Lelouch did not geass the empress, instead opting to actually discuss the alliance he seeks with her. That not working he leaves it at the hand of Kaguya to discuss it as her friend. Do you think Lelouch's hesitancy to use geass to take the free will of those he doesn't consider evil will hinder his plans?

Seeing he cares strengthens the Black Knight's trust in Zero, but his strategical abilities are the basis to his leadership. Does letting his care for others affect his decisions make him a worse strategist than say Light, who's only emotion to affect his plan was pride?
