2023-10-24 14:50:28 +0000 UTCI find this bit so fascinating! Not only because almost nobody picks up on it. But the show doesn't even draw any focus to it. Bakugo has never called anyone in the show by their name. But in this one moment Ochaco did something that made Bakugo acknowledge her enough to call her by her name. And even later on, Bakugo actually tends to be "nicer" to Ochaco when interacting with her (at least compared to everyone else).

Sure, season 1 Bakugo was just a huge bully with not much substance to him and a huge narcissism issue, but season 2 Bakugo is more keen on not underestimating his opponents and even showing them the respect they deserve.

But then again, the writers would have to fuck logic REALLY HARD for Uraraka to win, just to pull off that kind of lesson.

He starts by underestimating ochaco, calls her pink cheeks and plans to 'kill' her, but through-out the fight, he genuinely shows how careful he is taking her and that he doesn't want to risk her. Then after her big move, he is seriously impressed and pushed to his limit, forcing him to admit to himself just how good she is and that she almost beat him. As a result, he gains respect for her and calls her by her name, effectively treating her like an equal and not a 'side character' like he thinks of everyone else

She has a lot of Sakuras from Naruto’s qualities on top of actually being well adjusted. Still fun to watch her give it her all but I wish she had more moments in the show but hard when there isn’t a character conflict to dive into

All Might and Endeavour are like looking at deku and bakugo as adults if they don’t grow as people beyond self sacrifice for deku and pride for bakugo.
