Tales of Zale - Comp Tests Continue

My time at La Poudrère was a busy one, but also very rewarding in terms of the content I got to make. From the day I arrived I could feel a change in the way I went about drawing and approaching animation. There's something very magical and refreshing about working in a new place, full of outside inspiration, and it really does affect my work.
I've been struggling with Zale's different walk cycles for a while, but it came pretty naturally in this shot. Moreover I had a lot of new ideas of how to approach the backgrounds. Since it is a post-apocalyptic world I would like the backgrounds in Tales of Zale to tell a story much more than what they've done in past episodes. I think this can add a lot of interesting depth. So my first test for that came in this shot here, where I also played more around with the textures I have at hand. Next week I will show you all an extract of the episode 3 animatic for this scene, but in the meanwhile I hope you enjoy these behind the scenes!
