JJK 1x17

Enjoy! Next ep next Friday!

JJK 1x17

Comments

The heavenly pacts aren't something most people forge wilingly. Like Mechamaru, who got incredibly cursed energy in exchange for his withered body just by being born, So too did Maki get born with incredible Physical Abilities in exchange for no cursed energy. She never had a say in this

Saiyasha

Montana dummy arc at the middle. Lol. Nah y'all kill it, especially since monty doesn't know anime almost at all mate. Love yall b

Jacob Hayes

No, even without a sister she would still have a little cursed energy. There is only one person who has a heavenly restriction completely removing their cursed energy and, in attempt to not post any spoilers, ill just say it's not her.

Flux

found you gusy recently. You have become one of my top 3 reactors, the other being Autosave and Yaboyroshi. I don't know if you guys have seen Castlevania yet, but damn, watch Netflix's Castlevania!!

Benjamin Chen

That is horribly incorrect. Maki and Mei Mei play important roles in everything in the manga up to the current point and are completely badass. at no point are they sexualized at all and you could count the number of sorceress that could beat current Maki on one hand.

Warden

unfortunately this is only true in these first few episodes. In the next season and especially the manga the female characters are handled horribly

Tyler

Jjk has actually been recently discussed a lot about how its an action anime that depicts very strong female characters without really sexualizing them or giving them revealing clothing. Jjk really shows their female characters the same way and the same strength as their male ones, which isn't commonly done! Or like the "strong female character" is usually shown as a tomboy with a lower voice or overly girly and cute

(still haven't decided on a name) Day

You don’t take a heavenly pact or restriction. You’re born with it. Not a spoiler just dub

Kraddaku

Side note Montana your not alone I didn't know they put half way points in the shows either. JJK just has two slides that just show the name of the anime what isn't the same cuz it's just a flashy background and music not that it's not cool and nice to see/listen to it's just not as the same like the others I guess so I understand not knowing they had half ways points in other animes but now I do lol

Babybear47

Waddles in the YouTube simble lol cute

Babybear47

Nah, I agree with the 80/20 percentage for benefit to drawback ratio for Maki. I agree with what Montana was trying to say - to be in a world where seeing curses and having cursed energy is essential to living, not to mention prestige and social status versus being isolated and ostracized, to not have that ability is pretty debilitating. I think the amount that her life has been impacted by her clan because she doesn’t have those abilities definitely is fair to add into the drawback category as directly a result of the formation of the heavenly pact.

K Cianci

Sorry I’m a couple days late. Just to clarify. A heavily pact isn’t something that those afflicted with them CHOSE. It is something they are born with. Mechamaru’s Pilot was born with physical flaws and Maki didn’t inherit her families genetic cursed abilities. But in exchange they got something beyond normal human ability. I see it as a similar parallel for birth defects or cognitive limitation. Yes you may be less good at something society says is “normal” but you can and should excel at what you ARE good at. Maki is a great example of trying despite being dealt a trash hand.

Æther Paradox

She has a little but that's because she shares it with her sister If she didn't have her sister she wouldn't have any That's why twins are considered a curse

gamerx

Heavenly restriction is just you either give up all your magical ability in exchange for physical ability or you give up all your physical ability in exchange for lots of magical ability

gamerx

Idk what I love more, this episode or Montana's realization of mid episode breaks lmao

dannydarko27

Don't forget the movie before season 2

mastertater

you are in fact incorrect

wilma

No she has a little

JeffersonGE

I think heavenly pacts are just something people made up to explain things they don’t understand similar to Greek mythology. Like Mechamaru just probably has some disease that hasn’t been diagnosed yet in their universe. Maki being born with little cursed energy was just bad luck and I think she subconsciously made up for that by working harder physically which is why she’s so strong. I’m probably wrong tho that’s just what it seems like to me

Bryan

I just know Montana got some hidden pocket chicken

Bryan

Just to be clear a heavenly pact is put on one before they are even born and they have no choice what they get in that pact (to my knowledge)

Team Outbreak Paintball

Regular people that cant see curses have little Cursed energy, a misconception is that Maki has none but she has a little, like very little

JeffersonGE

I haven't read the manga but from watching the show up to this point I always interpreted it as though Heavenly Pacts aren't necessarily always chosen by the individual i.e. no deal was actually made. Like in the case of Maki, she was just born without cursed energy and in this world the universe will sometime balance the scales. So it's more like a trade-off she was born with. Maybe it's explained more/differently in the manga though.

Max

I mean they likely will. As shitty as it is, it’s there to add contrast/comparison to another character, even though the author could have gone 1000 different ways of showing it lol

Danny C

I wonder if they would skip THAT scene. Just five seconds that affect nothing but ruin everything.

Placbo2.0

Heavenly pacts are placed when someone is born I'm pretty sure. Mechamaru was born with a weak body but insane cursed energy, Maki is the opposite. Maki was born with Little cursed energy, no technique, but an insanely strong body.

Jacob Shelestak

I'd argue that Maki is definitely better off with her heavenly pact. Without that, she'd essentially be seen as more useless than Mai, cause Mai at least wasn't born a non-sorcerer. So having this heavenly pact that allows her to prove people wrong and live up to be more than her clan expected of her, sounds like the better option to me. And more importantly, her goal of being head of the Zenin clan is all the more real because of it.

defnotdai

There's definitely going to be another simp counter in season 2

Juan Solo

"I wonder if we'll meet anyone who has only benefited from a heavenly pact" I'll be holding on to that quote for later...

Rob Carlstrom

yess cat !!! only cats !!!!! hahaha

NOT-ME YOU

Mechamaru's heavenly pact is terrible for obvious reasons (the drawbacks definitely outweigh the benefits), while Maki's is bad in the sense that it puts her at an even bigger disadvantage status-wise.

Juan Solo

Noted!

Letts React

Yeah hope they see this comment - Crunchyroll lists the movie out of order and puts it after Season 2

ShaquanVirse

The point of the heavenly part of heavenly pact is that it’s not chosen it’s something “given by the heavens” aka you’re born with it.

thevoidbender

The HP is just what you’re born with, no one forces it on you but sorcerer family genetics, also maki is insane she literally caught a bullet😂

Kilonzo

Anyone who's watched KNOWS who were talking about 😁😁😁

Jinchuriki87

Can’t wait for the absolute unit to show up

Danny C

Oh no… not the MeiMei simping (those who know)

Danny C

Oh, you want to see MORE heavenly pacts you say?????? JJK: "hold my beer" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Jinchuriki87

That's a bit inaccurate. Maki's pact made her be born with no technique, very low cursed energy (but not none, that's important later), and an above average strong body. Mechamaru was born with a technique (puppet control), a LOT of cursed energy, but a deformed body.

ShadowDragonRyuuto

The pact isn't a choice by anyone - it's forced onto you at birth

ShaquanVirse

Hopefully they see this comment. Some sorcerers are born with either cursed energy plus techniques or both with a Heavenly pact without cursed energy but will sometimes either have or don't have cursed techniques. They don't make deals with anyone or anything for their pacts. It's similar to quirks in MHA. They are just born with it.

Kalla

Maki is such a badass

wanira 11

Anything that features Maki is goated

Danny C

You just gotta get lucky/unlucky with them lmao

JoshyBoi1912

Heavenly pacts and stuff like that are not "chosen" as you said, its just pretty random, like natural selection. Nobody physically makes a pact, As mechamaru said last episode, that fact is what makes heavenly pacts different to normal pacts/binding vows.

JoshyBoi1912

Heavenly pacts aren't made by choice, she was born with it.

Nathan Ganesan

Can't wait for the movie reaction!

JoshyBoi1912

Excited for this episode since it features Maki!
