and I think aired in the 70s-80s so they weren't widely distributed nor dubbed I think

2024-04-20 02:20:29 +0000 UTCDiscovered yalls channel when you were in the middle of S1 because I searched to see if anyone had reactions to one of my fav animes! From there, was impatient and became a supporter to see the full episodes, and then to tearbending ☺️ this has been such a good show to see your reactions to since it has a ton of twists and several plots going on at once I think yall would really really enjoy Hunter X Hunter or Black Clover—they're both series with a ton of episodes with plots that are easy to ask questions about!! I also think Fruist Basket (newer one) its very wholesome and has a lot of psychological things addressed that I think Montana will really like! (And a literal horse girl!!) As for the movies and the new code geass series... tbh up to yall! I only ever watched the re;surrection since its set 1 year after end of season 2, as a sort of alternate epilogue to the series

2024-04-19 00:54:47 +0000 UTCLIGHT SPOILERS AHEAD SO YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, I get what you saying but I feel like that’s intention, in other shows an sexual thing is glossed over, leaving the viewer uncompfy while inverse they don’t care, but in CSM there are sexual things that leave the viewer uncompfy but undertones that reinforce that feeling of wrongness. In other shows the MC might touch a boob and the MC flys back with blood shooting out their nose and the girl blushing and turning away, but Denji touches a boob with no personal connection and doesn’t feel much, then Makima plays into that to bend Denji perfectly into what she needs. That vice that Denji falls under just happens to be sex but it could be anything an makima would still bend it to her will. Long winded ik but I was really surprised how they dealt with these themes compared to others

2024-04-18 08:32:09 +0000 UTCIt's too bad they saw AoT before they did CG and already had an idea of how it would end. That was one of the biggest twist back in the day when it wasn't common

2024-04-18 03:32:45 +0000 UTCShout out to the people who kept asking for this reaction, theyre the reason I joined patreon lol....Lelouch was drawing the line on using the Geass on Nunally and didn't care about doing it to other family members because he loves her and didn't love the others, simple as that. He still felt like he was doing this for her at that moment, but he was really doing it for the sake of the world. Like a true hero he decided to go against what he wanted in order to do what he must.

2024-04-18 02:48:04 +0000 UTCI agree with that, and this is just my point of view, but CSM has some weird moments, even from a story telling perspective. Idk, like I enjoyed the combat and animation, don’t get me wrong. And some of the funny moments were good, it just feels very out of Kenny and Montana’s wheel house. Only time will tell. Frieren could have been a great series to add 🤷🏻♂️

2024-04-18 01:35:28 +0000 UTCAlright calm down there bucko, I don't want to start an argument in the comments of a patreon post but you should actually read what I said before acting aggressive over a fan theory that has been around since the end of the show based on events that happen in the show and as I stated, I wasn't sure if the alternate ending footage was even real or not and I only used it to point out a possibility not a justification. The creators can confirm whatever they want, and we can speculate as much as we want on what could have been. The theory on codes is interesting regardless of how you feel. I never said the movie proves the theory, I said it proves it in sense that everything the theory talks about is basically what makes the movie a thing in the first place and shows a possibility IN A DIFFERENT TIMELINE XD. The resurrection refers to Lelouch regaining his memories and becoming Lelouch again because he was an empty husk (Words can have different meanings), not CC literally reviving him, also how the hell would he even get a code if she resurrected him in C's world and why is it specifically on his neck, where again, Charles died holding Lelouch's neck with the hand that held his code. You also seem very comfortable saying the movie happens because bullshit CC does in C's world to resurrect him, but a valid theory that uses points in the show to point out a very real possibility is too much? You can shit on things all you like but at least read what I said properly please and learn to not take things so seriously when, again, we are in the comments of a patreon post discussing a great series that is fun to speculate on.

2024-04-17 21:56:28 +0000 UTCI love the contrast between Light Yagami and Lelouch a lot. While Light claimed he wanted to make a better world, he just wanted to be God of the world, regardless of how that came to be. His goals were selfish, and he never acknowledged any of the evil he was committing himself while chasing those goals. He saw himself as ultimately justified, because he's God, and can do what he wants. Even Ryuk points this out in the first episode("If you kill all the evil people, you'll be the only evil one left."), and Light just brushes that off. Lelouch on the other hand, I think did start as selfish. He wanted to destroy Britannia to keep himself and his sister safe, and he didn't really give a shit about anything beyond that. He gives a statement about who should fight in the beginning(first episode, after he awakens the Geass, and before he Geasses the soldiers) - "The only ones who should kill are those prepared to be killed." At the time, he only seems to mean it as a warning to the soldiers who are going around gleefully massacring people. He himself doesn't really treat others outside of his friends with much regard. The members of the resistance that he meets in the first few episodes, he literally treats them as chess pieces in a game. He gets slapped by reality after that, realizing that the "games" he's playing have real consequences for real people. He wavers back and forth when it comes to morals, seeming to swing between anti-hero and villain protagonist at different parts of the story. However, he important DOES acknowledge the mistakes and the evil he is commiting, unlike Light.("I commit evil to stop the greater evil!") He also seems to learn from his mistakes over the course of the series. And he eventually reaches the point where, instead of putting his sister before the world, he puts the world before his sister. He would've absolutely hated it, but had it become necessary, I truly believe he would have killed Nunnally during that final battle. Because it wasn't just about him and his sister anymore. And by the end, he has come to truly believe those words that he spoke in the first episode. "The only ones who should kill are those prepared to be killed." His final act is living true to that. He also chooses death and vilification as atonement for the sins he has committed. He greatly regrets the mistakes he has made, and sees his death and being made the enemy of the world, hated by everyone, as a way to make up for them. (He specifically declares at one point that he intends to become so reviled that people completely forget about "Princess Massacre"). That's why I believe the framing of his assassination was very intentional. He dies the same way Euphy died: the world around them cheering and hailing Zero for killing the monster and bringing them salvation, while those who know the truth mourn the death of their loved one.
ArcaneAnomaly
2024-04-17 21:31:56 +0000 UTCWrong. There was never an alternative ending showing that. The "ending" showing Lelouch's face on the driver was an infamous fan edit. It was never anything official. Please stop spreading that. You can hang onto the theory about Codes all you want(although I dislike that theory since it's just one more kick to Lelouch's balls that the universe delivers in the case that it's true, since Lelouch INTENDED to die there as his atonement), but do not use fake footage to justify it. The creators of the show have confirmed that they consider Lelouch to be dead. Heck, you want to talk about alternate endings? How about the ending of the OVAs that came out a year after the series, as part of the special edition DVD release? The DVDs included a pair of OVAs that covered and summarized the entire events of the series. One for season 1, one for season 2. The S2 OVA cut out the carriage scene entirely(so no C.C. speaking ambiguously to Lelouch), and instead has C.C. give a narration over the credits that explicitly says Lelouch is dead. Again, this is from a year after the series came out. Also, the R3 movie proves the theory he's still alive? How?! If anything, it proves that he's actually dead, because he isn't just hiding somewhere alive in the world. C.C. has to pull some bullshit with C's World to actually resurrect him(hence why it's called RESURRECTION, and not SURVIVAL), and even then, it doesn't fully work right at first.
ArcaneAnomaly
2024-04-17 21:15:26 +0000 UTCYeah, people can theorycraft all they want regarding Codes, but if anything, Lelouch was confirmed by the creators to be dead. And I don't mean recently, with the new movies. I mean as far back as a year after the series first premiered in Japan. The speculation about Lelouch being alive mostly comes from C.C.'s final statement, and questions as to whether or not the carriage driver was Lelouch. A year after the series first finished, there was a special DVD release that also included a pair of OVAs that summarized the series. One for S1, one for S2. And the one for S2 had the final carriage scene completely removed, and instead has C.C. giving a narration over the credits that explicitly says that Lelouch is dead.
ArcaneAnomaly
2024-04-17 21:06:54 +0000 UTCI love the setup of that final scene so much, because of how it echoes Euphemia's death. The people who knew the truth mourning, as the world around them cheers for Zero after they assassinated the "monster" and saved them from it. You absolutely know that was set up on purpose by Lelouch, as atonement.

2024-04-17 19:21:03 +0000 UTCThere is an old theory that has been around since the ending and it sorta leads into the movie although that is in a different timeline. Lelouch is theorized to to not only be alive but an immortal due to the fact that when one kills an immortal they can take their code, Lelouch managed to kill Charles through his Geass in C's world and when Charles died, his hand where his code was, is grabbing Lelouch's neck and since that episode, we don't see Lelouch's neck clearly. There is also an alternative ending that was removed although I don't know if it is real but at the very end when CC is talking out loud to Lelouch, the alternate ending cuts to the driver of the wagon and it is Lelouch laughing. The movie takes place in an alternate timeline I guess to not ruin the main show but it pretty much proves the theory in a sense.

2024-04-17 16:31:21 +0000 UTCThis argument of "you like this show, so you can't talk shit about another one" is tiring. I never said Naruto is without flaws, it's just one of the ones I enjoy. My favorite is actually bleach, which has hell-a plot holes. I understand it's temporary, but even the concept of temporary peace seems dumb considering there were DECADES of hate between Britannia and the world. Unless he killed off EVERY Britannian, there would have still been countless people who would hold scorn for others on both sides that I doubt hate for one man would have resolved. Who knows how many would have happily gone along with lelouch, no geass required (and likely would still have access to SOME kind of military armament bc I doubt ALL of it was destroyed)
Jinchuriki87
2024-04-17 16:22:35 +0000 UTCOh, but all that being said, I also support reacting to the movie. As long as you go into it understanding that it's a totally different continuity and not quite related to the OG story

2024-04-17 16:11:57 +0000 UTCIn more.ways than one. Remember the chess march in R2 between Schneizel and Zero? Where Nina runs in from off screen, tries to stab zero, is caught by Kallen, and then lets it all out with a good cry about Euphy?............ AoT Final Season - Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Gabby seated at a table. Kaya runs in from off screen to stab Gabby. Mikasa catches her. Then she lets it all out and cries about Sasha. The story of that scene is copied from Code Geass and in the animation, some of the same shots and angles are even copied.

2024-04-17 16:05:25 +0000 UTCIt isnt some forever peace, its a reset of the world. All governments and militaries were destroyed and absorbed into Britannia. So there is nobody large enough or strong enough to fill the void and become Britannia 2.0 (which would have happened of he just defeated Charles... Chinese Federation, European Union, etc would take the place of it). Lelouch killed several undesirables during that one month timeskip with longterm stability in mind. And when he blew up MT Fuji in the final battle, he blew up 80% of the worlds Sakuradite supply, meaning Knightmares onluly have so many more years of existence. Now will it stay this way? No. New armies and conflicts will come. But the world gets to start from scratch and maybe do better the second time around. There is also a degree of historical precedent, at least in rhetoric. World War IIs conclusion had much of the same language about the world being united and ready to move forward, the wnd of war, etc... before the worlds two superpowers began having tensions with each other (Russia/US). Lelouch has similar situations but no large superpowers left to drive the next global conflict...... and its kinda hard to du k on Code Geass when you got a Naruto username lol

2024-04-17 15:25:12 +0000 UTCIts a shame you got to the end of attack of titan before looking at this series. Since there are a number of similarities between the two so I expect whichever one people see first is often the one that sticks in people's heads. there are I assume many more 'I played the villain to free the world of hate' stories out there (I can think of a few, Watchmen does it and arguably the wizard boy books did it to a small degree) but Code Geass was always the big one for me that sticks in my mind, arguably because it's the only one that seems to commit to it being a good idea (both Watchmen and AOT tease it not working as intended) so maybe thats why its so memorable. There is a movie that sort of continues the story but it's confusing as it's a continuation of the movies that adapted the series which cut out certain plot points (the big one being Shirley dying) so going straight from the series to the movie confuses a lot of people because she shows up a few times in it. Similarly there is an ova series that is set in europe that I think it quite good called Akio the Exiled, at least in terms of mecha designs it's excellent. And as someone else mentioned a new ova series is on the way. They teased a 3rd season of the show at one point to match the 3rd movie but following the series continuity but it never materialized.

2024-04-17 15:12:03 +0000 UTCYeah...hot take. I wasn't a huge fan of this show, and that ending was unrealistic as hell (yes it's an anime...but you're nuts if you think humanity would just STOP having hate and doing violence and be peaceful over that, or likely anything)
Jinchuriki87
2024-04-17 15:10:03 +0000 UTCIt's great you were able to do this reaction series and a blast following it! I would love to see a reaction to the follow up movie. It is in a very very slightly altered timeline showing what happens after the finale here. It goes with an interpretation of the main series ending that ended up not being canon. It was always my preferred ending so I was happy to see it explored in the movie.
Kaelen Kosse
2024-04-17 15:02:34 +0000 UTCI don't know why you're trying to emphasize canon in there but that movie does not take place in the same universe as the series. That's an alternative universe and it's been confirmed many times. It being part of the main would cheapen the sacrifice lelouche had to make

2024-04-17 15:00:10 +0000 UTCSeeing Lelouch pass away in front of Nunnally was very hard to watch. One family member having to witness another loved family member die in front of them is one of the most devastating things in the world to see.
Raul Iggynashow
2024-04-17 14:58:20 +0000 UTCTo head it off before it starts - Lelouch being alive or dead at the end can be speculated, but anyone saying that he was confirmed alive by the creators is incorrect. Similarly, anyone stating that there was a deleted scene where it shows Lelouch alive is operating under false information, it was some fan edit that was made ages and ages ago, I'm not even sure if you still find it. And finally, there are Code Geass movies that are essentially separate from the OG series and operate under a series of a somewhat alternate set of events. Inevitably, the reactions to the final episodes of this series end up with numerous comments containing this misinformation. [----------------------] Can't format on mobile so this will have to be a linebreak lol. Anyway, I think the major difference between this ending and AoT is that Lelouch actually left behind a still mostly-intact system that could maintain the peace he created. Britannia still largely remains as the only superpower remaining in the world. Schneizel's plans were never revealed, so it just looks like he was trying to stop Lelouch's tyranny so he isn't hated by the public. He's a brilliant strategist and politician and now he will serve Zero - who is Suzaku, whose goal is to maintain peace. Added to that, Schneizel supported Nunnally as the rightful ruler of Britannia and Lelouch basically made her a martyr by making a big show of parading her to her execution. So, theoretically, we have a girl who people are very sympathetic to, who is supported by the hero Zero and by extension the charismatic and brilliant Schneizel, and who is the "rightful" ruler of the massively powerful nation that Lelouch left behind. Anyway, loved the reactions glad you guys enjoyed it!

2024-04-17 14:49:16 +0000 UTCI would recommend watching the movies that take place in between the 2 seasons of code geass. Theyre called code geass akito the exiled, theyre very good and expand on the universe bit especially c's world.

2024-04-17 14:28:53 +0000 UTCI also wanted to say that this episode always makes me cry at the end; the juxtaposition of the crowd chanting Zero's name while Nunnally sobs over her brother's body never fails to get to me...dub cast killed it for this show and god, the MUSIC during the climax. easily one of my favorite tracks "you should come to death smiling," he said after all

2024-04-17 14:06:43 +0000 UTCWe're finally here...the last episode of Code Geass. It was so incredible to once again embark on this journey through my favorite anime ever with you two; through all the twists and turns, through all the theorycrafting (from the wild/inaccurate to the prophetic). Let me just say that I and probably most/all of the CG fandom who banded together to make this the next series on the channel are immensely grateful that you gave this show a chance. It's not as popular as other entries on this channel (e.g. the likes of JJK, Demon Slayer, Chainsaw Man, etc) in terms of numbers, and not a whole lot of reactors (at least that I see) go to this show since it's older; it's unfortunate but that's how the YT algo game is played. The new hotness gets the engagement; but regardless we thank you for watching through the show and enjoying it as much as you have. You two are awesome and I can't wait to see what you watch next!

2024-04-17 14:04:14 +0000 UTCThere is a new Code Geass series coming out later in 2024 called Roze of the Recapture. I think it would be a good idea to react to the 2019 Code Geass cannon movie right after the Season 2 finale so when the new series comes out you guys are all caught up.
